Speaking of pennies...not sure if this is happening in the US yet, but in Canada we're no longer making pennies, they're being phased out of circulation. I guess its costing more to make them then they're worth.

That's sad. Just leave it to the government to come along and screw up something that's not broke. All they have to do is make them out of less expensive metal instead of copper if producing them is really getting too expensive.

As far as i know there are no plans to do away with pennies in the US, but the government here does want to do it. They are just waiting for the right moment I guess.
 
Its been proposed a few times in the US (as well as getting rid of the nickel), but it just gets shot down.

If we reeaaaaally wanted to cut costs related to printing and destroying currency, we could just operate entirely on debit cards but people would absolutely FREAK out, particularly the elderly.

(If you're ever in a US city with a fed resererve office, take a tour....you learn all kinds of neat currency facts. I've visited 4)
 
I am a freelance artist currently but I am working toward a degree. I used to work for a packing/shipping company but when business slowed down they dropped me. :/

That would be a lot like how the anti-christ would want to run things (everyone required to have a mark on them in order to buy or sell). Instead of a debit card, it could be an RFID chip implanted in everyone's skin. A judge just allowed a Texas elementary school to require students wear badges with implanted RFID chips in them. I'll have to find the article. It happened after the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.

There is a lot I am tempted to say about contemporary view vs. actual biblical context of the 'anti-christ', I'm sure Zao knows what I'm gonna say...but I'll step back from derailing this thread. I hope others do to.
