This is where if we had a female equivalent of Zao's or Descyple's ego, she would say something like, " I agree Arwen and my beauty will blind the eyes of most men!" :p

Or... for every curl in my hair is a man falling in love with me

Perdy ladies on CC? Yes, absolutely - not just outwardly either. Unfortunately they don't live in Australia. :(

You have curly hair too? :O

My hair is very curly. My avatar doesn't even show how curly it really gets. I don't want that many men in love with me, so I'll straighten it. :P

Oh no, I was speaking for Jullianna (since I've been doing that lately anyways :P). My hair is straight, though it will get wavy if I don't brush it after a shower. I still have to straighten it a bit cus my hair is pretty thick and it helps with frizziness.

Hahaha you're so merciful!

Whenever I see this thread title, the lyrics "Girl, you'll be a woman... soon" (or however it goes) pops into my head lol XD

I would vote for all the CC guys to move to my state, but I wouldn't wish Illinois on anyone. I mean, unless expensive gas, high taxes, and a corrupt government are your thing. And seemingly endless cornfields. Illinois does have really cool huge windmills, I'll give 'em that.

I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but I think of Tom Jones' "She's A Lady", in which case the only lyrics that get stuck in my head are, "She's a lady, oh whoa whoa she's a laaaady."

Also, arwen, from what I've seen of your avatars, you have purdy hair. And you're purdy. :) "Purdy" looks weird now. Then again it could be because it's not an actual word...(I also like your avatar now, I love trees!)

(Remember that one time I said that when it's late I really shouldn't be posting? I feel like this is one of those posts. :o)

I love Aussie girls. I can listen to em talk all day long....lol, I love the accent

For arwen :)

I can't help but see the woman at Jesus feet who had neither, the propper manners or propper dress..
out of all the women their that day ( most likely properly dressed and properly mannered) .. He chose to bend down in His grace to her . lifting her up into the lady she meant to be..

the picture flashed in my mind , thought it worth mentioning :)

Same for the CC girls but you all could come to Australia. :)

I'm okay with coming to Australia as long as the big spiders are kept away (FAR FAR AWAY) from me and I can make a side-tripe to New Zealand. :)

Except I've heard it's always hot there, and I hate the heat. But I do love the Aussie accent. :D

Great! It's not always hot here, only in Summer. I don't really like the heat either. I'll join you in New Zealand (I've always wanted to visit there).

1 Tim 9:1-10
Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

Jer 4:30
And you, O desolate one, what do you mean that you dress in scarlet, that you adorn yourself with ornaments of gold, that you enlarge your eyes with paint? In vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers despise you; they seek your life

1 Peter 3:3-4
Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.

Physical beauty is a gift from God but it doesn't compare to the beauty of a Godly character.
Song of Solomon describes a woman who is likely wearing makeup and jewelry, but it also shows it was worn in modesty. She is also a bride and was dressing FOR HER HUSBAND. Not for others to stare at her.

There is nothing in the bible that suggests women should wear makeup. What we are told is to be modest. Don't adorn yourself with pretty things to attract attention. That is vanity which is a sin.

If a woman spends everyday practicing a beauty routine with makeup, jewelry, hairstyling to improve her physical appearance then she should spend more time working on her spiritual beauty.

Also, just because a woman looks pretty doesn't make her Godly or even a lady. Makeup isn't what makes a woman beautiful. Jewelry isn't what makes her feminine.

I have nothing against wearing makeup and looking nice, but even when I go out and I am not "prettied up" it is still obvious I am a woman, and not some man hating feminist. Looks fade, but a womans true inner beauty never will. She will only become more beautiful as time goes by. When I do dress up I am modest. I don't dress to attract negetive attention either. I don't wear low cut shirts or short dresses. I present myself as a lady.

One more thing. If you or any other male on this planet thinks makeup and jewelry is what makes a woman attractive or a lady then you have absolutely NO clue what a real woman is. Which is truly sad.

does it seem as if i'm stalking you? ;)

my sister and i have 9 daughters between us,and we were talking last week about the hair and makeup thing.
when we were young, being clean, maybe a little mascara, and some clear lip balm was about all anyone did before going out.
sometimes we realize one of our girls has been prepping to leave the house for 2-3 hours.

we thought about this, and then my sister said, 'What if women spent that much time putting on Christ before going out?"
(for that matter, what if men did as well? :) )

anyhoo--that r-e-a-l-l-y struck me.
but my friend sue's justification for makeup?

Abstain from all appearance of evil. (1 Thes. 5:22)

;)

LOL! My hair has a will all its own. Sometimes I think it’s a separate entity. J I keep it very long because the weight pulls out some of the curliness…or tie it up…or roll it up with hot rollers, so it will at least curl the way I want it to…for a few hours *sigh* J

*sigh* I know EXACTLY what you mean.

On the subject of the OP, back in the day being a lady had everything to do with social standing and required women to act gentile, they were expected to have certain manners and maintain a certain sense of propriety. Now, though, when I think of being a lady I think of a woman who respects herself and others around her, who keeps herself composed and doesn't let emotion run her life, who will stand up for injustice and take care of the poor and weak. I think that "a woman of God" could easily be tied into being a lady, but I don't think of it as a spiritual thing so much as a character quality. ^_^
