There is this guy on the run out here in the news who killed 3 people and he is an ex cop and ex military. He's been on the run for two days now and they still don't know where he is. His story got me thinking about where one would hide or go if they were to run from the authorities.

I know none of you in here would ever break a law :), so lets say that you found yourself in posession of evidence which could bring down several powerful, high ranking individuals and you know that the cops will only hand you to them to be tortured. Where would you go or hide??

Hey...what type of evidence are we talking about here, anyways? Perhaps a photograph of numerous peoples locked in a certain someone's basement?

We should all be praying about this situation. Father, I pray that You deal with the heart of this man and turn it toward You. I pray that You stop this before anyone else dies, and be with the families of those who have been killed already.

Nope. Not true. I'm at this little tiny desk in the hotel room, and I'm facing a mirror. There is no one behind me.

Unless you are behind the one-way mirror watching me...
 
If it were possible, I'd hide in the "Terms and Conditions" of any agreement. No one ever looks in there, especially the internet ones. Just check that little "Yes I have read and agreed" box and be on your way! Nothing to see here!

On an unrelated note, zeroturbulence your signature is hilarious.

I guess I must be no one because I actually do go through the terms and conditions of agreements before agreeing. So you this case you had better hope I'm not the one looking for you!

Serious answer:
I haven't got a clue! I've been following the story that Zero mentioned in the opening post. I did try to imagine what it's like for those who are having to fear for their lives- and for the lives of their family and friends. Honestly, having a feeling that no place is safe must be a horrible feeling.
 
Rip my t-shirt in shreds, buy bongos, protest outside the nearest police HQ, and claim I hold a bunch of cards the bleeding hearts in the media would gravitate towards (bi-sexual, generally oppressed by rich white men).

This done under the assumption I would be caught eventually.

Now if I were to plan on avoiding the law after a committing a crime in say, ten years, I would simply move back to NY and begin my bid for State Senate.

Wow why didn't I think of that! Becoming a member of Congress lets you commit all sorts of crimes without ever getting caught. Even if they do get caught they just get a slap on the wrist.

I'm hopeless. I actually just looked in the mirror in front of me. I didn't see anything on my tooth, all I saw was an idiot.

And you'd be from another country, perhaps from the East...or West...or South...or, yes, from the North. Probably from the North.

And you'd keep talking incessantly about how incredible you think you look to throw the authorities off the trail, as you really need to wear the mask from the Phantom of the Opera so people who see you don't become ill.

And you'd keep people confused by saying you're a stalker, no, you're not a stalker, yes you are a stalker, you're a better stalker than anyone else, to boldly stalk like no one has ever stalked before.

And you'd attempt to start a pyramid/Ponzi scheme using the cover of a foreign confectionery unknown to the civilized world.

Not that I'm talking about anyone specific or anything. I'm just sayin'.
