Hey guys, im personally a huge metal fan. I love Christian metal in particular. For me, sometimes I feel judged as a Christian for liking metal. I mean, I don't believe it's the devils music like some people out there believe. Just because it sounds dark, doesn't mean it's bad. Nothing wrong with have the ability to scream. The message is all that matters. I love. Christian bands like flyleaf, as I lay dying, demon hunter, wolves at the gate ect. I mean if metal was bad I would feel guilt for listening to it. But I don't. I've prayed and prayed and god has shown me its alright. I don't mean to bash anyone but I'm just stating a strong opinion I have. It's just music. It deserves to be loved and shared not judged.

Ever hear of "Saviour Machine"? My wife's son used to play a 4CD set of their album interpreting the Book of Revelation. I thought it was as good as Handel's Messiah, and I'm a professional music minister.

music makes you feel good, feeling good is not what God wants from us, the devil wants that to happen to you, and your in big trouble if you think feeling good is getting close to God, Romans 8: says, who ever walks in the flesh cannot please God, having loud music is all about the flesh, and your in big trouble for sure.

1 Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

I think God cares more about the heart that the style, Whether it is hymns, metal, pop or other stuff, it can be worship or it can be only music, all depending on what the person singing/ playing / listening intends by it.

Maybe there's nothing wrong with christian metal, but why do i get all these dark and gloomy thoughts of death and destruction when i hear such music? Everything about christian music should help me to worship, not only the lyrics of it.

Psalm 16: 11
You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for ever more.

Sure there are counterfeit ways to experience pleasure, but Christianity is the most joyful thing ever, and feeling joyful makes us feel good. I haven't experienced fulness of joy yet, but God's word is still true.

The joy I experienced with drugs and alcohol as a non Christian was partial and brought creeping death. I don't want to settle for less than I received from the counterfeit, when God promises FULLNESS of joy.

That's just being skeptical. I play metal for the lord. If metal is "the devils music" then all music is "the devils music". People have become a bit to hypocritical. I for one am open minded to all music so that I can grow on knowing what's right and wrong. I dont do it for my own SELFIOUS ways, I do it because god gave me a gift. I intend on using it for him instead of letting people judgements get in the way of his message. I trust in him.

I'm not saying music saved me. But god gave me that for a passion. As long as its a pure and holy passion and do it for the lord,then it's fine. Nothing wrong with music as long as its doing it for the lord. And the reason that metal is dark looking, is because it's expressing emotion in a deep way (not the satanic bands obviously). Music is music. All that matters is how you interpret and use it in your own life. For me, I use it for good. I don't care what people think. It's my source of letting out emotion and if anyone says its wrong, they don't know what they're talking about and are judging it based off of satanic stings theyve seen.

Yeah, well, expect to be judged some more. We just had this discussion on here recently. I'm not even going to waste my time on this topic as i know it won't change anything and people will continue to judge.

Music is an artistic expression of oneself. Anguish, torment, pain, those are all true human emotions. It is not bad to express oneself into music.

Some do it by words. Some by actions. Some give through music. Some do it though other things.

The intent behind something is always more important than what people perceive it to be.

Jesus intent was great. He was perceived as a blasphemer.

Only God can judge you. Because only God knows your true intent.

You owe no explanation of yourself to men.

Don't let fear stifle your joy.

You may believe what you want about metal and rock music being pleasing to the LORD. But I will tell you it is in no way pleasing to him.
We are not to be like the world, we are not to look, act, sound or live like the world.

I once was were you are. I never thought there was anything wrong with this type of music eather, till I gave my whole heart over to God. From that very day this so called christian rock made me very ill phisically.

And NO I was not made to believe it was bad by anyone but God himself. I had no one in my life trying to call me out from the wicked life I once lived. I was called out of that wicked life by God himself.

I am sharing this with you as one that has come from the dark side into the LIGHT. I have experianced it for myself. I have been there and never want to go back.

If God will by his grace, I will never fall back into the darkness of christian rock/metal.

There is nothing Godly about it. Anyone can put a form of godliness on this type of music and call it Christian but that does not make it Christian music.

2 Timothy 3:1-7 (KJV)
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

What's very interesting about this statement is, I've given my whole heart over God. I've had a bad year, and God has used that as the momentum to push me closer and closer to Him and farther from the world, and yet now, whereas I had gotten away from metal in the past, I now have a stronger love for it.

Imagine you don't know Jesus. You absolutely love music, metal in particular. Listening to non-christian metal you are constantly feeding yourself anger, depression, and anguish. But lets say you have a christian friend, who loves Jesus and burns you a christian metal CD. Not only does that christian metal CD relate to the gloom and depression, but there is an offering of hope, and Joy in the overwhelming love, peace, and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

If God led you away from metal then fine, I'm sure it's made you a better person, and I greatly respect you for leaving something behind for Jesus. All I ask is that even if you can't respect the opinions of others, please respect the fact that these bands are doing more than playing loud and distracting music, they are offering people Jesus in a place that they can relate to. I've talked to several people who were led to Christ solely by being ministered to with this music.

If you don't respect the opinion, please respect the ministry.

Believe what you want. I'm a devouted Christian who follows in gods footsteps. I may only be 16, by I have confidence in what I'm saying. Music is what I love and and he gave me it for a reason. I intend to use it in his glory. I put Jesus Christ before religion and people perspectives. Those aren't what save you. God is. He uses things to get you're attention for a good reason. My grades I school have skyrocketed since I got saved and started playing guitar. It's a connection I have. Ever since I started taking his word seriously, my life changed and I love what he's doing in my life. So don't tell me thatthe passion he's given me is bad. I'm open minded as a Christian. I'm not afraid for him to treat me. The only question is, are you able to? That's all I have to say. God bless.

Metal being satan's music? I thought only people from the 80s say that. I thought people think rap music is the devil now.

And the church rejected music in 4/4 time for seventy years back in the 1400's when it first started being used. It was called "tempus imperfectus" and was not allowed to be used in worship. 3/4 time was "tempus perfectus". Why? Scripture proves 4/4 music is sinful, because there are three persons, not four, in the trinity.

Oddly enough this was referenced in association with Bach in a christian metal song. Coincidence?

I listen to a lot of metal.

My opinion is that music is music. There is no such thing as "Christian music" there is only MUSIC. A sound cannot be EVIL and a sound cannot be GOOD. Sound is morally neutral.

However one can judge a song or music based on the contents of its lyrics. But sound in itself is neither evil or good, its only our perception of what is good or evil in terms of sound we are responding too. So if metal sounds "Satanic" but actually has positive lyrics how is it Satanic or evil? Have people heard Satan talk have they? Or perhaps that's just the Hollywood version of how Satan would sound that has left that impression on them. Then they will listen to something like Lady Gaga which is all catchy and happy and dancey but the content is pure POISON. So I ask you which one is more evil?

Metal is not Satanic nor is it evil. There is nothing wrong with a little righteous anger ;) I think more teen Christian boys should listen to it then most of them probably wouldn't be such pathetic wimps and actually be strong CHRISTIAN MEN.
