To those who think that what CCOtto is saying is nonsense, I want for you to know that it is most certainly not. There are many hand signs that denote the Evil one but among them is the most famous which consists of lifting up the first and little finger of one hand and bringing together the rest of the fingers to be joined touching the thumb.

The aforementioned hand signal has been used much by many who may have used it to denote evil. But whether they know it or not a very famous university also uses that same signal or sign as the symbol of their school perhaps to denote their mascot? It would be interesting to know if they know of the other uses for that hand signal?

Some signals made by hand gestures can indeed be used for bad or evil purposes such as when a nasty person extends their middle finger in a way commonly called "shooting the bird" which is considered very nasty, disrespectful, and in plain bad taste but most often called an 'obscene gesture'. There are other hand signals unique to the groups who use them and their specific purposes such as gang members, for one. Even some well-known pastors have been known to use the sign some associate with satan and have been criticized for it by others.

So, this is indeed no laughing matter, but rather one to be concerned about and the usage of the particular symbol and its meaning. I feel the more we ridicule postings like CCOtto's the more we neglect to confront the truth about what is actually happening in the world today and we need to try to understand these things rather than to just pass them off as light conversational items eliciting ridicule which, contrary to popular belief on behalf of some, makes actual prudent sense to learn about in order to know what one is actually dealing with.

But the book of Revelation is a lot more vague then the rest of the Bible. It can be easily be misinterpreted. Have you ever read or heard an interpretation from any denomination or branch of Christianity there of? The majority of these people will sound crazy or will be discounted as sounding crazy by those of mainstream Christianity.

It depresses me truly that of everything going on in the world (starvation, war and genocide to name a few)... THIS is what you're spending your free time worrying about and taking a stand against?! Rather than a REAL problem you're going to actually waste your time arguing whether or not a stupid hand gesture is "demonic" in some way? Hi VikkiKate, the reason we simply cannot ignore hand gestures as being 'pointless' is due to the fact that many such gestures can be considered criminal. I know there are some who may not be aware that they are but nevertheless they are. And I am surprised to learn that you appear to be happy with and comfortable when someone flips you the bird and can just go on but did you know that in many jurisdictions that is considered harassment and breaking the law and a person found guilty of that can be fined and or put in jail. They can and have been and will continue to be punished for such behavior in most places. And as an example, if someone 'shot the bird' at an officer of the law or a judge and was caught doing it, what do you think would happen to them if you don't believe me? They would most likely either have to pay a fine and thus, incur a record and/or land in jail.

But other such hand signals are indeed also dangerous. I'm sure you and others have heard of the bank robber who walks into a bank and places his fingers in his coat pocket in such a way as to denote he or she has a gun and forces the bank tellers to give them the money. Of course that is also highly illegal to do and carries severe penalties as that little hand gesture caused bank personnel to believe the robber had an actual gun and that they were being robbed.

And then there are other hand signals that are very disturbing as not everyone is acclimated to accept or enjoy them as you and some others may. Many continue to find them offensive and there can be no doubt that is why laws were enacted to punish those who use them and that's just a word to the wise as one can never know who will ultimately turn them in if they take offense to a hand gesture someone made at them.

I am not going to quit using the V for victory sign because one person thinks it is Satanic, I never heard of this before and most people would never think of that. I would guess many things in our life we do maybe even facial expressions someone might take as Satanic if they have a very vivid imagination and time on their hands to think of things like this.

I saw you talking about this the same way anyone else did, by seeing the thread title in the list and I felt like saying something. I'm tired of seeing people take a stand over things that don't matter when there's plenty of serious problems in the world that actually do need attention. So I said something. If you don't agree with it you're more than welcome to say so, but don't act like I don't have the right to add my own opinion into the conversation.

Part of a forum is allowing people the ability to present their varying opinions. The original author of this thread stated theirs, so I stated mine. We both have that right.

People ignoring real issues over stupid little things IS something worry about. Ignorance is DANGEROUS. So no, it's not a waste of time to try to point that out. First of all... The Illuminati is a myth. They were a persecuted group looong ago that rebelled against the Catholic church because men of science were being tortured and murdered for going against strict church law (like that the Earth was flat...)

Hand symbols (and symbols in general) can mean different things in different cultures. The swastika in Nazi Germany and white power groups is a symbol of hate, but on any Buddhist or Hindu painting or picture, it is a symbol of peace, harmony or unity of people. The peace sign (two fingers up) backwards in America is like "bye" but in the UK it's the equivalent to the middle finger.

What I can't seem to understand about this thread is, why are we so concerned with these celebrities and this conspiracy theory that all of them are using these signs to worship Satan? Could it be true? Yes. Is it true they use them in a Satanic way? You don't know, and you never will. What is your evidence? A video posted on YouTube? The same place that said the world was going to end on June 6th of 2006? Where there is an endless supply of cat videos? Where any Tom, Dick, and Harry can post a video of picking their nose? Show me some real evidence, something credible.

A lot of times, those videos are taken out of context and thrown together to project a certain image. And let's just say my hypothetical statement were true, does that really ruin the Macarena for the rest of us, just because one person used it for evil intent? No, because what all of this boils down to the intent in your own heart as you do it.


On the other hand, if these celebrities are genuinely using these gestures to represent Satan, are you going to march up to Beyonce and wag your finger at her? "Now you know the peace sign is wrong and you're worshiping Satan. So stop it."

Most likely, not. Even if you do, do you think that's going to stop her or any of them? No, because we all have free will to make the choice.
Now, I understand the person who started this thread brought this up with some sort of good intention, to warn others. That's fine. The people who have read this, have acknowledged it, and now the choice is theirs. That's it.

What I'm saying is, it's not bad to post stuff like this to raise awareness, but eventually.. it's time to move on.
What we need to be talking about is the Bible and what it teaches. We need to be working on our witness. We live of this world, not in it, which is crawling with sin. Place your eyes on God, and pray for the people who use this gesture in a Satanic way or anyone else who is lost. Pray for one another. Pray for strength and wisdom. We as Christians are not divided amongst one another, we are brothers and sisters who are striving toward the same purpose.

You know...I think this is like off the wall....who really cares what people do with whatever gestures, like im going to smack my kids hand for giving me the okay sign, or by telling him santa is evil because he is pagan etc...; perception is 9 tenths of the game....Remember when elvis shook his hips for the first time? that was evil too right? Heck for all we know...he could have had gas.

People are straining at gnats and swallowing the camel...O wait that happened in the days of Jesus too.

Maybe Evil truly is within the hearts of our perception of such things....its not what enters the body that corrupts but what proceeds out from the heart. Our heart is reflected in our thoughts and actions.

I would urge you to be cautious in viewing every hand gesture as "from the devil" yes, there are some that do originate from evil individuals but they only have such power as we give them...

Heck if my folks would have never told me that stickin my middle finger up was bad...I doubt i would have ever thought about it...

Satan's work is much more in the corruption of innocence than within such simple things...but maybe it is the corruption of innocence at work in focusing on such things.

The term Rock and Roll is actually a reference to sex. Some DJ I can't remember which one, but he didn't know which category to put some new style of music in. He called it Rock and Roll because it made people want to have sex. Music influences us. Christian music stirs feelings of worship and praise. In the same way Satanic inspired music affects us. So, if the entire music industry is saluting Satan as Christians we have a responsibility to avoid it. I got your back on this one, Hungry. People on here gripe about the videos, saying most of them are hoaxes, but you can go on Google images and search for the symbols, and they will come up by the thousands. One in particular I remember is a picture of Michael Jackson all dressed up in his black prince uniform with a band around his upper arm with a number "777" on it, one of the main numbers of the illuminati. Most superstars in pop and R&B flash the symbols with her hands and on their outfits. Checked back through history..... You'll find out that this happened long before the Internet was available.

Go to Google Images and type in satanic hand gestures and symbols, it's not a secret. Satan is proud that these symbols have infiltrated modern American culture and are widely accepted as having a "good" meaning or just being meaningless. This stuff didn't just start on the internet as a part of some conspiracy theory, although the internet has been used to spread awareness. There are books on this stuff.
