Hi all,

My father (65) has an inflammated thyroid. We've gone to various specialists but no one has a conclusive statement. The PET CT Scan suggested it's cancerous, but the biopsy stated negative. Still anxious with what really is happening, now the swell has gone bigger. Finally we decided to undergo a mass removal surgery early next week because he can hardly swallow his food now.

We've been praying (my parents are both believers), but still struggling to cope with everything.

My dad has been highly anxious. His face is paler each day, body soring, and he hates his feeling of helplessness (he was an upbeat, active gentleman). Meanwhile, mom is overwhelmed with dad's increased need for attention and his change into a child-like behavior, as well as still teaching in her university. The juggle has started to hit its limit. She has changed into a very easily irritated lady.

Me, I must mediate between them to avoid unnecessary conflicts between the two. But I also have my piles of work that has been abandoned and cried for my attention too or else my business can collapse at anytime. I have been sleep deprived to catch everything up but seems nothing is done. Not the work, not my dad, not my mom, not the tension between them, not the chores...

I know God will never give us trials more than our capability, but we are all overwhelmed. I just feel like everything falls apart and it will fall not only upon me but especially upon other people: my dad, my mom, my business partner, the people working in my business...

I will super appreciate any prayer for us, not only about a conclusive diagnosis on my dad's condition (by faith I'm still hopeful it is something less serious than cancer, although doctors said only 5% chance of not being cancerous), but also for God to give us strength to persevere and a peaceful heart to be grateful at all times.

Many Thanks in Advance. God bless.

Keep up the faith, God is in control :) Will remember to uphold your family (including your dad's illness) in prayer.

Thank you, Sanglina. It's so uplifting to hear from you. God bless.

Our very present Father, please strengthen "caw252" and her mum in this difficult time. It is a lot to juggle, but with YOU all things are possible. I pray the You Word will be a Light unto their path and a lamp unto their feet. I pray that in the midst of her dad's distress, he will look to You and find comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding there. You Lord give the doctors the wisdom to zero in on exactly what the problem is and You be his ultimate healer through which ever avenue Your sovereign will leads. I pray that You will look after her business and guide as to when she should emphasize focus on it as to not neglect either parties. Only You are wise Lord. May it be in Your name, JESUS!!!. Amen

First, can I just clarify? God will and often does give/allow trials that we cannot handle. The context of that verse shows what he's really talking about. In context, God doesn't give us more than we can handle IF we handle it in his strength.
My father was very I'll for a while and it took a long time to get a diagnosis. He had lost 100lbs in addition to all the other symptoms and he was diagnosed with stage 4 bile duct cancer. The surprise came when they decided to remove the masses and they found a stage 4 cirrhotic liver. He then went on a transplant list and by Gods grace, against hospital rules, they accepted him. He got a liver and liver and during the transplant they found no cancer. He was not a Christian, but The Lord had healed him during the 6 months he lived with my friends, strangers to him, while awaiting his transplant. Two an half yrs later after gaining 100lbs back, his cancer returned. Over 6 months he lost the 100lbs again and died in June.

The Lord wants to speak to you in this. This is a part of his plan. It's beyond difficult, but with his help you are more than a conqueror and He will be glorified.

I claim Mark 4, verse 22 that all things hidden will be brought to light, nothing done in secret will be kept in the dark. I have prayed this prayer many times , and though this verse is more about sin nature in context, it also works in finding what is hidden. I pray that God will strengthen you, your mom, and of course your dad through this. Our God is the master physician, and through Him, all things are possible to those who believe. Have faith sister in Christ. Pray and thatnk God as though the sickness has been healed already, and as though the work load has been lifted. Without faith, miracles cannot happen. I am praying in agreement for you all, and pray for Gods miracle working power to be loosed on all these issues, for His strength and power to be shown. To God be the glory.

Hugs, thyroid issues can be difficult, it effects everything in ones body, even moods.
My heart and prayers are with you, your mom and dad, and all your family in Jesus's name.

God bless

Praying for God's shalom peace upon this situation- healing wholeness, completeness. Thank You Jesus, You paid the price for peace- Isaiah 53:5, so I pray shalom would abound to you all. Holy Spirit I thank that You are there, and I pray You would minister healing and grace. And Father I pray you would release more angels to minister in to this situation, thank You in Jesus name amen

Dear Lord, thank you for all brothers and sisters you sent to strengthen us. Please bless them all as You unveil what really is behind everything. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

As of now, some helps came with the chores and the business. My mom is enlightened with the presence of her baby granddaughter (my sister finally came down from overseas, bringing the bundle of joy with her). My dad is somehow stronger in His spirit, He looks fitter today. I'm now letting it go and letting it God on my business. I'm sure He has no ill plan.

Thank you all. Everyone's prayer and words are very encouraging. God bless you all abundantly as you have blessed me and my family.

Praise be to God in the highest. For He never fails, He never leaves or forsakes us. Glory to His name.

Praying for you and your family...continued strength and peace in this trying time. God is good all the time. May His peace and comfort be with you! Praying also for Him to lead the doctors and nurses to know how to make your Dad completely well :).

My dad will undergo the surgery in less than 4 hours now. Somehow God has poured peace to us all (dad looks okay, don't know about the inside though :)). Praying for the doctors, nurses, admins and everyone involved in the procedure to be in their best condition to take part in the surgery, and that God will lead the whole thing from the beginning till the end of the surgery, and help my dad's fitness to recuperate soon.

Please also pray for my mom's, sister's, and my fitness too. Mine has deteriorated (I'm starting to catch cold), but praise God I just started to catch cold only after my sister came down. To God be the glory. I'm sure He's with us.

Praise be to God in the highest. For He never fails, He never leaves or forsakes us. Glory to His name.
AMEN!

Your dad, you and all your family remain in my prayers in Jesus's name with praise and thankgiving.
For all that is the healing love of God Our Father is being poured out upon your dad and family in Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh.

Hugs and God bless

Hi all,

Thank God the surgery went well. Apparently the Doctor found out the problem was not in the thyroid but at the lymph nodes close to the thyroid. So the Doctor only did a biopsy on the affected lymph node and the "big" surgery of removing the mass shrunk into just a regular biopsy surgery. Dad has awaken and relieved that, "I'm still alive." :)

The Doctor has confirmed there's a cancer in the lymph node. However, they are yet to investigate further whether it's a cancer of the lymph node (lymphoma) or from a different primary source that has traveled through the blood stream to the lymph nodes in the neck and the abdomen (meaning they need to figure out the primary source).

My specific prayer request of the day is for God to touch the heart and the mind of the nurses and administration personnel who had given us quite some challenges throughout the day.

There were a lot of misguided communication within the nurse team (one said A and another said B and another said C -- as if there was no patient record whatsoever), and the hospital gave us a hard time with the insensible bureaucracy to admit my dad to the room, which was already preserved under his name (and my dad had to wait for all these by sleeping on the waiting sofa). We don't feel at peace to have dad being taken care of by such a hospital, but we also believe that should God want him to stay there, surely He will open a way as to not giving us more stress for dealing with the nurses and admin, at least for the time being until he is released from this hospital.

Thanks for all your support, dear Brothers and Sisters. Blessings to you all.

The evil one will do all he can to take the glory from God. May God through His Holy Spirit guide the staff of this hospital to be compassionate, caring, and helpful to your dad and your family. May He recieve Glory for this, and my the cancer found be removed in the Name of Jesus Christ, our healer and redeemer. God bless and hold you and your family in Jesus name. To Him be the glory.

I know that's not easy. I knew someone who's father has cancer, and there struggling financially, because he's in the hospital. Praying for you. That God will give lift you up, and give you strength in this time. Confront and healing ~ So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

Dear all,

I found it hard to believe that my father has been diagnosed with anaplastic carcinoma, which is rare, malignant and often lethal in a short period of time (at least that's what's written all over Google). He looks fit and in high spirit, thus I do not plan to tell him what the term really means. I just want him to live a happy and joyful life.

I'm sure God has a great big picture of all this. I still don't know what it is about, and I'm still holding to my faith that He knows what He's doing. But I can't help myself from not being sad. Honestly, I can't imagine (and don't want to imagine) my dad leaving us. I really can't. I can't even more imagine how my mom will take it (and that's why I also have no plan to tell her the real thing about the terminology).

This will probably be my last post on this thread. All I ask would be a prayer for us to praise Him unconditionally, and to let go of our control and let God do His will in our life.

I sincerely praise God for all of you who prayed for us and provided encouragement and shared God's words. May God pour you with His love and blessings.

Thanks KittyCat for the awesome scripture. It reminds me not to hold grudge towards the individuals who made the whole process difficult. I still find it impossible to accept (that an institution can intentionally take advantage of those who are ill), but I'm trying to manage myself to let go of the rage and let God be the judge. Thank you for this lovely rebuke. God bless you. Purr.... :)
