Let me give you a little history. My parents were missionaries to the Philippines before WW2. My father was Captain of a "Gospel Ship" that took missionaries all over the islands. Jolo Island, in the extreme south, was rather primitive in the ‘30s with a large Muslim population, but my father decided to go ashore and invited me, his eight old son, to go with him. Unbeknownst to us, the Muslim imams up in the hills were feeding their flocks beetlenut (a local narcotic) and telling them if they went to town and killed a few Christians, particularly if they got a white missionary, that they'd get few extra virgins in Paradise.

Well, this crazed Muslim with jihad on his mind, comes running down the dock at us swinging a native sword called a bolo. My father reaches down for my hand and says, “Stand fast son.” He then throws his sword cane up in the air and grabs it by the small end. Now that sword cane had a large solid silver head, about the size of a hardball. Well, this screaming native tries to behead my father, who parries and clubs the guy across the side of the head, full force, probably killing him. This is life or death, so it was no love tap on the noggin.

Of course, my father could have fallen to his knees and sung a few hymns, in which case, I wouldn’t be here to tell you about it, would I? Point being: Christians back then appear to have been made of sterner stuff or, with all due respect, could we possibly be confusing the wimpy attitudes, so popular in the churches today, with sanctity?

Point taken
But

Lets read some words from Jesus own mouth

Matthew 7:6 (KJV)
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

This applies when Jesus said it, with your father and today

We need to stop giving the pearls to people who have. No love or respect for Jesus

My great grandfather and grandad both served in WW2 and in Egypt and Suez. My father was a boxer.

Two of my closest friends are soldiers in the British Army. I myself have always been a fighter. Then I saw God.

I can tell you, weapons and violence have got no part in following Jesus. And anyone who wants to talk about being 'wimpy', and by 'anyone' I mean you, needs to stop conforming to the world's idea of what a strong man is.

My mother used to say 'you're a strong young man. It takes a strong man to win a fight, but you know son, it takes a stronger man to walk away and avoid one altogether'.

Being a man is not about having a bigger stick than the other guy.

If everyone agreed with you there never would have been a United States. And like I said, if my father hadn't had a different attitude, I wouldn't be here.

In the words of Hulk Hogan

Amen Brother

We have men who think they are men ad we have women who think they are married to a man

A man is the servant of God
A women is the servant of God

A Godly man
A Godly woman

There is a difference between a man and a Godly man
There is a difference between a woman and a Godly woman

Peace !

Are you sayin that man setup the United States ?

Lets read

Jeremiah 25:17-22 (KJV)
Then took I the cup at the Lord's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the Lord had sent me: [18] To wit , Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day; [19] Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; [20] And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod, [21] Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon, [22] And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea,

All over the bible The Lord talks about the islands of the sea

The United States is a big island

God setup the Unitrd States

Not man!

This is not the time or him to keep his mouth close

The time is for this and he spoke it and he pursues it

Psalm 34:14 (KJV)
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

God's sword will always overcome your man made weapon of war

Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God's sword will always win!
He will raise you up at the last day

In Jesus kingdom those people who are blessed in the first resurrection where are there weapons?
In the next life as your money so it will be with your weapon you cannot take it with you!

When Jesus return and setup his kingdom where are the weapons of war?

Jesus is in control

A bird cannot be caught in a snare without The Lord knowing about it

Amos 3:4-6 (KJV)
Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? [5] Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? [6] Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it ?

The Lord is in control

Keep in mind many and many gun owners are very emotional. There actions and mind is strictly emotional whether its a discussion or debate, just look at this thread and all the news on TV .

Most civilized people don't like to be around brawling, troublemaking, loud mouth people
So what left? Quite meek and wimpy humble people.

Jesus and Moses was meek we are in good company!

Jesus spoke to people who believed in him! Jesus did not speak to the other false Gods or faiths. Why should we?

The Lord said

Whosoever will Come

Revelation 22:17 (KJV)
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

So much for missionaries

Gun advocates in this manner shall you pray

Matthew 6:7,9-13 (KJV)
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. [9] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. [10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. [11] Give us this day our daily bread. [12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. [13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Ask The Lord to deliver you from evil instead of trusting in your own hand!

How far do we take the "trustin God" concept?

Do we leave doors unlocked cuz we're "trustin God"?
Do we not wear a seat belt cuz we're "trustin God"?
Do we not have anti-virus cuz we're "trustin God"?

Do we not have a firearm to protect our family cuz we're "trustin God"?

How far do we take it?

I find many of the "trustin God"ers are very inconsistent in their application of their ideal.
lol be careful you are coming off as if trusting God is vain!! Ones level of faith is key here.

Of course the Lord established this country, but He didn't just wave His mighty hand over the land and say, "Be the United States of America." He could have of course, but He used patriotic men with (dare I say guns) i.e., muskets, rifles and cannons to accomplish it.

It's just like Thomas Jefferson said, "Those who turn their guns into plowshares will be the slaves of those who don't."

I want to point out one more time.....your speaking for Jesus.
Your doing poorly the way you use scripture, most of the time
nothing you use as scripture has the least to do with self defense.
Just remember your putting yourself in the place to be speaking
for the Lord. Thats makes u a false teacher or truth teacher.
Want u to keep that in mind.
