You know you yanks, on the whole seem far more receptive to 'Grace' than us Brits
I spent much time on a British Christian website and only a very few embraced the principals of Grace
But then, many of them were so swamped in their ologies and isms, I guess it wasn't that surprising. Though maybe we are just a reserved lot as some think!

Can I ask you for an absolutely honest reply to a question?
How would you have felt if while you battled masturbation, and felt grieved and desperatley unhappy you were committing that act, people had of told you at that time , that unless sin had ceased God would not accept you as His. In other words, if you believed them you would have had to believe you could not be accepted by God/saved/inherit eternal life(any words you think best describes it) at that time as of the act you were committing.
You see, to me you felt bad because the Spirit had written the good and Holy laws of God on your heart and mind, so you were saved, absolutely. And this to me is the horrendous teaching that people pile on others, causing more guilt and misery than they already feel
The Spirit convicts of sin, people do not at the same time need man to tell them they are condemend, it is ridiculous/crazy IMO.
Someone wrote(not sure if I quote accurately) that the individual will be led to victory by the Spirit, it is not for other Christians, to crush the new convert with demands that can only make them feel worse than they likely already do feel
Faith and Obedience are the same thing.
Unbelief and disobedience are the same thing also.
Which is why John would say something like this...
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Whether one is yielding to the will of God is a sure sign as to whether that one truly knows God. Those who are disobedient yet profess to know God are liars. Yet God is merciful and is calling all men to a repentance of their rebellion that they may yield to God and be saved by the power of God. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation hence repent and believe.
There are many false teachers today who blur the line between salvation and obedience and imply that the two can be separated.
The Bible clearly teaches that one must depart from iniquity.
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
If an individual is "battling masturbation" then they must be told the truth that they must seek God in godly sorrow which will produce a broken repentance by which their rebellion to God will cease. God will then empower them to live in victory over that sin.
To tell that person to "not worry" but just "trust in Jesus" WHILE THEY STILL ENGAGE IN SIN is to lead them into a false assurance that true repentance is not necessary. God will not empower an individual who is unwilling. The willingness to follow God is a direct result of the working of God in an individual wrought through a broken godly sorrow and repentance.
No repentance = No salvation.

The loneliness that each person has is like a whole in the heart, something is missing and people go out and search and search and search, we go to this denomination and that, and that, sometimes we stay at one, and all this is about feeling wanted by others. Usually when we donot feel wanted we move on to the next or are mad at other peoples thoughts that they express, thinking they are trying to do this or that to us, it runs against our thoughts and we are just flesh reacting as flesh does, this whole in the heart needs filled period and we all go to extemes to get it filled.

With belief true belief comes repentance, usually with one trying to work out their own salvation staying in quilt and a lot of times giving up which for me I am thankful that i never did, so whoever is going through what I did whether it be masturbation or drinking or anger or whatever is not of LOVE God's type 1 Cor 13 PLEASE GOD DOES LOVE YOU, receive this and you aon't ever be worried again, you will be too busy being in love. And in this the entire law is fullfilled LOVE!!!!! I can't see anything you have wrItten that I would disagree with. When you say the masturbation got worse when you were convicted by the church you went to(I imagine the teaching they gave you is what you measn, focus on the sin, strive/determine to defeat it etc) I would say that EXACTLY mirrors what Paul spoke of in Rom7:7-11. If we look at the sin(which in effect has to be the law) and strive to defeat it, we simply become worse sinners.
Then you say it was allYOU/I and that had to stop. Absolutely. And you had to ,look away from, yourself(trying to stop) and start living the new life(following after the Spirit) and that way the sin decreased. But when your conscience crippled you and you focused on the sin, the sin got worse
Have I got the above right? Because I would say that is pure truth of victory in the Christian life
The Spirit convicts of sin that it is all taken care of at the cross of Christ and there is new life ot be found there if you will agree with God and die in the Spirit of your mind to sin there and then believe God the Father to raise you back to life a new life in trusting him to live through you and the love gets shed abroad in your heart where there is no conscience of sin. The world through its convicting people of sin telling them Goves them then saying you must behave is the devils trap to keep people working for their salvation with out them seeing the trick that he placed on all the world. The mystery God through one act of his Son took it all away in order to give you life it is a free gift and one's reaction of appreciation shows through with out work, this is true Faith yet has work but it is not our work it is God's
I agree with the above, as I am guessing you are saying when their is no conscience of sin, this is for guilt unto death, we are free as Christ died for us, free to follow after the Spirit and not focus on the sin, through a conscience that beats up on us and makes us want to try in our own strength to succed or give up. But we still feel bad when we let our heavenly father down, err because we love him and want to please him. If my deductions are wrong please let me know

The only one who can fill our lonely/searching hearts is God, absolutely, but so often we look to man to do it. So as you say, go to one church, then move on to another etc rather than focus on God first and rely on him to take away that loneliness by Christ in us.

What is being repented?
What I mean is, what is any one person repenting?
Also, to whom are we repenting?
Cobus exactly this is what God has done for all that believe in him, and what God needs is for us that still have a conscience of sin need to see that God has already taken all sin away for them and gave this to them the day they first believed even if continued to sin for he lives in them teaching them right from wrong, I know because Father never left me and never forsook me as I was caught in my old sinful nature, not realizing at the time God already gave me the new nature, Father stayed with me loving me while I was still sinning, and I am not saying that I will never sin again I do not know the future, I can't turn one hair of my head black or white therefore I will stay in the present trusting God, caring for me, living in me because he put his new nature in me The first day of belief and then Father through the Holy Ghost worked it out in me until I saw and see what you have said, Father did this in me by FAith in him trusting him and now daily I walk in trust, knowing he loves me having my conscience purged from sin, not even knowing what sin is or was, For today I am too busy trusting. But understand this that on the first day of belief God comes to live in the that one that believes that desires to know him and allows free choice for all things are permissable in him but not all things are beneficial. This is where we grow in grace and through experience we learn what is beneficial and what is not, by free choice and not being under law we make the right choices growing in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ 1 John 3:3

NOWHERE in the bible is there a verse that says God looks at us THROUGH Jesus... that is teachings of SATAN! It is like we are LOCKED in sin and God cannot do anything about it. It is like saying God is too weak to save us from sin.
You are wrong my friend.... Abiut the sin forgiving thing.... God only forgive a sin ONCE.... AFTER you died it off. God is not like us to learn how to forgive.... HE KNOWS HOW! And God knows when you will NEVER commit a particular sin again... Because HE is the ONE that gives you victory, and ruling over that sin....

It is important to keep the Day of Atonement to ask for forgiveness of your sin once a year,fasting and praying. forgiveness is a 4 step process, remorse, confession, restitution and change
