1 Peter 2:9 is really a good verse, "but ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." Isn't that wonderful? We, they youths of today are the chosen ones to make a difference in this world but we choose to spend our times playing games that the devil created for kids to focus on him. I admit I do play games, but reading that verse made me realize I must step up myself.

I'm a pretty big gamer myself although I really only play sports games, (Fifa, Ncaa Football, Nba, etc.)

I also don't see anything wrong with video games, as long as they don't take over your life and you don't spend too much time on them i say it's fine.

I used to play a lot of grand strategy games, such as Paradox Interactive makes. I was also fond of puzzle games. These days, however, the medium is too passive an unreal to hold my attention. I prefer reading or working.
Video games are a good way to introduce children to stories and task-based learning, but I think they are more of a replacement for social existence for many people.

I was very involved in games for a good amount of my life thus far. I wouldn't say I've quit playing games, but cut back on it all quite a lot. I started working with a group of gamers and mods on a large project for a about two years and I was becoming to focused on it. I dropped lightly and now I would consider myself as a 'casual gamer'. I don't think gaming is bad, but having a clear focus on what is important; God, Faith, Relationships is and obvious must.
I'm a casual gamer, and games have greatly affected me: Games like Medal of Honor (the old one) and Age of Empires sparked my interest in history; while games like Daggerfall, Oblivion, and Tomb Raider brought out my adventurous side, and even now heading out into the wilderness by myself is a frequent and enjoyable thrill.
I used to play Call of Duty Black Ops online a bit, as well as Nazi Zombies. I'm pretty good at Nazi Zombies, if I do say so myself. 
My brother is trying to get me to play Minecraft. Haven't decided if I'll dabble in that or not. Honestly I think I'd like it but I can also see it being something I spend too much time on.
Other than that, I like playing things like Pikmin, Super Smash Bros (which I'm also good at) and Mario Kart on the Wii (well, as Gamecube games) but not on a super regular basis. I know, I'm SO hardcore.

If you can play violent or occult based video games without them influceing you then i don't see a problem with them. Also if you allow them to control your life then you probably should stay away from them. However MY OPINION is not the one that matters. Only God's opinion really matters. So if you are asking this question then MAYBE He is trying to tell you that you are allowing the video games to interfere with your relationship with Him, but ultimately the decision to play video games is between you and Him not anyone else...

usually these Games that we play have worldly or demonic roots, look it up and see. and many of these games come in with a package of demons, who basically will oppress people in their dreams, drain them while they play, i mean consider this (do you get closer to God when you play these games, or do you seem to just wander all the way at the back of the line?). its a tough truth, since i too loved video games. yet again, what i know, GOD always is the one with the final call.

Sure, some games can draw people away from God and all games, if their use is unchecked, can become idols but I think your line of reasoning (that demons are packaged with games, draining players while they play) is a bit ridiculous and extreme - you're giving the Enemy far too much power and credit. Compared to God, he's small-fry. Video games are a form of entertainment that can be used for good or evil, not just evil.

I'm sorry but "these games come in with a package of demons" just gave me the funniest mental image. Pre-packaged demons in a video game...I can't even explain what's in my head.
On a serious note though, I can see where you're coming from, but I'd have to agree with Tintin. I think as Christian you do have to be careful that it doesn't become an addiction, idol, or unhealthy outlet. That being said, I don't think videogames are inherently evil; it's how you use them and how dependent on them you are.

Two of my best friends I play games with, it is a good time to relax, talk, and do something more productive than simply talking on the phone. We have a much better connection with each another because of it. It was also a better outlet than calling most of the time. I couldn't really spend hours on the phone with my friends for multiple reasons; One, it is just a bit more of a hassle, two, phone typically died, three, I cant do much of anything else while trying to balance a phone by my ear. With a game, we have time to just 'hangout' where as we normally wouldn't be able to physically. It was a common ground as well, instead of trying to travel their way, or they travelling my way, we can just pop on chat and play.
