I'm in a music ministry myself and in our ministry we make it a priority to put Christ Jesus' name in Every song. We are not Ashamed of the testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and we want to let the world know. I think any band that names themselves "Christian" But never says who the name of their God is in their songs should not be called a Christian band. How can a song be Christian if it does not name Christ or talk about what he did, has done or will do clearly? I'm not ashamed to say the name of the Lord Jesus Christ but isn't it interesting that "Christian" Music these days is getting More and More watered down? How often do we hear a song that says Jesus' name? It's very rare. With Christian Metal music it's even more rare. The spirit that Metal has is bad. I know that many people don't think that's the case but the fact of the matter is that it is a malicious and wrathful type of music. Metal is Exactly what the Flesh Loves. It is a wrathful, depressing and Self harming Spirit that entertains our flesh.

James 1:20-22 "For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

Now I'm not Judging you if you listen to Christian Metal. I simply think that most "Christian Metal" Does not glorify God but entices your lust. I also think that it's more about entertainment for most people than it is about worship. I don't think people are serious about God anymore and they don't think spiritually anymore. Personally though I like Christian Rap. I have listened to a lot of Christian Rap that Actually states the name of Jesus and is not ashamed. This is the biggest problem that I have with Christian Metal. Most of it does not glorify the name of Jesus Christ so I don't know who they're singing about. Is it Allah? Or Buddha? Who is it that they're singing/screaming about? (Everything that I said about "Christian Metal" Applies to all other kinds of music that entices your lust and don't mention Christ or what he did/will do/is doing)

Check out the lyrics to a Skillet song Called Monster. It's probably a song that you know. This song, Is Not a Christian song in any way shape or form. He sings about how he feels like a Monster. This is secular that entices the Lust of people and makes people feel depressed and does not give Any hope. Skillet has made Great songs but this one really made me feel bad about their band. The only way this could be a Christian Song is if they would have said in the lyrics that "I feel like a Monster but Jesus makes me feel at peace" Or something to that affect.

First if Satan can penetrate the church then he would have no trouble with the christian rock industry. Secondly if a song glorifies God and praises Jesus then it's a Christian song no matter who wrote it or sings it. Just because it is a "Christian band" doesn't mean it's all Christian music. Make mature decisions on EVERYTHING you listen to and watch. Don't let your guard down. I think it may be more of a way to lead kids out of faith than into it.

It's all about motives for me. If Someone can create any type of music, they could make that music a message of their own pain for instance. They could make it something happy, about a good day in their lives. They could make it sad, about a bad day. They could make it hateful, or they could make it with a loving intent.

Music is just like any other form of expression. Words can be used in similar manners.

I've read all of your posts. You all have good, valid points. I am a singer and musician. I am also in a band and have been for most of my life. I don't listen to metal because it just sounds like noise to me, but that's just me. Other people seem to like it. That's there business. The music my band plays is appropriate for the whole family. People bring their children and the children dance and have fun I can't imagine seeing children at a metal concert. Oh well, I guess metal is not for everybody. Wether it is right or wrong, I don't know. But I will say this, music is very powerful, it moves your spirit and emotions. Just be careful bacause music is very influential.

Sorry, i don't take my spiritual advice from power hungry religious fakes looking to keep a thumb on the uneducated masses by feeding them silly, unfounded and non-biblical doctrines. What does the Trinity have to do with music?
Whhoooaaa!

Talking about putting words in someone's mouth. That wasn't what he meant at all. It usually is a good idea to read a post a couple of times before you make a comment on it.

Ok, Junior, don't tell me how to read posts. Now be a good little boy and go back to your WWE action figures and let the grown ups talk.

Oh my god, the kid is in trouble!

Ex. 20:7
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

Don't call me 'kid.' ;)

And no worries, i can fend for myself... :D

Hey guys, im personally a huge metal fan. I love Christian metal in particular. For me, sometimes I feel judged as a Christian for liking metal. I mean, I don't believe it's the devils music like some people out there believe. Just because it sounds dark, doesn't mean it's bad. Nothing wrong with have the ability to scream. The message is all that matters. I love. Christian bands like flyleaf, as I lay dying, demon hunter, wolves at the gate ect. I mean if metal was bad I would feel guilt for listening to it. But I don't. I've prayed and prayed and god has shown me its alright. I don't mean to bash anyone but I'm just stating a strong opinion I have. It's just music. It deserves to be loved and shared not judged.
I hear you..i myself have listened to metal..mostly secular metal..some christian metal too..i am a huge fan of progressive and melodic death metal..as well as some metalcore..
I have been called immature or wrong for listening to metal..i can understand others who may not understand but i have also seen some who are ok with christian rap artists bash metal..and i used to be very on the defensive..i calmly tell them that the devil did not invent anything..yes there are some satanic metal bands..but there are r'n'b,pop songs..etc that are just about as evil..talking about sex, etc..even some of the secular rap groups are quite horrible..i do not see them as any less 'evil' than some of those secular guttural death metal bands..just keep on listening to what you want, i am sure my pastor himself would disapprove..its all good i cannot agree on every single small detail with everyone, and i think since this is a non salvic issue..its best to just be lead when the Lord leads, and if you feel lead to be ok with listening to metal..than by all means carry on my fellow metalhead..carry on.

ok..i spedread through your long reply..for starters have you ever listened to any true christian metal bands? second..how did skillet get mentioned? skillet is hard rock at best, modern radio rock more than anything remotely metal..
third..i proved my point how many will be ok with the christian rap music..even if it has a 'thuggish' attitude about it, and say baggy jeans sagging off your butt and dressing like you are uneducated brings glory to God..yes that may sound a bit harsh..but if you are going to go to the extremes of saying Metal does not glorify God..then by all means sir do also include rap music, with its 'style' and how it also pleases the 'flesh' and the beats that are made to dance to..and at times we all know rap/hiphop dancing is anything but holy or spiritual dancing..i myself have attended a local 'hiphop' church and i hate to say..there was a racist sentiment amongst some who you could see had a racial chip on their shoulder..and if you were not hiphop..you were not truly accepted..
their pastor is even a prominent christian rap artist who is signed and quite popular.while i loved and respected what he was trying to do, i could not belong to a place which i could never truly be a part of or would be hypocritical in judging my extreme music and not looking at their own extreme music..in that case..lets just all listen to gospel hymns and even avoid some of the poppy stuff which seeks to be radio friendly/listenable for that matter if we are going to bash metal now..

Down, he uses mostly music to manipulate our minds
That's why we need to be careful what we watch and listen to
As it can have an affect and our flesh rises up whether your mature in the
Lord or not .... The lord says live a holy life he doesn't like compromise does he
And yes as a young lad said earlier its about what your screaming to
Becoz remember we are rejoicing to our true king xxx may god show your the write way and bless

I used to listen to hardcore metal and Christian Metal yes. Demon Hunter was my favorite "Christian" Metal band. Even though I never heard the Lord's name even once in their songs. Christian Hiphop Like Lecrae, Dwayne Tryumf and Trip Lee uplift the name of Jesus and preach in their songs. That is much more than I see in any christian metal band. I really don't think dancing has anything to do with the music itself. Christian rap can be uplifting, on the other hand it can be watered down and fake. Same goes for Christian Metal. I would say just watch out for the fake ones because usually when you have a spirit of love you're not screaming at people like a maniac...Usually. I'm in no way saying that it's sin to listen to these bands. I'm just saying All things are Lawful but not all things are profitable and to abstain from all appearance of evil.

People try to use Lucifers music position in heaven to prove something about music, all the while forgetting that God created Lucifer AND music.

PS 'lm*o' is actually not allowed on the site or chat per the Moderators. same with 'WT*' or any other shortcut slang that implies cussing. Just a heads up.

Maybe there's nothing wrong with christian metal, but why do i get all these dark and gloomy thoughts of death and destruction when i hear such music? Everything about christian music should help me to worship, not only the lyrics of it.

I agree with u. like Christian rap. my friend used to blast her music up so loud with Christian rap that you couldn't the difference of it being worldy music or talking about God. in any kind of music, you should know the lyrics and the message. if u don't know why you're listening to it then u have to business listening to it. music does connect to the soul...so be careful of what u choose to listen to. personally I try to stay away from Christian rock rap and r&b music.

most strictly christian bands are bad in my opinion. just because i dont like the adult contemporary, hymn, or pop style of music. I just prefer the heaviness of metal and rock.

God created music, he owns music, all kinds - they're one of his blessings to us. As we have fallen, any genre can be used for good or evil. Even classical, But if we must go back to history, African slaves would sing praises to God while they laboured. They suffered greatly and God was their only hope. From their songs and stylings to God, evolved what is now known as hip hop, rap etc.
