Thank you RickyZ but it doesn't make sense to me. Sacrifices were barbaric back then and not practiced in the world today....it was wrong then and it's wrong now. I have a hard time believing our wonderful God had anything to do with them.

Sorry....I'm still trying to figure it out.
Thanks!

Thank you for trying to explain kenisyes and I'm sorry about your wife. I think I may have to research a little more because I'm not one of those people that can just believe something because it is stated in a book, even if the book is supposedly the word of God.
I know they can't all be answered but the bible is a little misleading when it comes to that.

Yes I think you can have love in you without Jesus. For me the question is am I expressing it like I should....
Thank you, and my condolences on your husband's going home.

Researching something from cultures you are unfamiliar with can be a long process. I have studied the languages and find that the whole mindset was different. That's part of why the Bible seems to be overemphasizing healing. It's just really hard to read the whole thing.

Jesus says if you really have the Father, you came through Him. Maybe the words are just confusing you, and you know Him, but not the way someone or other has explained Him. If you know Him as He is, that is all the better. That you are concerned to be expressing love right, suggests you know there is a right way, and have an inner feeling what that is. That tends to confirm you really know Jesus at some level.

kenisyes,

Thank you so much. It means so much to me that you feel I know Jesus at some level. I'll take that any time of the day! I want so much to be a good person and live a life that would please God. Thank you.

Transformer, Jesus heals. Perhaps he didn't heal your husband; but consider that He has bigger plans. I'm very sorry that your husband died. While I would never wish to make light of any death, have you considered that perhaps God was using that time to draw you to Him? God does not always heal, or answer our prayers with the answers we'd like to receive. Prayer is about relationship, but also surrender. In prayer we ask for Gods hand in a situation, but we surrender to His answer for us. His answer is not always what we want.
Keep talking to Jesus. His word is true.

Jordache, I appreciate your post and I think maybe God does heal in rare instances. I think it is rare though.... Too many people pray for healing and it just doesn't happen. My heart hurts for any parent having to watch their child suffer and die. There are good people praying for their babies at this very moment and healing does not happen.

What I can say about praying is it helped me during that dark time. It gave me hope and I felt like I was doing something to help my husband but in the end there was no healing. I reached out to Jesus during the worst time in my life and I felt abandoned. I'm still trying to cope so excuse me if I come off as being angry but I guess I am.

Maybe you are right and God has bigger plans, or maybe I'm being punished, or maybe my husband had the love thing conquered and needed to move on to a higher realm. He was a picture of love.... My mind has been flooded with trying to find reasons why it happened.

As far as drawing me closer to Him, well I don't feel closer now but maybe I'm getting there ......I have been spending more time reading the bible.

Thanks.....cute picture of you and your dog.

TRANSFORMER26;9075 Thank you for your response. You sound like a wonderful person. I really appreciate you trying to help and having such faith and strong beliefs. I read and have been told Christians believe Jesus was God in the flesh and I was told you need to believe this in order to be a Christian. I'm just not sure about all of that. I think God is in all of us. [[[ you are absolutely correct! God has already chosen all of us said:
]] you are correct!!!

Please keep in mind I'm bible stupid

[[[ and there are lots of us who are bible smart and still act stupid, so again you fit right in !!]]]

so to speak and I still need to read more....I do believe Jesus existed and he was exceptional but I'm having a hard time understanding the sacrifice

[[[you know, ask God to help you understand , he will in HIS time]]]

We are all God's children and I would think any of his children being harmed would be hard for him (many people were awful back then...they tortured and harmed and crucified other good people for ridiculous reasons) I hope this doesn't offend you or anyone else because it surely isn't my intention to do so but I don't believe everything in the bible.

[[[God already knows this and is more concerned about you coming to Him directly one on one :) he already knows everything about you , and im
Sure angels are danving and singing in heaven right now because you are
Coming to know Him.. I guarantee it]]]

This makes some Christians think I'm terrible and doomed to hell.
[[[God says differently and not to focus on what they are saying , focus on what He wants to tell you ..he has a whole lot to tell you about who you really are, and its all good]]]

I just have trouble trying to figure out fact from fiction
[[[ the truth is we either believe god or man... Man hasnt worked a whole lot so God says give me a try , i never change and i am always the same]]]

with the bible since people didn't know how to write or go about compiling information way back then and relied on information being passed on by word of mouth. Many years passed before anything was written for the bible and I question the accuracy. I don't question the overall message which I think is love.

[[[ each person in the bible gave an account of their" individual" nownjere me here "individual" relarionship as theu came deciding to know God, no two relationships are alike , this is why it was so confusing for
Me to inderstand ... his relationship with you is going to be different from mine , not because god is different , but because you and i have come back to him from different
Places]]]

I think Jesus tried to teach people what is truly important and that is love.

[[[your words right above hits the nail
On the head, and are the very
Nails he allowed to be hit on both of his wrists and feet for us all.. He did it because he Loved us even when we did not love Him.. Like yiu did with your husband ..only jesus continued to love us when we did not love him... I
Bet on a certain level you might even possibly relate to that kind of love.. .you already know the greatest and "most important" commandment in the bible, wich again reveals
What is already
Present in you ]]]
Him :)

People were so terrible to each other back then and God sent Jesus to show people love and compassion.
[[[ so, Let me ask you this, since God made us from His image and everything of him he already put in us, is it possible you know this truth and identify with this truth , because it is true? ... Just so you know, you are 100% right]]]

I know we are all sinners and we need to be forgiven and I do ask God for forgiveness when I pray. I'm just having a hard time with the sacrifice, trinity and all of that.
[[[sacrifice is love... love is being shown mercy and not getting what we deserve, jesus paid the price so we never do.. God is so full of love for us that he gives us more than we do deserve , and that is , we are all still standing"

Trinity- god being all that He is , decided to get up off His heavenly throne and come to us in the image of a man.. We would not be able to handle god in all his glory otherwise... Our minds not being familiar with him would not recognize Him.. We didnt even recognize Him as a man so that would verify we would not recognize him in his natural state.... So we now have
God our heavenly father
God who came in the image of a man
And the third is His Holy Spirit...
His teachings that remind us of who He is.. When he came to us as a man]]]

You are right in track ... If you would like to correspond i will be happy to walk along side you as a friend :)
Email me anytime..

I will keep reading and see what happens.

Thank you so much!
God Bess you

Hugs Transformer... I know it's hard and I completely understand the confusion, the questions, all those wonderings and inadequacies. I can tell you, transformer, that God healed me. He also healed my dad. I began running last summer and I've had a bad knee for years. It was to a point that I couldn't even walk. I have no cartilage. I asked some people to pray for me in October and it hasn't hurt since. I ran my first 5k on Thanksgivng and I'm still running with no knee pain. My dad was diagnosed with cancer several yrs ago. When the opened him up they sewed him back up in fewer than 5 minutes. They discovered he had stage 4 cirrhosis. Now he was a pretty messed up guy, but the one thing he didn't do was drink. They decided against all opinions to do a liver transplant and remove the cancer at the same time. He moved to LA where I am for 6 months and ended up living with my friends, one of the pastors at my church. My dad was not a Christian, but my whole church was praying for him. One week before he was called in, he went into the ER with internal bleeding. They transfused 6 pints! But he made it to the transplant. When they opened him up they removed his liver and saw no cancer. It was gone. I have another friend who was healed of cancer. But my mother in law died at 42 of breast cancer. I think more prayers went for her than anyone, but God did not heal her how we wanted to her to be healed. Instead her death drew her family to Him. Her death deepened her own children's dependence on Him. Another friend went to one week before her due date knowing that she would have a baby with severe heart damage. The baby died and she delivered a full term still born baby. This showed her mmore of Gods character. She dig into Him because in these times its all you can do.
I do not begrudge you any of your feelings, including your anger. You have every right to be angry and Gid is big enough to handle it. I do not believe you are being punished. I believe that Go is drawing you, and He lies you so much He will draw you through any means. Keep reading your bible. Keep praying. Get angry with God if need be. Be honest with him. You cannot hide anything from Him and he will change you from the inside out.
Transformer,
Reading the bible is great. It says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The word used for "word" there is a great word which is closer to a personal revelatory word. So before you read, pray that The Lord speak to your through His word. The word used their literally means "an utterance". God will speak to those who ask and listen. It may be words you are reading. It may be an impression. It may be a realization. It could come in many forms, but it will never go against what the bible says. But we need the utterance of God in our life, not just the written word. We need His voice to bring those written words to life. Also, attemp silence. It's very hard. 1 minute can feel like an eternity. But try it. Set an alarm. Start your alarm and simply ask God "Where are you?" Or "What are you doing with me?" Or "Show me where you are." Then sit in silence. God will speak to you in the silence.

If we could work toward saying how you know Him already, it would be a good step toward getting to know Him better. Maybe even well enough to ask Him about this healing and prayer thing you are wondering?

Hi everyone,

It's late and I can't sleep as ususal.....I'm trying to get closer to God through Jesus but I'm having a hard time understanding and believing the words in the bible. My life has been tragically altered and I guess I'm trying to figure out how to cope.... How does one become a Christian?

Thank you to all who respond.
The only requirement to enter the kingdom is through repentance and faith porven by deeds!

Godly Sorrow

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. 2Cor10:11

Before anything about God or the Bible can make Sense to your Mind or the Words of Scripture can come ALIVE to your Soul, you Must first experience this godly sorrow for sin that leads to Real Salvation. The Bible says that the Word of God is LIVING and POWERFUL, Sharper than any two edged Sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart! Heb4:12.

This is so because the Word of God is the LOGOS of God. IT IS GOD! (John1:1) ‘In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God and the WORD was God!’ That’s why it can Pierce and Penetrate the Soul and Spirit of man. And there is No Creature HIDDEN from His Sight, but all things are naked and open to the Eyes of Him to whom we MUST GIVE Account! Heb4:13. There are no Secrets with God.

But before you can come into Contact with the LOGOS of God you must first be CLEARED of your wrong doing in Repentance. This requires ‘godly sorrow’ for sin that will produce the repentance that leads to the Salvation. Today the Church / Pastors / Teachers know NOTHING of this godly sorrow and or how to get someone truly saved. To them getting saved is merely a ‘Confession’ that you are sinful, then ‘Believing’ or Trusting that Jesus has forgiven your sins and Saved you.

Nothing Changes inside. The motives remain the same. The Passions and Desires are intact. You may now attend Church and take part in the fellowship. But inwardly you are still the SAME person as before. If you were the class clown, joke teller everyone liked to be around, you remain so. If you cherish some form of entertainment or sport you automatically gravitate toward those kind of activities and other people who love them. Some of you try to modify your behavior by Christian standards and cut down on the trash talk and make an attempt to be nicer in your relationships with others. But MOST just slip into a religious routine that fits their expectations and become satisfied with the form and exist in an environment where they are NEVER exposed to the Truth.

What is Godly Sorrow? How Does a Person get past merely making an apology to God and Really Getting CLEAR of their Wrong Doings? First Understand that a ‘Godly Sorrow’ Must originate from:
HONEST AND SINCERE Motives! (a good and noble heart! Lk8:15)

If Someone Truly is experiencing Godly Sorrow for sin, after being exposed to the Powerful Word of God, wouldn’t it Stand to Reason that they would make an honest and Sincere EFFORT to CLEAR themselves of their wrong doings? ‘Not to be Regretted’….the Scripture Says. If a person was Seeking forgiveness of a wronged Spouse in a case of adultery, would they Not FIRST STOP the adulterous relationship BEFORE they sought pardon? Otherwise how could anyone believe that they sincerely regretted what they had done?

It is NO DIFFERENT with God! He Requires that you come to Him in similar manner. That is what happens in Repentance, a CLEARING. In ALL THINGS you PROVED Yourself to be CLEAR (PURE!) of your wrong doing! (2Cor7:10-11)

Godliness is Purity, Honesty, Decency, genuineness, earnestness! So Godly Sorrow is the SAME! Someone who has experienced it is NOT going to Repeat a few words and consider himself Saved. This is something that Cannot be faked! That’s why people Cried out ‘What Must I do to be Saved!?’ when they were Cut to the heart by the Word of God. And that’s why this Repentance is Called a ‘Time of Refreshing’ (Acts3:19) Because the SIN HAD STOPPED!!!! The refreshment is the PURITY of heart that results from the Clearing! It is a Radical and Dynamic Experience and a Transformation of the Soul from Darkness to Light, from the Power of Satan to God! (Acts26:18)

Your Sin is a Crime against God, a CHOICE you willingly made. You were NOT Born a Sinner, but became one when you sinned! You are Fully Responsible to God to Stop Sinning and Seek His Mercy or endure His Wrath at the Judgment. (Rom2:4-8) Your sin must be Purged by the Blood of Christ BEFORE you can be Reconciled to God. That happens in Repentance, where the sin stops and the heart is made pure. standingthegap.org

A Call to Repentance
Joel,2-12 “Now, therefore,” says the LORD,
“Turn to Me with all your heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
13 So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the LORD your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm.
14 Who knows if He will turn and relent,
And leave a blessing behind Him—
Here is more strong proof what the lord requires of His creation to be reconciled to Himself, it’s very simple but made so complicated by the heaps and heaps of pastors and ministries who have the nerve to say mankind does NOT have to repent to be saved.
They come with a simple plan that was concocted by many reformed preachers and bible scholars, making the way to the cross more of a simple confession you are a sinner, then accepting the great substitution Jesus miraculously made for them, but they fail to give any proof that the word of God let alone the King of Kings taught this non sense!
Many will fight with all they have to preserve their man made doctrines including original sin, which then gives them many excuses to ignore the powerful verse above as well as many more strong warnings to repent, turn, come broken in heart before the mercy seat, and hope and pray God will grant pardon!
Now if this was being preached in the church system today, and well understood by the saved in sin defenders, then the mess Christianity is in today would not be so, instead, the word of God would become real, and powerful, converting the lost soul, once in love with sin, rebellion and the world, now cleansed and purged of all filthiness, and wickedness, ready to receive the implanted word of God!
But today these verses are totally ignored, and replaced with a sin message, undermined by many, many, reformed errors, where simple repentance is lost in a sea of original sin, imputation, substitution, OSAS etc, producing a church that was called poor, blind and naked by Jesus Himself!
2 Corinthians 6;17 The.refore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”[d]
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the LORD Almighty.”[e]
Act 26:20 But to those first in Damascus, and Jerusalem, and to all the country of Judea, and to the nations, I made known the command to repent and to turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.
Tommy 1-23-13
PS. We must come to Jesus on His terms, not mans, I know many are taught the opposite today, they either were indoctrinated into these teachings at an early age, and refuse to even search the scriptures, search what the early church taught, or dig deep to see just how far off the mark many liberal translations of the Bible are.
When the reformation came about, around the year 1500, many denominations were formed that took these errors and built on them, leading to what we have today! Many will profess anything different from what their beloved denominations teach is heresy, and a lie, especially those who cling to Calvinism, or any form of it.
This I understand, and accept, as God predicted this would happen, when the few remnant come with the truth. But it’s a bitter pill to swallow, when you see so many sincere people, young and old, so angry and upset when the truth is presented to them, and they attack the messenger.
To me this shows just how far off the mark they are in their minds, they love the lie, refuse to hear anything else except the born sinner, Jesus sub plan, made so famous by the likes of Billy Graham, Ed Young, and many more mega preachers, selling a gospel that is totally backwards from what the early church and Christ taught.
Are we full of pride and arrogant to say these things? Are we evil, uncaring, and full of hate when we confront the wall of deception accepted as truth today?
I guess I can also say this about the many who cling to the saved IN sin message, repeat after me crowd, who has every excuse why they can sin with impunity, then just confess, and then continue as a vile sinner in heart, where purity and separation is a pipe dream never to be accomplished in this life, even though the whole council of God is against them.
Dig deep as commanded, have some confidence in the Lord to lead you into truth, not some ministry or church pastor you support, who clings to these errors for whatever reason.
The gospel according to godliness is a TO DO gospel, which can only be received and understood in its form and context when the sinner wakes up and does this:
James 1-21-22;
21 So get rid of all uncleanness(repent) and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].!
1, You repent first and foremost, see 2 Corinthians 7-10-11.
2, Then if the repentance is real, and from the heart, godly sorrow as described in 2 Corinthians, you then can receive the implanted word of God, and understand it as written by God.
3, Now you become a passionate doer of the word, obeying God from your heart, cleansed and purified, broken and willing to learn and grow more, and more in His great truth.

Just make the descision to want to know God, there will be a fight though as you are apparently are already in, if you stand firm in wanting to know God no matter what comes down the pike against you you will know him for God will reveal himself to you and it will be through his son. I do not want to dress anything up, it is a warfare and the devils ofthis world do not wantanyone crossing over the picket line to freedom in Christ, where that one that has past over the line can praise God when they are down, when they are hospitalized, when they are homeless, when they are divorced, when they know as Paul said nothing absolutely nothing can seperate him from the love of God. Stand firm and read the word to know him and the Holy Ghost will reveal truth to you that will set you free. Beleif is the very key that opens the doorway to God

Powemm,

About the trinity....Is Jesus and God both in heaven as separate spirits or is it just God? Maybe this is a stupid question but if Jesus was God, when Jesus went back to heaven did he become one and merge with God as one spirit? Just trying to understand.

Thanks so much for your help.

Jordache,

It's strange how some people are healed through prayers and some are not. That's why I have a hard time accepting the power of prayer. Are some people better than others, more deserving, loved more by God? I don't want to believe that. I believe it helps the person doing the praying more than the person being prayed for. It gives them hope, something to hold onto.

I'm glad you and your loved ones were healed. I've had loved ones in the past I prayed for and they were healed but now I'm thinking it was not prayers that healed them, it was medical treatment and maybe just luck. I do think God heals but llike I said I think it is rare. I think it's wonderful you believe in His healing so I don't want to sound like I'm trying to say He didn't intervene for you and your dad...maybe He did.

I'm just so hurt by my husband's death.. It hurts me more when I think maybe God could have healed him and chose not to. I was on my hands and knees begging for God to heal him every day. I loved my husband so much, still do.

I'm a little angy with God but I'll get over it. I've always felt God with me so I don't have trouble believing in God. I'm just trying to believe in Jesus and that Jesus was God in the flesh. I guess I need to keep reading....

Thanks!

Tommy4Christ,

I know we all sin and God knows it too. I'm sure He doesn't expect us to be as pure as Him. I think we should ask for his forgiveness but not beat ourselves up over it. I guess it depends on what the sin is. Some people say they are all the same, sins. I don't think so....

homwardbound,

I'm trying to know God better. I miss my husband and my life is not turning out the way I want. It's hard for me to see evil people roaming the world without a care in the world, breathing, laughing and enjoying themselves and my wonderful husband is gone. He is with God but I want him with me.

It's so unfair and I don't think anyone has a good explanation. My faith has really been shaken but I'm still reading the bible and trying to accept it.....

Transformers, I absolutely agree its strange how some are healed and others are not. I've known many who are not. I do not understand it, and its very confusing. But I do know that I have a God who is always working my and the ultimate good of all those around me. I do not understand why God allows something's. I don't completely understand why I was raised in my family and no one ever took me from it. I don't understand why despite all that my father did to me, I was the only person able to offer him hope and stay with him during his last hours. I don't understand why my cousin died when he was 6, or why I lost my own two boys. Some things just don't make sense. What I do know is that God is good, and each day He reveals more about how He is using these circumstances (often just a result of the world I live in) to teach me, grow me, deepen me, change me, and really show me his character. I say this with a true heart, not because I'm a Christian and I'm supposed to believe God will use my life. He has and He is, and I experience it everyday. Sometimes His goodness is hard to see and believe. Sometimes we wonder if His goodness is just for those people out there. But the truth is: His goodness is for all of us NOW. God heals miraculously and through medical professionals. God goes each of the intelligence we have. He made our bodies with a particular function. He also enables us to understand His creation. It's in his image that we are able to have function in any capacity. We are made in his image and thus a doctors ability to heal through medicine and science is really just an extension of Gods use of man to heal. We tend not to associate God and science, but the two are inseparable.
Its ok to be angry with God. It's ok to be human and express yourself humanly. It's ok to be angry because God allowed your husband to die and didn't use your prayers the way you wished. Use the anger to find God. He's a big God; He can take it. You know He'll do. He'll respond like a loving father. He won't curse your for your anger. He's will listen with a broken heart at the pain you feel. He will sit with you and let you pour your heart out over and over. And then at the right time, He will grab you, hold you, and cry with you. He will tell you "I'm sorry it hurts. I'm sorry it seems so unfair. My plan for you is still good. I am using this." His will have an answer is you listen. It may not be what you wish, but always remember that His plans for you are good. It seems like hell. It seems like torture. Nothing makes sense. But the truth is God is good and at some point you WILL see His goodness in this.
Reading the bible is a good practice, but I encourage you to really pray that God speak to you. His revelation in whatever way he brings it will be what convinces you. Simply reading stories about Jesus will likely do very little to convince you of His Godhood. Pray for divine revelation and then read... Expect that it may not be the particular words that convince you, but the God behind those words that does the convincing. God is alive. His spirit is alive. He reveals himself anew to those who seek Him wholeheartedly.
And lastly, please do not think I take your situation lightly. I know that these are difficult circumstances indeed. They are very painful. They are legitimately difficult, confusing, conflicting, and heart-wrenching. If I were in a room with you, I'd probably just give you a hug and be speechless for a while.

Asking questions and admitting you don't know/ understand everything makes you heaps smarter than people of this world who think they have all the answers :)

The whole concept of sin, sacrifice and Jesus dying for our sins is difficult to understand, maybe even more so in our society. I myself live in a country where death penalty is seen as barbaric, while many in the US see it as a just punishment. It is cultural. In the same way, even though much of what happened in the bible is terrible, it was seen as a natural thing to crucify the worst criminals back then. The difference with Jesus is that his charge was claiming to be God (set forth by his own people), and that the judge did not find him guilty. (yet he left Jesus to the masses and let them do what they wanted.).

kenisyes, I'm trying to know Him better but I feel lost and confused. I'll keep reading the bible and see if it helps.

I find that reading without doing something is a hard way to sort things out. That's true in any field, not just Scripture. Normally, the lost and confused feeling is an invitation to find yourself in Him. That might really help your understanding about healing, too. Are you praying? Do you listen when you pray? Is there anything He is asking you to do? Take a risk and try it.
