I can stand the pacifists like Tolstoi, but leftist contextless abuse of the Bible to beat it into some hippy nonsense gets my hackles up. I need to stop reading this thread, as I already have enough temptations to wrath as it is.
Hahaha ur crackin me up, it"ll be alright Progressive one :D

For the Kingdom of God is not something we will look at and say 'Lo! behold, there it is!' The Kingdom of God is of peace, love and joy in the Holy Spirit.

By these words, progressivenerdgirl, we see that the Kingdom of God does not flourish by laws, decrees, isms, or certain letter, but by the aforementioned qualities being held above that of perceived freedom, the need for violence, condemnation, anger, wrath, retaliation, hatred, dishonesty, hopelessness, unfair demand, spite, jealousy and all other manner of iniquity by which the human race is guilty.

Only when the mind is focused on the practice of love, patience, kindness, compassion, faith, hope, charity, forgiveness, meekness, humility and peace, can 'Be it on earth as it is in heaven', be realised as it is intended.

However we know that not every soul can inherit and understand such focus. And our God has held his son as ransom for this reason.

Yet I would rather come to God humble, allowing others passage before me, and saying 'I tried God, yet I understand I am no better than your enemy, because of this; In Adam all die, yet so as in Jesus all will live. Thank you'

Question; will there be guns in heaven?

The part we are all missing is that "Peter attacked" Peter did not have the authority to attack.
How many times did Jesus tell him this must happen to fulfill scripture?
Was anything done to Peter for him to have to protect himself?
"And He said to them, "When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?"
So they said, "Nothing."
Then He said to them, "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: 'And He was numbered with the transgressors.' For the things concerning Me have an end."
So they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords."
And He said to them, "It is enough." " (Luke 22:35-38, NKJV)

How many men and just 2 swords/knives?

I don't see it where Jesus told every man to go packing heat.

You are Totally exactly correct, as this circumstance wasnt SELF defense.
It was more like prematurely jumping in for your buddy when he didnt ask for help.
Peter acted hastily likely driven by his emotions in an attempt to protect his friend and his leader without being rational and realizing the full situation.

Its an optimistic thought, but what does one do then in the case of someone using a knife instead, or a person who outskills you in self defense or strength and uses simply their own hands, how do you then defend yourself or your wife or your child against an attacker influenced by the enemy without being able to make them fear or respect you if such a person does not respect God?

And most importantly, how does one protect themselves from becoming enslaved by their own govt. when they have guns and the citizens guns have been taken by the enslaver to make sure we dont have a viable means of resisting such an overwhelming force in order to discourage enslaving the nation?
Remeber how the slaves were treated when brought from Africa?
How many officials of Govt do you propose would adhere to this scripture?
Eph 6:9
9And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

When the Mark of the beast is issued which is likely one of the reasons for disarming the population so there is minimal resistance against being forced to accept it, if they are forcing the people to take the Mark we are so instructed to reject would they then be treating those enslaved by biblical standards when the punishment for accepting the mark is this as told in Revelation 14

9And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb

Some food for thought to chew on for awhile.....

Revelation 13
9If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity:
he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword.
Here is the patience and the faith of the saints

Respectfully,

I read in the English papers there are drunken brawls every night of the week. I dread to think what would happen if they pulled out guns on each other.

So basically what you are saying is... you didn't like my comment so you felt compelled to insert yourself and CREATE a dispute? 1) I have no idea that was your father... so had it not been... would you have inserted yourself into the dialogue in THE SAME defensive way???? 2) Do you commonly insert yourself into other dialogues involving your father... Like with your mother or a neighbor??? The reason I am asking is because what you are demonstrating is something called "tribalism" in sociology circles... it flies in the face of scriptural mandates of order and authority among Christians as well as goes against "honor thy father". This is an open public discussion forum... my comment was not directed to you and I am pretty sure your father could recognize the summation is an opinion not an accusation... you should learn the difference yourself. Creating a dispute where non exists for the benefit of standing for your father... is not very honoring as you are usurping his authority to speak for himself. He is welcome to admonish me or some other spiritual equal could do the same... you however are out of order. To clarify... MY POST IS INTENDED FOR YOUR INSTRUCTION NOT TO ENGAGE IN CONFLICT OR DISPUTE THE MATTER. Thanks for your consideration and have a good day.
i am glad my son defended me, it was no dishonor, thanks buddy. It seems to me a child defending his or her parents is a good thing. Especially when they see someone is degrading their parent in a place the whole world can see. The forums question is GOD or guns. i just choose GOD that was my answer. Never did i say i'm for gun control, in fact i feel that is crazy. When i was a child i had guns and hunted. i was in the army. Something happened inside of me that i didn't want anything to do with guns anymore, stopped hunting became vegetarian, got rid of guns. Never did i say i was against people owning guns, was just stating i choose GOD.

Forgive me for offending anybody, that was not my intent i was only answering question. Love you All. Christ Jesus is Lord

We are all at different stages in our spiritual growth and it seems to me you took a step up the ladder of maturity. May the Lord bless you and yours and indeed everyone here. :)

I think you have to be an American to really get that just a bit more than a hundred years ago there were parts of the nation where law was a circuit court judge that rode into town every month or two, and a sheriff.
(same could probably be said for my beloved Canadian neighbors, for whom I am profoundly thankful)
we-e-e-e-e-l-l-l not really.
in 1967 her majesty let us think we were independent...but everything here is still The Crown this and that (= city of London cabal).

here's a cop shop from c. 1905 Saskatchewan.
the "the Mounted Police" became the Royal Northwest Mounted Police after King Edward VII bestowed the "Royal" prefix in 1904:rolleyes:

we used to be kind of proud of our police.

that's over now.
we turned a corner with this event:

Taser video shows RCMP shocked immigrant within 25 seconds of their arrival
Taser video shows RCMP shocked immigrant within 25 seconds of their arrival - British Columbia - CBC News < click

and this stuff:

G20 police state < all western cops got the same black gear and stuff at the same time - 9-11.
handy, that.

"don't taze me bro"

course, there's the occasional exception:D

A sword means a 'tongue' in biblical language. And a 'flash of lightning' is used as a term several times, for 'beholding something'. In one instance it was an apostle beholding, or realising, Satan.

Therefore, flaming swords are tongues, speaking the truths, and lightning bolts are flashes of insight. 'Lighting the truth', so to speak.

Jesus sword is 'double edged', because his truths are upheld by his life and actions. He was sinless.

do we have christians who think they are God?

who gave man permission to take vengeance?

who gave man permission to take God's image of himself life?

is there any rules written anywhere that a man can take another man life?

Matthew 5:37-39

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

God speaking of himself to Job.
32He fills his hands with lightning
and commands it to strike its mark.
33His thunder announces the coming storm;

even the cattle make known its approach.
35 Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?

2 Chron 7
1 When Solomon finished praying, a bolt of lightning out of heaven struck the Whole-Burnt-Offering and sacrifices and the Glory of God filled The Temple
Genesis 3:24
After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life

Feel free to Take some time to rethink your last statement whether these things of God were metaphrical or not.

Guns = protection

Our babies are dying
Our children are dying
Our wives, mothers, sisters and women are dying

Because we have STUPIDLY left them un-protected.

What is sad is that we have let our govt. leave them un-protected.

What is sad is that people are blaming the tool, the inanimate object instead of actually protecting anyone. What ever happened to taking some responsibility, to taking action???

Jesus is the protector not a gun or any man

2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
Proverbs 2:7
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

The flaming sword (truthfullness spoken out) guards the tree of life. What is more fitting, that truth guards the tree of life? God is as a flame. Ever heard that? God is truth.

When we find the truth, and adhere to it, we are in effect, eating from the tree of life.

Fills his hands with revealing truth and commands that when it is unleashed, it strikes its mark. Do you send the truth back like a messenger? Does it announce itself saying 'here I am'?

No. The truth, just as a lightning bolt, once realised, can't be 'unrealised'. It is an intense flash. It opens one's eyes.

What about the people around the Christian who don't know Christ?

Just let them fend for themselves...?? Not on my watch.

Jesus said let them grow together

Matthew 13:

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

good grief, who's worshiping the State??
that wasn't my intent, at all. :)

Believe me, I recognize the problems with gov't here.
And no King but Jesus! (thanks Rick :) )

And you're right, slaves do very quickly learn to adapt to their chains.
Just look at the illegal stuff our gov't does, but it's been done so gradually,
we're like the proverbial frog in the pot of water.
It's not only that almost no one minds...almost no one even notices. :(

My generation doesn't understand freedom like my parents' did, and my children's even less so.
But as my husband says, God has a Plan! :)
Hey Psychomom. You're right, the goverment IS the problem. They are trying to take away the basic rights of individuals to protect their families and property. The bible clearly distinguishes between murder and killing in self defense. For those who profess that we should love our enemies, I would like to see how much love they demonstrate after they have been shot, and some brigand is having his way with their families.

The media loves to focus on stories of the illegal use of firearms to kill but ignores the many stories where otherwise defenseless people, have protected themselves from armed intruders, and perhaps would not be alive today if they had not been properly trained in how to use firearms.

The media and the govenment love to exploit emotional issues so that they can get people to think with their emotions, rather than with reason.

"There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."
James Madison, speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 16, 1788

Jesus said give him the other cheek to smite and give them the coat
