I know many people think it is okay to do so , but for me personally when I listen to non christian music i get in a different mood depending on the song, I really love artists like Amy Winehouse and others, their voices and creativity but the content and tone of the music is something moving away from where I am going. I am trying to focus on uplifting and inspirational music now.

What are your thoughts?

Thank You for reading and God Bless.

If to..you...listening to secular music is bad, than why ask the question if someone else think it is bad?

i tend towards more secular stuff simply because it sounds better and there is more variation

I agree with wwjd_kilden. Personally, I see nothing wrong with listening to "secular" music, especially considering the fact that this whole separation of Christian and secular didn't happen until 30 or 40 years ago, before that it was just all considered music whether it was rock n' roll or gospel, etc.

But, some people are more sensitive to music than others and if it causes you to move away from God in any way, then it's best to avoid it.

I guess when it boils down to it , what is most important is staying true with God and everybody is different, I suppose the reason I sometimes intentionally listen to secular music less, is so I am more aware of my beliefs and how to act/ treat people rather than get caught up slightly.

I listen to secular music, but I'm very choosy in what I will listen to. I don't care for a lot of the lyrics in today's music and especially the music itself is raunchy. My main preference is music from like the '60s, '70s, and '80s, and also by Celtic Woman and the Canadian Tenors. Like everything in life, you just have to be careful to what you listen to. I've listened to some songs by Christian artists that was almost worse than a secular one, so I don't always listen to music that has the word Christian on the label.

That is because the typical equivalence of CCM (praise and worship klove songs) is POP.

I am not interested in any world music. All music which is for God and Jesus is for me great and all instruments using for God and Jesus is great.

To hear this world music is for many ok what i have seen. The question is if it is okay for God. Just listen to the text and the sound. Sometimes it is like an earworm. For example i heard that song
[h=1]Harlem Shake Miami HEAT Edition on Youtube.[/h]That is an earworm. Avoid it brothers and sisters.

In Love.

I've never been a fan of christian music (except for the occasional band that I didn't know was christian but later learned they were). I like regular plain old rock and metal, with some other random genres thrown in here and there.
Mostly ranging through the 80,s, 90,s and 00's.

That, and the heresy in the lyrics.
I didn't know about the heresy since I don't listen to much modern Christian music. I think the only band I've listened to was Hillsong and the songs are almost ten years old by now.

I myself only listen to Christian music, unless I'm with my friends, because they are not Christian. However, I think that as long as the song is not immoral or have blaspheme in it, it would be perfectly ok.

I have used to listen 1/3rd of christian 2/3rd non christian music. Usually instrumental or christian metal. The instrumental is good because you don't focus the words but the emotion or thoughts. I even used few such for remaking lyrics to them more christian type lol.

Just remembered that I also listen to the Gaither Gospel group. Their music is definitely Holy Spirit filled.
