Haha! Who tells you this stuff, Donkey? Women are allowed to own property in Australia. They're also treated equally to men in most respects, less in some and more respected in others (very similar to how it would be in much of the US). Yes, we currently have a female prime minister. No, you'll definitely be put in jail for beating up women. You could do a lot less than that to a woman and be put in jail. So no, our animals will kill you, but as a country we do (generally) respect our women.

You will get arrested if your dingo eats a baby :P

Tintin, what are some common phrases that Aussies use that are foreign to the rest of the world?

Common phrases in regards to what, arwen? Could you be more specific, please? Thanks, mate! :)

P.S. Is that the Tree of Gondor in your profile picture?

IDK like stuff that westerners would wonder what the heck you are talking about- like do you call the bathroom a watercloset or lou?

Yep, sure is!

They're not really phrases but different words I can do. Here are some examples:

US, then Aussie words:
Thongs - G strings, Footwear

Cart, Trolley
Car, Tram
Automobile, Car
Closet, Wardrobe
Sidewalk, Footpath
Parking Lot, Car Park
John, Toilet or Loo (if you're being silly - the Bog)

I got some killer comments from my last Arwen/Jullianna inspired thread, so thank you everyone who offered input! However that lead me to a whole other line of questioning. Do you ever notice how in a lot of movies about married couples the guy is rarely ever right, and the women is never wrong? What's up with that? Or when you go to some marriage seminar or I guess for those who haven't been married, your church does a sermon or series on marriage, they start pulling that Happy Wife Happy Life, or "I was wrong, I apologize, it will never happen again" garbage (in reference to what the husband should say). I thought marriage was an equal partnership? And we are constantly bombarded by, not just shows and movies, but even church and marriage counselers who constantly look down on the male being the stupid know nothing of the marriage. No wonder guys take absolutely no initiative. With many of us having sercurity issues as it is do you really think it's helpful to be even more discouraged by the kinds of teachings that are so widly accepted?

What are your thoughts on this?

I agree with this. It's particularly true of tv sitcoms.

One thing that really bothers me is that disrespecting your man to your friends seems to be a very popular thing among women. If they caught their men doing that, they'd go ballistic.

This is a very real fear of mine. That's why the girl I pursue must be a Godly girl.

And that phrase you used, something like "That's just not crickets!" That's just so funny to me. :D

On a serious note, I agree with Relena in that both genders tend to get a bad rap. Girls are either portrayed as nagging, overbearing fun-suckers OR super ditzy/stupid, twirling their hair, popping their gum, and saying "like" after every third word. Or, a third portrayal is that they're completely helpless and depressed until a man comes along and "completes them".

I do agree with the general consensus that men get a bad rap, in entertainment, real life, and in church. Like Tintin said, there aren't an abundance of good male role models (especially in the entertainment industry), and so unfortunately some of the bad rap is confirmed. Just some, though. I know that there are awesome guys out there,I've met a few in real life and there are many on CC :), it's just that that lifestyle isn't glorified so the bad rap gets more attention. "You're faithful to your wife, you lead her, and you care for her well-being as much as yours? You WANT kids? What's wrong with you, sounds like a boring, tied-down life to me!" That's the attitude of most entertainment industries, so they're certainly not looking to promote/showcase that.

What's sad is that many churches are too busy condemning men for their shortcomings (not that women don't have theirs, but men seem to be more called out for them) to disciple, encourage, and build those men up.

This "indoctrination" is being done deliberately - for the purpose of disrupting and destroying good, wholesome, "proper relationship" marriage and family values.

Satan does not want us to have healthy relationships... (especially God-honoring ones)

Yes and no, GRA. TV reflects society and in turn TV influences society.

No, guys don't get a bad rap from
Me.. Deserve to be lifted up, honored and respected as God says they are

Yo, yo, home girl. Where you at? I be rocking these streets. :P (crosses arms and poses like a G)

The man is ordained to be beholden to God.
He is ordained to be the head of the household.
What happens when he is not?
Well, easy; someone else is.
Who else? Well.......the great society.
So it comes down to Lucifer creating a puppet, a 'man' puppet 'character' of the father.
So his society can take the man's place.
Three ordinations by God:
1. Family
2. Church
3. Government
Satan turns it upside down.
1. Free love(wanton sex), which splits apart the family
2. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -(501c3)
3. Who's your daddy? Government programs, (you've come along way baby!)

It's sad that it's so hard for women to feel comfortable they will find a good husband. I told my wife I was so concerned I felt the need to go old testament and add a few more wives to the stable, but she wasn't having it. :) I'll keep all you single ladies posted if she should change her mind. :)

The problem is, most women act like there waiting for the second coming of messiah. By the time he comes, you won't need to get married, and he wouldn't marry you anyway. (To christian women) This isn't the movies! And your not Angelina Jolie anyway.

I know a handful of really good christian men but just because they don't walk around like they have an ego problem, christian women don't look at them twice. On the other hand, I know some real egotistic, much less decent men, and they can't seem to fight the christian women off fast enough.

My man is strong in the Lord.. (He's not here yet) Gods building Him
Up still.. but I'm confident In my Gods ability.. And know what kind of man He's going to be.. the head and not the tail, He's an Alpha and
In Christ , can do all thing through Christ who strengthens Him.. He will
Walk and not stumble.. I'm proclaiming and professing the God I know is in Him.. why? Because God made this
man, one of a kind! a
piece of artwork never imitated , never to be duplicated .. I can't wait to see the gifts he's
Put in Him .. Because what He's already discovered from
God, Gods going to get the glory and watch them be Diacovered again. And if He thinks He has a talent He hasn't discovered,
You bet I'll be His biggest fan telling him to dive in and watch God be glorified
By it.. Yep my man of God is surely on His way .. I don't know where he's at or who he is .. But I already sense Him. :)

Hmmm. I don't understand. There are plenty of Single men out there, playing computer games. Why not go where the single men are? Play computer games! They'll fall in love with you so quick! Bahahahahhaa.
