Not everyone will be drawn, born again by God.
God desires all to be saved.

1Ti 2:4 Who will (desires) have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Joh 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

see, i'm hearing about God's Love (and He is Love), and how He gave everyone a chance to believe (in eternity past?), but some refused to in spite of His clear offer so they are going into the lake of fire.

what i don't quite get with this, is:

WHY wouldn't the God Who is All Powerful and All Knowing Who knows the ignorance and hardness of men, their foolishness in loving sin more than Him OVER-RIDE all that and make certain they all understood without equivocation, without any doubt whatsoever where they were going for rejecting His clear and open offer? eternal fire?

why wouldn't the God Who is Love some are saying can not be basing His decisons on anything other than His absolute respect for man's free will OVER-RIDE their BAD free will choices?

let's face some reality - i know that IF the people i know who refuse to hear the Gospel REALLY understood what will happen they would absolutely repent!

but....they don't believe. they don't appear to be able to!

i don't know what that means.
They do. Romans says they do....says even more...says God put it in them.
Reformed have a more difficult time i think with an over active sense of God
electing. And i believe He does..just not as the reformed would say.

What is the scope of all?

John 12
[SUP]32 [/SUP]And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

Do you really think ALL people will come unto Jesus and be saved?

What is the scope of all?

I did a big naughty when i was younger knowing i could end up in prison.
My conscience became half seared in that activity and my heart grew hard.....poof
after a short time in jail i didnt do naughty things anymore. But i know how that
stuff works...The parable of the sower and the seed gives insights on that also.

I agree. . .

Can't an unregenerate person hear the written word or read the written word and gain faith or as you say receive the gospel and receive faith. After all isn't faith belief and doesn't one hear the word of God and believe. . .

for, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? . . . .Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:13-15a, 17

Thats exactly it...Why do they miss it? The gospel is the "power" of God "unto" salvation
And as many as received Him.....He(then) gave Power to "become" the sons of God

In that verse, the emphasize is on draw and not on all. God desires all to be saved, but not all will. The Gospel is offered to the world: both the Jew and the Gentile = all. So, do I think all people will come, no. Why? Freewill.

So, all the 'whosoever shall believe' really do not mean that, but means the elite elect? Shoot, let's go party like it is 1999 and let the dice roll as they may.
why would you say this?
do you not believe at the very least you are elected to salvation?
why say it like that chris?

it's that kind of thing that doesn't help at all.

there are passages we absolutely have to see are in scripture.
we may never agree on what they mean, but election is God's idea, and His plan.

whatever it means.

even if you believe He saw in eternity past that you chose Him, and He elected you on that basis, it still means He elected you. and if "elite elect" is the way you deride that, so be it.

Romans 8
26Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, becausef the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,g for those who are called according to his purpose. 29For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Not sure what to share. I believed in God from as far back as i can remember.
When i found out He hated sin(before i understood the gospel) i sorta snuck off.
But my conscience always bugged me out. I tried my best to be a goldmedalist
sinner and made it almost 2 years after i heard the gospel and gave up...in fear
He wouldnt take any more of my business..was about 18. Not sure what to say.
But i do know He wood me since i had a memory.

why would you say this?
do you not believe at the very least you are elected to salvation? --God has chosen those who are in Christ to be His people (I have chosen you, you have not chosen me. I shall call those who were not a people my people).
why say it like that chris? To me, that was the logical conclusion and was meant as an insight. But, if I offend by the way I said it, I apology to you and anyone else.

it's that kind of thing that doesn't help at all. --Yes, I am sorry.

whatever it means.

even if you believe He saw in eternity past that you chose Him, and He elected you on that basis, it still means He elected you. and if "elite elect" is the way you deride that, so be it. --I remember someone, I think Psychomom, who said: the few, the elect (something along that line) and thus: elite elect.

Reformed folks have told me that all things related to God, Repentance, belief
understanding the gospel message
etc come after regeneration.

early in romans tells different

ya...i just wondered if you could say what you see...not talk about calvinism at all.
just show it as you see it. like a study.
without mixing or contrasting it to calvinism.
cuz i think that's where some of us (me) go haywire.

if there's a totally separate view, that covers all the nuances we are discussing i would love to see it.
maybe you could recommend an author or two to help me understand?
sometime? not today.
thanks mikey:)

i got Lutheranism down....so if there's another thing i'm not seeing i want to.

I say i believed all were looking for the Light in this life and was so keen to share the Good news only to have a negative reaction.. this humbled me.

For all this Love and Joy i have received is "out of this world" and i'm content and realized that i must not attempt to put the Almighty in a little box based on what i know or believe..

Love and Trust Him in all things rather than answer that may be out of our capacity to comprehend.
