LOL no no Batman.
i don't believe you're a marxist.

see, there you go again.
not understanding.

you don't know you're conditioned.
that's how it works.

and that's what's sad.
Well everyone is conditioned.

Why is it you think I'm conditioned by Marxists?

Oh, I agree that there's a lot that science can't tell us.

I guess I'm wondering how you can tell that what you're feeling is a spiritual realm and not just emotions?
Things in the spiritual realm will establish themselves thru 2 or more witnesses, and be repeated, whereas emotional things tend to come and go. With practice you can learn to discern and test the 'voices' and where they come from. But you first have to acknowlege them as being there, else you're just chasing a ghost, pun intended.

I think there's a whole lot science can tell us, that's not being told because it's not being read right. There's no conflict. God says He spoke it all into being out of nothingness ... science tells us out of nothingness, kaboom there it was. God says He took a single rib from the man to create woman. Science tells us that a single missing RNA is all that differs the male and female zygotes. This thing about science honing in on dark matter and energy, and gathering physical evidence that we are but a small portion cut off from a much huger realm of existence, is incredibly exciting. Last time man developed this kind of ability, well, big things happened.

Don't believe the Bible. Believe what you do with your hands and get in return, believe what you say and hear in return, what you see and interact with every day. Ask the unknown God of creation to show you this other side. For once you understand that, you will understand the truth that is in the Book, better than those who try to teach that which they don't know.

Batman007, this isn't related to the rest of the thread but I wanted to answer your question.

Do I currently work in the field of psychology? No, not currently. I sort of used to, but I don't anymore. I do want to eventually again (doing what I did before). That being said, working at a bank and interacting with many different people, I sometimes am still able to use my psychology background. ;) Technically, that can be used anywhere, naturally. A lot of people think you can't do much with a psychology major, and granted it may be a bit more limited in what you can do in the specific field of psychology, but it's useful for any job/field, really.

But I digress. :)
lol... i've been seating here wondering how you can digress when the topic is basically getting to know other people?

not really suited for the Bible discussion forum since no one is discussing the Bible, but I believe like a degree in psychology, a deep understanding of the Bible and God's laws and promises can be useful in any situation ;)

for example at the bank:

you can talk to people about the proverbs of talents on your lunch break. lol

Matthew 25
[SUP]14 [/SUP]“For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. [SUP]15 [/SUP]And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. [SUP]17 [/SUP]And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. [SUP]18 [/SUP]But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. [SUP]19 [/SUP]After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]“So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ [SUP]21 [/SUP]His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ [SUP]22 [/SUP]He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ [SUP]23 [/SUP]His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
[SUP]24 [/SUP]“Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. [SUP]25 [/SUP]And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
[SUP]26 [/SUP]“But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. [SUP]27 [/SUP]So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. [SUP]28 [/SUP]Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
[SUP]29 [/SUP]‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. [SUP]30 [/SUP]And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

come to think of it the OP topic started off how to lead someone to Christ but I believe God has to convict them of their sins and bring them to godly repentance before anything else can truly be accomplished. however I think most people have concluded prayer is the best answer at this time for the question.

I've merely shared my views when I've been asked.
The following view Bruce ? Does it not matter to you that we do capitalize God ? This is where you started to lose me. It's a "respect and reverence thing" for those of us who believe. But I won't tell you what to do.

"Sorry, no, I don't capitalize god. Personal choice. Carry on using whatever spelling you like but don't tell me what to do."

Science tells us that a single missing RNA is all that differs the male and female zygotes.
correction.

the difference between a male and female zygote is an arm missing from the Y chromosome versus the X chromosome which is composed of DNA in humans not RNA. RNA isn't the genetic code used by most multicellular organisms, just a few strands of bacteria.

Well everyone is conditioned.

Why is it you think I'm conditioned by Marxists?
how do you know everyone is conditioned?
are you certain?
what's your point of reference?
what is your objective reality?
nothing can be known for certain.

so you have no way of knowing if anyone is, most of all yourself.

Well I think you're very wrong but alrighty.
to be expected. since i think you are very wrong in your beliefs.

as for how God treats people and how His children should treat others as well:

[h=3]Matthew 5:44-46[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)

[SUP]44 [/SUP]But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,[SUP][a][/SUP] [SUP]45 [/SUP]that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. [SUP]46 [/SUP]For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

most other religions and some people claiming to be Christians teach that you do unto others so that good things will happen to you and so you can go to heaven, but that's not what God teaches at all. He teaches you do good to others because it is the right thing to do and it is what God does even if the other person curses you for it. you don't do it expecting to be thanked or rewarded. its not about karma or being reborn into a better life. its about living your life as a living letter of Love from God to the world.

There was a man I talked to who use to be an ordained baptist minister to a church, until he died. According to him, three times. And each time all he saw was darkness. So he turned atheist.
When I asked him why he stopped believing, he said because his IQ is more than 50. And he was a very intelligent individual. But failed to answer some simple questions.
One being, how did men write history in advance. Prophesies that have come to pass that were written more than 1000 years ago.
And two being, how come he wasn't brain dead or a veggie after being dead for 75 min, when brain damage starts after only a few minutes without oxygen.
I find those who don't believe in God to be simple minded though they see themselves as smarter than many Christians.

My response to this whole thread: lol. Actually, that's my response to pretty much this whole site.

I just come here for comedy and casual conversation. (not that anyone cares)

I've been discussing religion on the internet for about 5 years now and i've learned that it is only good for entertainment. Trying to find answers that are convincing is utterly useless cuz they do not exist.

Anyway, the main reason i even bothered posting this is cuz i was bored. lol

I will leave you with one of my many mottos: Life is a joke so live like it doesn't matter.

There's no single trace of such "conviction" as seen in her posts. She's just here to argue and attack christians.
I actually havent seen her attack anything. If anything its mostly her defending herself against a bunch of zealots and stupid accusations. ''Oh no she doesnt believe like us! How should we handle this?" I guess insults and derogatroy posts was the answer? Yeah thats how you set an example guys God must be proud seeing your responses.

Batman007, if you want the answers you seek.
Listen to the place within you that cries out when no one is around, the ache that is never filled.
Then ask Jesus.
All we can do is bare witness to the truth, that when one in faith asks Jesus to come into their life, all is given and one sees and knows the glory of God!

For faith comes by hearing the word, and understanding comes by faith!

Hugs and God bless

This has nothing to do with Christianity. I just think you're being judgmental. I haven't studied your scripture I'm not going to quote it or tell you how you should practice your religion. I just think that's an unfortunate quality you have.

I just don't understand why you believe in the bible. There are lots of books out there, and lots that claim to be the work of god. What makes the bible special?

If you're going to be a jerk you'll be treated as such, since that's what you are (actually I don't think that's what you are, I was just making a point. I think you have rude qualities but that doesn't define you).

That's true. Maybe we should move this conversation elsewhere.

I wasn't denigrating the bible or god. I was asking a question. You can take it as such but that was not my intention.

Understand?

One of the things about the Bible is much of it can be proven historically. Nineveh,Assyria,Babylon,The Persian Empire,Cyrus of Persia,King David,Solomon and Jesus have all been shown to be factual from a historical point of view.

Perhaps if you really want to know the truth you may want to read some material from a man that was once a skeptic. (He actually tried to prove the Bible wrong) His name is Josh McDowell and he has written a number of books

??? IQ of 50 is nothing to boast about, but then the guy was probably being insulting to Christians.

I think I'll go back to reading the Bible.

  • 1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

  • 1 Corinthians 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

Uh but I don't have an ache that's never filled? I've heard that before, that if you're not a Christian you have a hole in you that only god can fill. That's not something I feel, it really isn't. And I think I'm a pretty self-aware person.

I understand it's respect for you. But you don't do things just because otherwise others would be offended. You can't go through life being careful not to step on people's toes. I don't care if you capitalize god at all, because that's your choice. I don't care what you do.
