Kinda curious on this one...what would make people think that?
I don't talk much. I'm a loner. I take my work very seriously and am very aggressive about taking care of business. Few people see the side of me those in these forums see. Few get that close.

Hmmm... Well I had a boss tell me I was just too curvy for a white girl. All I could think of was "we'll, you better take it up with my maker."

My mom used to tell me being a Christian was just a stage that I'd get over.

Ive had two boyfriends. The first one was Panamanian/Jamaican and everyone assume I was just gah gah over black boys. Sorry, I just like boys. My second was a 6'2" 400 lb conga playing Mexican. People assumed I had a thing for Samoan guys. Uhm, again, no I just like boys.

i used to sing in a gospel choir and I announced our concert in a class. Some guy stood in face me face and said, "White girls can't song gospel." I stared him down and said, "Watch me!"

I tried to join MEChA in college and they told me I want Latin enough.

Everyone assumes I'm Irish. They think I'm lying when I tell them I'm Spanish/Portuguese. Though those would only be native North Americans (north of Mexico). Anyone born in another country has no problem guessin correctly. My fair skin, blonde hair and green eyes comes from the condition I have which effects melanin.

I've had just about every African American and young person stereotype assumed of me. People say I "sound white", though I've never thought it was possible to hear a color. :p People have assumed I listen to rap, play basketball or football, live in a 'bad' neighborhood, go to an all "black" or predominantly "black" church, etc. I've also had people speak to me in a condescending tone with the assumption of inferiority due to age, even teens who don't realize my age have done this to me. It's so annoying.

Is that the way you've always been or is this a relatively new thing? I, personally, am much the same. I tend to be quiet, once I get to know you well I'm more outgoing, but never a whole lot. I also find it extremely difficult to let people in to what I'm about...

Yep. Exactly. I have pretty much always been that way, although I'm more outgoing now than when I was a kid. I was extremely shy in school. I am perfectly content not talking for hours.

Some things I've been told a few times by different people:
''So you are Spanish!'' - ''No, I'm Mexican, I speak Spanish''
''You know how to make tamales right? You need to teach me how!'' (This seems to be a common question to Mexicans living in California)
''WHAT, you're 20 and you've never had a boyfriend? You are lying!''. For some reason people think it's hard to survive the teen years without a boyfriend.

Btw, I do know how to make tamales.

That sounds like me. It even sounds like something I'd say...except add more sarcasm. Maybe the last line would have said "Everyone around me is completely content with me not talking for hours..."

I love being alone, in fact, I have to force myself to go out and be in social situations. I love road trips, and actually prefer to drive solo, rather than have a car full of chatty Cathys... I've got to drive to Michigan in the morning for a funeral (my best-friend's dad died Wednesday), and though the reason I'm going stinks, I'm excited about the trip...

Stereotype or not all we need is more of christ and strength.... Atimes people judge from the outward look and not the inside, the content is what matters, the hight of spirituality in you matters, and mind you, you are what you know, how mch of christ do you know? God isn't a respecter of anyman, whatever he's done with you he will repreat to others

People assume that because I'm tall, I must play basketball. ... They assume that because I'm slim, that I mustn't eat much. People assume that my being tall is always a great thing (and by golly, do they remind me of this daily!)
This! ^^^

I snowboard and there are lots of stereotypes that come with that...the only true one is a general dislike for skiiers. :p

Never was that much of a Springsteen fan...Classic Bon Jovi is great, Clapton is amazing, and Floyd still put on the best concert I'd ever been to. Not to spark another international incident, but I really like Rush. I also like metal and have gotten into drumstep a bit lately...I like OLD country, not a big fan of most of the new stuff...

Gabe and I will agree with you on Rush...one of the best drummers ever. Long before I was born my mom was a C&W backup singer, so I grew up listening to it and pretty much everything else. As long as it's not Porter Wagoner level whiney, I can deal. :) I have not heard anything new I like for about 5-10 years. HUGE smooth jazz fan though. Clapton OWNED the CD with this song, which sounds even better at full volume/70 mph.

I think the biggest stereotype that applies to me would be...I'm a big guy, very physically imposing, or so I've been told. Well, I've seen women hide their kids and people hit their power locks on their car when they see me walking through a parking lot. Like I'm going to grab their kids and haul them into my 'free candy' van and take them home to stay in the pit I dug in the crawl space under my shed. Puh-leese. Everyone knows the guys to watch out for are the ones who have 'Wayne' as their middle name, like Jim Wayne Doe or Donny Wayne James...those guys are creepy.

(All kidding aside, I do understand why I get the reaction that I do, so I try to minimize scaring people...)
Hey I'm scared of you, but it wasn't your size. It was your male magnetism that scares me.

Oh no!! Another ego inflated!

Noone has ever asked me, but I've heard of people asking that question to other Mexicans. Usually people from other continents. Some of my friends jokingly say I speak Mexican, not Spanish haha .

Eh, I'm so full of hot air now that a little more wouldn't even be noticed.
