I found this post in one of the book clubs i followed in fb, and wanted to know if guys are really doing it. <teehee>
Unfortunately, i started loving *reading* after i graduated college, as my job required me to supervise students who took Christian Literature.

It's a cute story but it sounds more like a girl's perspective of what guys would do. That's not to say we don't admire girls from afar, even in libraries etc (we do). but it doesn't play out like a quirky romance novel. At least that's my (lack of) experience.

Yes, I've done things like this. Not dealing with a library though.

I've written a fair amount of poetry though, and used poetry to approach a girl.

You poor thing! Well, that's actually true of many girls here.
I mean honestly i read all of twilight one week when i was bed-ridden sick and my gf at the time had left her copies there. It wasprobably one of the worst things ive ever done to myself.

I also had the misfortune of trying a couple chapters. It was not enjoyable.

How did you manage the whole thing? I usually put a book down if I don't like it.

Its an odd ocd thing I have. If I start a book series it really bugs me if I don't finish it. Besides at the time I was naive about Twilight, it was fairly new, so I had't heard how bad it was and figured it could only get better...I can't believe how wrong I was.

Well, i only heard of those but got no interest on reading. Maybe because i'm not into fictional genre, but rather more on self-help, spirituality, real stories of some sort..

Oh, I feel sad for you... At least you can say you know what it's about firsthand.

More blessings to both of you. May God's love covers you for a lifetime.

That's unfortunate; though, I suppose at least that means that they're reading. I tried reading Twilight after one of my friends compared it to Pride and Prejudice (probably drawing parallels between people's reactions to Darcy and Edward.) I had to stop after a couple of chapters-- Edward seemed emotionally abusive.

He is. I read all four books in high school. It's terrible writing and there is no depth at all to the characters. Edward IS emotionally abusive. What's sad is that a lot of the girls (and older women, even) who read those books want someone like Edward. Sorry, but I'd prefer if my future boyfriend didn't watch me while I slept without my knowledge and didn't have the urge to kill me, and isn't controlling.

In my head I'm a realist and in my heart I'm a romantic, so this is my head speaking, but I don't find that note to be very realistic. Cute, yes. But do I think that really happens? No. I think that's why I don't really care for chick flicks either. My head knows that that stuff does not actually happen in real life, not the way it's portrayed most of the time, at least.
