He is. I read all four books in high school. It's terrible writing and there is no depth at all to the characters. Edward IS emotionally abusive. What's sad is that a lot of the girls (and older women, even) who read those books want someone like Edward. Sorry, but I'd prefer if my future boyfriend didn't watch me while I slept without my knowledge and didn't have the urge to kill me, and isn't controlling.
In my head I'm a realist and in my heart I'm a romantic, so this is my head speaking, but I don't find that note to be very realistic. Cute, yes. But do I think that really happens? No. I think that's why I don't really care for chick flicks either. My head knows that that stuff does not actually happen in real life, not the way it's portrayed most of the time, at least.

I tend to be a head type of person as well. But, I also have plenty of real-life romances (mostly my friends' parents and relatives) to look at, so, I can't get too cynical.
