I would actually say it isn't. From a christian worldview sure it might be. But in general no i dont think it is. Christianity has always been prudes so to say, even within marriages there are still sizable portions of christianity that teach sex is only for procreation and only to be done certain ways. I could probably name 5-10 things a husband and wife could do together consensually and get thirty different opinions on whether or not it is appropriate christian behavior, yet in the end its no ones business because they are married and its up to them. Clearly until christianity can learn to accept and understand human sexuality it certanly cant be the judge of it.
That same argument could be used to legalize drugs: 'people should be allowed to use it, because we have to respect their freedom of choice.'
Yet there ARE laws against the possession, trade and use of drugs in place. For a reason, namely to protect the populace from the harmful effects of it. So why shouldn't the government ban porn aswell?
And don't tell me porn is harmless. It creates a false imagine of what intimacy should be, it envokes lust and unnatural desires, it creates a want for more and more perversion. Just look at all the people that are addicted to porn, guys that even don't know even know how to talk to a girl anymore. Porn is everywhere nowadays, so i think the government has an obligation to do something about it's harmful effects.

Not entirely no. I recognize not everyone in the world is a christian and i accept that. Therefore some of my opinions are formed from my belief that its not our job to force our lifestyle onto others. Just like we have the freedom to live how we choose, so do they.

So, you recognize that according to Christianity pornography is morally wrong. Yet, you do not believe it is so. So are you saying you believe Christianity got this one wrong, or just that you don't accept this part of Christianity (that lust is sinful)?
Im saying for christians pornography is wrong. Thats fine. As christians we shouldnt watch it. But just because thats how we choose to live our lives, it doesnt make it right to force it on everyone else. Its not like God gave us free will only to have christians try to strip it from everyone else.

Depends on what you mean by "Free will." Do you think it is okay to make anything illegal on the basis that it is morally wrong? For example, murder?
As christians we are called to live to God's standards. Therefore WE do what is expected of us. Others? They have no such moral restriction on their behavior. Sure there are laws regulating some things, but those are obvious. Do not kill, rape, steal, whatever, those are cores of behavior. And its very irresponsible trying to win an argument by comparing porn to murder in your search for answers. The two are nowhere near each other. One permanently ends someones life and the other is filming of a sex act. Two completely different levels of acts. Besides murder isnt always wrong but then we have caveats for that. Also, the majority of humanity would probably say murder is wrong regardless of what religion they follow or not, porn on the otherhand, you probably wont be nearly as successful at.
Besides making things illegal doesnt stop them...drugs, murder, prostitution, prohibition....so instead of regulating porn as the government has some hand in now, you have made it illegal and therefore devoid of restrictions, allowing quite possibly worse material than what there is now.

A law banning something based on a strictly religious point of view isn't Constitutional.

It is very sad that Christians aren't standing up for what is right and wrong according to the bible. We are so afraid of stepping on toes that it is no wonder our nation has fallen to sin. Christians need to get on their knees, actually read their bibles, and stand up for God. We need morals in our personal lives and yes..in our government. We need to speak up and say "the bible says this is wrong.". I can't believe how many Christians defend their sin with the words "just because it is wrong to you doesn't mean it is wrong to me". it really doesn't matter what I believe or you believe. If the bible says clearly that it is wrong, it is WRONG.

I'm not defending MY right to look at porn. Truth is, I have looked at porn, but I don't do so anymore. I'm saying that as Americans, we cannot sit here and dictate other people's personal at home behavior. It's the same opinion I have with homosexuality and drugs. As long as it doesn't cause harm to others (besides the doer/user) why should we dictate WITH LAW what they have to do. As for drug and porn ADDICTIONS, we, as Godly people, can help them get medical and psychological help. However, I do not believe that we, as a nation, should dictate a person's private solo-sexual behavior.
Tearose, The Bible is much clearer on the matter of strong drinks being a sin. Prohibition of alcohol was tried, and that law was a massive failure, because it didn't take away anyone's desire for whiskey. Pretty much the same goes for an anti-porn law.

First it starts with what you can watch in the privacy of your home... next thing you know the government is monitoring your every move. Let's not push our Christian views on everyone. Yes, porn may destroy marriages, but if it isn't your marriage; you shouldn't worry about it lol.

Yeah, I think it should be regulated better.
Not to be a Nancy Pancy but it's just very dirty. I use to watch it a lot before I got all back into faith and all ( for real this time ha ha,) it definitely begins to desensitize as the generations pass. Evoking those oh so enticing lusty natures. A lot of people feel it doesn't effect them, but this generations is definitely more sexually liberated than generations passed. Well maybe not the 70's lol - my aunt tells me there was a lot of drugs and fornication
Anyway, yeah def more sexual liberation, and I'm more convinced that's not a great thing. Especially from a religious stand - point.
