in reality., he leads sinners. who have been saved by Grace, if we could stop being sinners, we would stop having the need to be lead by the spirit. and the need for grace.
Woud not the Spirit bring the sinner to a contrite heart so that he would turn around and be led by the Spirit and not the flesh. Is it not the saints who has the Spirit and are led and not sinners, seeing that the Spirit is given to those who dwell in God? Do sinners dwell in God?

Fathers I write unto you because... young man because...little children because....but then again, when the times come when we do not hearken to Him, we do have an Advocate with the Father. But then again, the one who loves abides in the Light and there is no occassion to stumble found in him.

So my friend, does it not all broil down to love or not to love instead of sin or not to sin? When we, the child of God, do not love then we sin and it is then that we Christians have an Advocate with the Father, understanding that we are not under the Law but under His Spirit as our Schoolmaster.

Thus, the necessity of follow the Spirit where He leads, so that we love and not stumble.

yes, you hit it on the head. When we are self focused, we are in sin, when we are outward focused. we are in the spirit.

then again. How many times a day do we do something (anything) which is self focused?

It is true that if the Christian perfectly, and fully followed after the Spirit every minute of every day they would lead sinless lives. The reality of which escapes each and everyone of us
I agree to the Throne of Grace and to our Advocate, but at least you understand the administration of the Spirit in this post. Do you agree that this is something we should strive (for those offended by this word, then 'try over and over') to follow as the best we can and approach that Throne as often as needed?

So you never stumble? Sure I do, hence the reason why I continuiously speak about the Throne of Grace and the Advocate with the Father. But I do not live a habitual lifestyle in opposition to the will of God.

IMHO this is what you need:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your body, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind, the greater your love for God, the more you will deny yourself, take up your cross, follow after the leading of the Holy Spirit and walk ever closer with God

I'm reminded of the horse that is led to water but won't drink.

We are led by the Holy Spirit but like the Samaritan woman at the well we need to drink the living water.
those being led by the Spirit ARE the sons of God so i have no idea what you're talking about.

really?
that's the Law.
not the Gospel.

anyone saying they keep the Law without downgrading it to match their performance sure needs to hear the Gospel more, imo.

[or maybe they need more Law until they find out what trouble they're in without the Gospel:)]

*cough*

surely you folks don't think you obey those two commands [which encompass the whole Law] do you?
if you think you do, Christ died for nothing since you are fulfilling the whole of the Law.

really?

Q:

who here claims to fulfill the Law?

I am sorry if I chose words to reply to cfultz that you felt were wrong or misplaced. But it does seem to me that the more we love God, the closer we will come in our walk with him, the more we will yield our lives to him. You may disagree, that's fine, but that is what I was trying to express, in my bumbling way, some of us are less articulate than others I guess

that's cool.
it's just that some ppl always choose that particular passage and claim it is:

1) the Gospel
2) they fulfill it...anyone who says this still doesn't know the Law....wouldn't you agree?

if we stumble at all, we failed at Command #1.

i wonder how many ppl are shipwrecked when they hear the Law and are told it's the Gospel?
they go along thinking they're loving God and neighbor according to those Commands....then they come across something like this....

James 2:10
For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it

if they realize on Wednesday they DIDN'T love God with everything in them, what condition are they in on Thursday?

The law can only mak you conscious of your sin Rom 3:20
To be acceptable under the law we would have to perfectly obey it at all times
I fully agree with James2:10

Not sure where we disagree here, if you feel we do, I would be grateful for you to advise me
It might be good to read posts in a wee bit more detail before responding(something I have many times been guilty of myself)
