They're not really phrases but different words I can do. Here are some examples:
US, then Aussie words:
Thongs - G strings, Footwear
Cart, Trolley
Car, Tram
Automobile, Car
Closet, Wardrobe
Sidewalk, Footpath
Parking Lot, Car Park
John, Toilet or Loo (if you're being silly - the Bog)
And that phrase you used, something like "That's just not crickets!" That's just so funny to me.
On a serious note, I agree with Relena in that both genders tend to get a bad rap. Girls are either portrayed as nagging, overbearing fun-suckers OR super ditzy/stupid, twirling their hair, popping their gum, and saying "like" after every third word. Or, a third portrayal is that they're completely helpless and depressed until a man comes along and "completes them".
I do agree with the general consensus that men get a bad rap, in entertainment, real life, and in church. Like Tintin said, there aren't an abundance of good male role models (especially in the entertainment industry), and so unfortunately some of the bad rap is confirmed. Just some, though. I know that there are awesome guys out there,I've met a few in real life and there are many on CC

, it's just that that lifestyle isn't glorified so the bad rap gets more attention. "You're faithful to your wife, you lead her, and you care for her well-being as much as yours? You WANT kids? What's wrong with you, sounds like a boring, tied-down life to me!" That's the attitude of most entertainment industries, so they're certainly not looking to promote/showcase that.
What's sad is that many churches are too busy condemning men for their shortcomings (not that women don't have theirs, but men seem to be more called out for them) to disciple, encourage, and build those men up.
