Is there any way in which we can avoid scaring off new christians, who are new to the faith?

Lately there has been mostly meat discussions, many of them getting heated, and although debates encourage more study of God's word, the new christians (and non believers) come here and all they see is division and hatred, not the support they need. I didn't grow when I was first saved, which led to my backsliding for many years.

The basics get lost in the shuffle, therefore making this site more friendly to maturer christians on meat, rather than those new to the faith, that start on the milk.

Maybe we could have a new forum for 'baby' believers? Alternatively, I wonder if a color code would work, just like a curry menu shows 4 red peppers next to it for super spicy. The meaty threads could be marked with red peppers and determined by admin? I don't know, just a thought. Since all discussions happen in the bible forum, would be an idea to separate threads in this way.

A newbie recently said in a forum "As a new Christian, I thought that this site would help me. I am finding it so divisive -- people calling each other heretics and damning each other to hell. This is undermining my faith, not helping it. I just wanted to throw this out there"

it does get kinda dicey at times, and there are always wolves amongst the sheep. :(

i was terrified of the Bible forum and i'd been churched for y-e-a-r-s! (i mean, seriously, LOOK at my age! lol)

I think this is the best idea i have heard on this forum, we should pm Robo right away
 
This is not a new suggestion. I've seen it made before. But i would not advise messaging Robo just to make suggestions. That's what we have this forum here for. To make suggestions. Robo has a lot to do and having to take PM's about site suggestions when there is already a place to put them is just something to get in his way.
I think that's why he created this forum, so people would stop contacting him directly over every idea they have about the site. Now they can all be centralized in one location and he can come and read them when he has the time.

Yes: do the opposite of what the above paragraph outlines.
 
I like this idea too. Some of the threads here are a little beyond my understanding quite yet (I found the Lord in 2009 so I'm relatively new myself). My sister was saved nearly 30 years ago when she met her husband and began going to his church, which they did for about 10 years. However she never reads her Bible and rarely goes to church any more. However she is the most Godly, gracious, faith filled person I know. But a lot of the threads in here would be way beyond her understanding or interest. So, I do think we can find a way to let the new believers and the curious, in gently and hopefully keep them.
