Hmmm, as what I have learned from my Sunday school days, Satan (an angel) existed already before the creation. I just forgot where in the Scriptures we can read that. :)

satan is a created being.....there isn't a lot of scripture about angels but it's generally accepted that they were created before man

Satan was named Lucifer in heaven. He was the head angel, and also head of the music. He existed before the creation of time, earth and the universe. But when he rebelled God had already started with the earth and so cast him (and his followers) to earth.
So we have no idea 'how long' Satan has been around because he existed from God created time. But we know he existed before the creation of time and earth.

Since the Bible says that God “created all things,” some have concluded that God must have created the Devil. (Ephesians 3:9; Revelation 4:11) The Bible clearly shows that he did not. Jehovah created the person who became the Devil.

Talking about God the Bible says Perfect is his activity, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; righteous and upright is he.” (Deuteronomy 32:3-5) This scripture shows that God only creates perfect things, so to say that God could create the sinful Satan is false according to the Bible.

From that statement at Deut 32:3-5, we can conclude that Satan had at one time been perfect and righteous, namely, one of God’s angelic sons, an Angel. At John 8:44, Jesus said that the Devil “did not stand fast in the truth,” implying that Satan had at one time been truthful and guiltless.

We can also see Satan at times walked among and with the Angels before God.

(Job 1:6) “…Now it came to be the day when the sons of the [true] God [the Angels] entered to take their station before Jehovah, and even Satan proceeded to enter right among them…”

So Satan at one time was an Angel that forsook his position and thus came to be known as the Devil. This has also happened to other Angels too.

(Jude 6) "...And the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgment of the great day..." These Angels came to be known as Demons, with Satan the ruler of the Demons

(Matthew 9:34) "...But the Pharisees began to say: “It is by the ruler of the demons that he expels the demons...”

We can see also that Satan has in his control Angels, of course these angels under his control are known to use by the title Demons, however they can still be rightly called Angels.

(Revelation 12:9) "...So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him..."

Hope I've helped.

The creation of Satan (adversary) was a side effect of the creation of man. Adam was created as the antithesis of God and Adam and Eve were naked so the "serpent" was out there. Adam was the tree of knowledge and Eve was the tree of life. "eve" means "living" and women bear children. Milk is the fruit of the tree of life. Adam went to heaven when he died and his name was changed to Satan, he was the son of God. Job 1:6

I am not a Filipino Christian but the post above me is not true. First, I agree that angels were created before men. God created the angels and Satan was an angel of light but then rebelled against God and was cast out. Adam and Eve were created by God and did not recognize they were naked until ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The serpent would be disguise that Satan used or that he possessed a snake, either way. Adam if he restored the relationship with God probably went to heaven but his name was not changed to Satan.

As willsfollowGod said the post above him is wrong, first of all to claim Adam went to Heaven after his death is not found anywhere in the Bible and an assumption, the Bible clearly states that (Genesis 3:19) "...In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return...

So Adam returned to the Dust after his Death and not to Heaven, we need to remember that just like Satan, Adam was perfect when God made him, when a perfect being sins there is no basis for repentance, for you are perfect, and simply should not of sinned. Satan an Ex-perfect creature cannot ask for repentance, the same goes for Adam, thats why only we as imperfect creatures can ask for forgiveness through Jesus perfect Human life.

Adam went to heaven when he died and his name was changed to Satan, he was the son of God. Job 1:6
Even though Adam was "a Son of God" in the sense that his creator was Jehovah God (Luke3:38) is in not one of the Sons of God talked about in Job 1:6, these Sons of God are Angels, which are also spoken about in Job 38:7, for him to also claim that Adam is both the Son of God and Satan in Job 1:6 is contradicting and unbiblical.

(Job 38:7 NWT) "...When the morning stars joyfully cried out together, And all the sons of God began shouting in applause..."

(Job 38:7 NIV) "...while the morning stars sang together and all the
angels shouted for joy..."

This is one of the discriptions of the devil in the book of Ezekiel. "Thus says the Lord GOD, "You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 "You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz, and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx, and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise, and the emerald; And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, Was in you. On the day that you were created They were prepared. 14 "You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 "You were blameless in your ways From the day you were created, Until unrighteousness was found in you. 16 "By the abundance of your trade You were internally filled with violence, And you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane From the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the stones of fire. 17 "Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I put you before kings, That they may see you." (Ezekiel 28:12-17)

Susan, that is complete and utter crap.
People, don't listen to this rubbish. There is nothing biblically-sound about the above quote.

LOL wat?

I'm curious as to how you came to that conclusion based on Job 1:6. It says nothing about Adam, Eve, the tree of life, or anything close to what you just said.

Susan seems to be a very 'creative' person. I just hope she doesn't go and write a book like the Book of Mormon. Although, this seems to be even crazier than that!

Job 1:6 says One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them.
this verse does not say Adam's name was changed to Satan. (pls give accurate info when u cite verses from the Bible)

Jangel, I don't understand your last bit. This is an English forum.

I was thinking nobody would care really if I use our dialect since the OP asked a couple of days already, and I was actually waiting for someone who would explain it well and give Bible references but there is no one, my apologies for that.

I only said 3rd heaven is God's dwelling place, including angels and pointing google for reference cuz I can't remember the supporting verses. :) That was it. :D

I'm not sure how the age of the post suggests that you can reply in a language other than English (in this forum). I don't have anything against people speaking other languages but not everyone here understands Fliipino (I certainly don't). Thanks for sharing your understanding. God Bless.

this is very false.
