What are your thoughts on listening to Non Christian music ?

it depends on the content of the music , but if you are easily influenced by what you hear then you should try and find Christian music that speaks to you.

i listen to all types of music, but Christian is my favorite
 
some chrstian artist sing songs that are clean songs that sound good,but the songs don't have the name of JESUS in them.They have the name GOD in them.Although it doesn't bother me,these songs in my opinion are just good songs but not worship songs.

The word of God speaks for itself, but many ignore His strong warnings and do as they please because to obey God is works to them, and any works of faith is not accepted!
 
why does it need to have the name Jesus to count? Thats the most backwards thing Ive heard as if the name God or whatever other term they may use isn't good enough?

to me the name JESUS makes the song true.anyone can be your god.This is my personal feeling.
 
A song doesn't have to have the name of Jesus in it to be a Christian song and a song is certainly not more holy if it mentions his name more times than other songs. Be sensible, please.

It certainly sounds better. There are artists I enjoy that have no complement in christian music for one. And two, secular music does have more money when it comes to making albums thus higher studio production values and an overall better sound quality.

On the other hand Christian music lyrics tend to be repetitive in content, kinda heard one, heard em all.
 
Yes this is true. although some may sound good, the message may be unconsciously getting to you in a negative way. I like encouraging and inspirational music ftw hehe.
 
I love all music but I've realized the closer I get to God the more worldly music will disturb me. I used to work at a retail store a few months ago and worldly music like Rihanna, Beyonce & etc. were played ALL the time. At first when I started working there it disturbed me but I noticed I started getting used to it. Then i started learning all the music and just wanted to dance to it. Now I see how it my mood and way of thinking was influenced by it.

Recently, for New Years our family had a beginning of the year prayer. I was filled with the spirit and collapsed face down on my face & knees. What wasn't of God was being pulled out of me and the spirit was refilling me. A few days later I went to work and I literally could not stand the music. I wanted to run out of the store. I felt as if the music would automatically be rejected by my spirit... It would just bounce off me. I would hear the lyrics and just remember feeling the words so amplified in my spirit and just knowing that something wasnt Right.I could just clearly feel a dark spirit behind the music. Like a sexual and idolatry spirit. It came to the point that I had to turn it off. That's when I realized how powerful and influencing music really is... And truth is the spiritual realm is also working behind music. Sorry if I sound kind of weird but I literally feel this. So that's what I base my opinion on.

But I love all music and there is worldly music that sometimes sounds very christian. But I've always been a huge fan of Nora jones. Love her style and her voice, very similar to Amy winehouse actually.

I guess if my life were encouraging anf inspirational than sure...but Id rather enjoy music I can relate too...
 
Well as long as the music isn't ant Christian (vulgar, blasphemous, negative, abusive etc) I can't see it as wrong
 
I listen to a lot of classical music. Some of it is Christian in content (sacred choral works) and some of it isn't eg some opera and instrumental. I listen to Mozary who wrote sacred music but was also a Freemason (ditto Purcell an Haydn)I listen toBenjamin Britten who was a paedophile and homosexual (although the padeo stuff wasn't acted on) to Elgar who was a lapsed Catholic, to Vaugan Williams who was a womaniser. But the content of their music is mostly good (exception of Mozarts magic gFlute which is Masonic). To me it is content that counts
 
I use to listen to Megadeth because i liked Dave's Hair, but now i listen to Megadeth because i love Dave's music.

most 'christian music' is not very good music, we just listen to it and think that we have to enjoy it because the christian subculture says that we should. the only difference between 'christian music' and other music, it that our artists are often lacking in talent.
