Ive never understood ever why people having a problem
with human cooperation or choice.

To call it a work i think is nutty, and to call it merit is too.

Abraham believed and it was accounted to him for righteousness

Synergy is the cooperation of multiple elements to produce a result greater than the sum of their individual effects. The term synergy comes from the Greek word synergia συνεργία from synergos,συνεργός, meaning "working together".[SUP][1][/SUP]

If used in a business application, synergy means that teamwork will produce an overall better result than if each person within the group were working toward the same goal individually. However, the concept of group
cohesion needs to be considered. Group cohesion is that property that is inferred from the number and strength of mutual positive attitudes among members of the group. As the group becomes more cohesive, its functioning is affected in a number of ways. First, the interactions and communication between members increase. Common goals, interests and small size all contribute to this. In addition, group member satisfaction increases as the group provides friendship and support against outside threats.[SUP][5]

Church works like this in a way[/SUP]
I would agree with this in a body setting of believers.

But for how one is saved, I would strongly disagree.. I can not add to anything Christ did.

True. and I agree.

But when we are saved, we do have work to do. And God said he would reward us for it.. God has something for me to do. The difference is, If I do not co-operate with God and allow him to use me, he will just get someone else to do it..

He will still get his will done no matter what I do or do not do.

If God regenerated you whether you believed or not not a thing to do with you and you couldnt have even resisted
your a monergist

If God enabled you too see and you came into the light and believed the gospel and whether
you had any good in you or not(prolly not) you received, and believed, your a synergist

mike.
abram was hanging out in Ur, prolly worshipping idols and stuff.

the story opens with God appearing to him.
and saying (pp): "get your stuff, we're going"
wouldn't you follow?
LOL.

i dunno...there's no indication father abraham did anything but follow. and he sinned along the way, too.

abe isn't really the best example maybe.
and i can't get anyone to tell me about paul making a decision either.
just BAM

but i don't want to discuss it today.
this is just a hit and run post.

But why? Its Gods nature. Its the body life.
Why would not God let me choose?
I know He would have to bestow grace to my dead life to do that
But why would someone say if i said yes or no that im adding to my salvation
which by the way even has a name "gift"?

yeah but if synergism means I co-operated in my salvation. that would be false.. I did not co-operate. I just recieved my gift..

that is where I am confused.

Kath,
Ive believed in God since i was a we-we Im sure id say yes, why not?
I sure didnt know Him. But if He showed up i think id get the picture.

But that had nothing to do with faith. Seeing God face to face isnt faith

Oh but Abe just used his natural ability to make a "free will choice" to follow God, he just outsmarted the rest...

Or...maybe...God did not reveal himself to every-person-that-ever-lived...

i know...but if we are going to use actual persons from scripture we have to look at their whole story.
and the Holy Spirit might be invisible, but He's the same God....calling people.
i know what faith is. Abraham needed it too, and he did see God.

they all needed faith. we all do.
yet some people never receive it.
anyways....i said hit and run and i only kinda meant it.
haha

this is most certainly true.
the NT is clear that the mystery of a wide open salvation for gentiles just wasn't in the plan at all!
til after the Lord's mission to Israel.
it's kind of scary to think of it....

i know you get what i'm saying.
maybe.
anyways....i don't want any trouble at the moment.

i overdun it:(

Hey Zonest,

I may be mistaken, but I believe Paul (Romans 4) is referring more to Abraham's faith that God would give him a son in his old age, and that he would raise up another son when God tested him to see if he would sacrifice Isaac. If Abraham's faith resulted in his making a choice to sacrifice Isaac, then the choice (if a work) could be seen as contributing to Abraham's righteousness, (salvation from the Law). Certainly that choice was based on faith, which would not be possible without grace, but is it still a choice? Could Abraham have refused?

the could thing i don't do dave.
it's the corridors of time.
the point is he didn't.
and the Book is filled with ppl doing stuff before they ever did it ! PROPHECY.
so *shiver*

i just KNOW i didn't make any decision. the only decision i made was to run around blindly sinning and crying and fearful
that's all i know.

when i found myself (literally) holding reading and believing the scriptures, i knew...i believed...more than believed, i was CHANGED.
opened eyes. it's impossible for me, based on personal experience to be anything other than monergist.
