The word of God is our weapon- it crushes everything
That is true, but God works through people and as we can see from this forum even those who call themselves Christians disregard the word of God, some even twist scripture to make out they have God's blessing!!

A simple hand gun will do what you want Zone.

“I am a strong supporter of a person’s right to keep and bear arms; however it is time to institute some stiffer laws concerning assault type weapons and semi-automatic handguns with extended load magazines,” Marshall wrote in his January newsletter posted on his website.

“These type weapons have one, and only one, purpose and that is to kill people and sometimes many people, he said. “A person can very easily defend themselves or their loved ones with a gun that holds fewer rounds. Today guns, be they assault type rifles or semiautomatic handguns, hold up to 100 rounds of ammunition. Even a novice shooter could empty a 100 round magazine in less than a minute. In my opinion these weapons are nothing more than weapons of mass destruction. I believe that it is time to pass another Federal Assault Weapons ban such as the one that expired in 2004. Limit the number of rounds a weapon can hold without reloading and at least make a mass murderer have to drop a magazine and put another one into his weapon. That one act alone may save untold lives and misery being caused today.”

Montgomery County Sheriff D.T. Marshall

This is misinformation prompted by an uneducated liberal agenda in order to try and distort the view of the publics perception.
They use a lot of what ifs and maybes
Thats when courts start going wrong is making laws based upon what ifs and maybes instead of using cold hard facts.
Heres a few facts For reference provided by FBI statistics
more murders were commited in a year (2011)
by Knives ...1694
by Blunt objects ....496
by Personal weapons such as hands and feet....726
Than with any rifles...323

Notice the higher comparison of all other weapons used than that with a gun, let alone a rifle capable of firing any number of rounds (and its actually more like 45- 60 rounds per minute)
One has to depress the trigger for each round to fire just the same as with a revolver pistol.

The number of rounds capable of being fired is irrelevant since as the statistics show if someone is intent on muderering a weapon will be found by the initiator even if its just their hands (notice hands and feet were used by over a 2:1 ratio compared to rifles)

Additionally The so called term "assault weapon" is a fabricated term as of 1986 again by the Liberal agenda to assign a menacing perception of firearms to the uneducated public more based upon their looks rather than their function to slowly integrate stricter gun control upon peaceable citizens who never use their guns for crime.
They like to use unfounded statistics and madeup terms to accomplish their deception and to justify their agenda.

You will never hear a criminal say...
"Oh darn they just imposed stricter gun laws, I better turn in my weapon"

But you will hear an unjustly disarmed citizen explain how they became a victim for being deprived the means of proper self defense.

I notice you don't include hand guns. And then you accuse others of spreading misinformation

Number of people killed by guns in the United States in 2004: 29,569

Percentage breakdown by US gun deaths in 2004, by type:

* 16,750 suicides (56% of all U.S. gun deaths)
* 11,624 homicides (40%)
* 649 unintentional shootings, 311 from legal intervention and 235 from undetermined intent (4%).

That averages out to 81 people dying everyday from guns. And also some gun ownership stats:

More than 100 million handguns are owned in the United
States primarily for self‐defense, and 3.5 million people have permits to carry concealed handguns for protection. Currently, the population of the U.S. is around 300 million people.

Luke 11:21
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe

Romans 13
Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

Proverbs 25:26
Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.

.......
I notice you didnt answer my question regarding who invented the sword

I might expect that from a supporter of killing machines

Luk 11:21 When a strong man armed,.... By the strong man, is meant the devil; See Gill on Mat_12:29

Cars are not designed to kill, guns are.

You buy a car to get from A to B. You buy a killing gun.

Enjoy your chains.
We aren't yet enslaved to that extent. But keep up the hope, slave.

Slaves are not bothered by anything.
The whip, the lash, the cat-o-nine tails they get used to.
As I said, enjoy your chains.
It's no surprise to me, or us who have a modicum of freedom here in the U.S
that a subject like you would find offense.
As I said, may your chains rest lightly on you, (I mean that in in the kindest way possible).
Enjoy.

Your stats bleat of a hankered down individual.
Such an one that rues for the freedom others have.
Don't worry about us here in the Land of the Free.
We have the right to go to college AFTER our pre high school test scores.
You are funneled into the profession chosen for you.
We can choose.
I know that's a mind bender for one brought up in a socialist society , but its true.
As I blessed you before, I will yet bless you again; - may your chains rest lightly upon you.

America is also much larger than those countries. It seems every time I see one of these polls no one says, America count in g ALL 50 states has this percent of suicides or gun related deaths. So how many per state?

I don't own a gun, but the thought has crossed my mind to get trained and buy a gun. If someone is going to try to kill my family and or myself I think I will take them along with me.

It tells you at the top, it is a percentage of the population.

I'm not sure about the logic there, zero gun deaths would be best in my opinion.

The point is no one counts all the prevention of crimes by guns.
There are no statistics for the prevention of crimes because the crimes were prevented from happening.
Another benefit from living in a free society where the law abiding can arm themselves.

There must be a lot of crime if those gun deaths only reflect a small percentage of total crime.

Some society. If that's freedom I fell sorry for you. Freedom to kill, freedom to commit crime.

It's so bad everyone has to be their own militia-man.

HORRENDOUS.

Not at all, I've lived in the same place for 19 years (with a business no less) and not a 'widget' has gone missing.
The only murders in the county I live in(90,000) have been drug related, and very few of them.
It's just not the shoot 'em up west you think it is.
Not at all, not at all.
