I'm Sorry... but this thread title is soooooo...NOT BIBLICAL!
The idea that it is God's job to BRING a partner is not biblical... God has done his job! He made Adam and Eve and populated the earth, the secured our redemption and gave us His inspired word with specific guidance on how to pair up!!!
It may not be His "job", even though He did bring Eve to Adam (Gen 2:22), but He brought me to Anna and Anna to me. So He does do it sometimes.

This Forum has the majority of singles saying "if it's God's will for me to marry"... YES YES YES it IS!!!... and instead of wondering "if" it would be more productive to pursue "doing".
I appreciate your point, but it is NOT God's will for everyone to marry. Jesus says so in Matt. 19:12. Your point is well taken, that it is just plain stupid to wait for God to bring someone to you. Unless God tells you not to, you should go out and look, and meet people. This is also important so you can decide what kind of Christian partner you want and would be comfortable with your call, and you with theirs. If you are one of the people Jesus speaks about, God will show you quickly enough.

I would think Ken... that you have read enough of my posts to recognize that I am fully aware that some (as in FEW) are to be eunuchs, but that the intent of my post was that the MAJORITY are to MARRY.... yet we have now a "christian" society who are single and wondering "is it his will?"... when the question has been answered in scripture.
ANd we are in disagreement about "HIS call" and "HER call" as that is neither a biblical principal either... marriage and family is the primary ministry for EVERY believer (except eunuchs) and pursuing a "ministry" above marriage and family building is not according to God's authoritative order.

Nuns...I think many people in general (not just christians) deal with how you feel. Unfortunately those are never good reasons to start a relationship,or go down the road to marriage. (which you obviously know) Sometimes you can end up feeling alone even worse when your with someone if it's not ordained by God...heck,I've even known strong christian couples that have had times in their marriage where they've felt terribly alone. As always, everything comes down to just daily giving our hearts & minds over to God more & more. Easier said than done,I know. Thank God,we are all works in progress. I worry, the day I wake up & feel as though I've "arrived" & think I've got all the answers...lol surely my ruin will be just around the corner that day. :)

You're right, companionship is not really a good reason to marry. It's definately something I'm working on... becoming more reliant on God. Being human I fear being alone even though I'm really not alone. I definately do think many Christians struggle with this though so I'm glad you started this thread! :)

I'm not trying to criticize you at all, Barlygurl. I have seen far too often that the same questions occur over and over, and old threads are not consulted. I am trying to keep the record straight, that's all. "Calls" from God are quite Biblical, as Jesus called His 12, all prophets, judges, kings, all had calls from God. I agree with you on the majority issue, but those who find their way to CC are not the "majority". They are a highly selective group of people, who both want to follow Jesus, and who have internet skills. I suspect that the percentage of CCers with a call from God, and those who might have God bring them a mate, is way higher than average.

You are right, I do not agree that every believer is to marry and raise a family. If that were the case, Paul would never have posted his advice about not seeking a mate, if you do not have one, and would not have said to marry to avoid fornication. He would have sai flat out everyone should marry unless told otherwise.

I am perfectly happy to let all opinions stand, as long as the Scriptures are out in front, so each person may find where God wants him or her.

If God doesn't bring me a partner...do I get choice in what God does?

No need to go OVERBOARD... the idea that God's hand needs to be involved in the decision... to find/choose... Is exactly what I was referring to. There are a more than enough potential mates to choose from.... and while this has been an issue of debate in other threads... plainly speaking:
If Christian marriage is to be a picture between Christ and the Church... then all that is required is a man find a christian woman who consents... period. We can turn this into a 15-thousand response thread in opinion and debate but once a person decides to pin in down to scripture... that's the bottom line. This Forum has the majority of singles saying "if it's God's will for me to marry"... YES YES YES it IS!!!... and instead of wondering "if" it would be more productive to pursue "doing".
Making an end run around my point and restating the claim that God'd hand be involved "IF"... is just quarreling over words not the point. You either believe the bible or you don't... if a person lacks understanding... they can pray God open the scripture to them... so there is NO excuse there.
And yes... I am the first person... because I really do wish to encourage people to LEARN THE BIBLE, so they can be successful in life endeavors, as opposed to floundering around with questions like the title of this thread.
Well since you are a senior member let's just close the thread as it obviously is causing you to stumble & Lord knows I don't want to be held accountable for a brother or sister in Christ falling off the wagon because of the letter of the word & not the spirit behind it. I obviously touched on some nerve with you & I am sorry. My intentions were never to have people flounder..I would hope all would study the bible on their own & have a personal relationship which Jesus exclusively unto themselves in how he reveals his will unto them. Let's not turn this into a 15-thousand response thread as you said. This will be my last post here. If you want to delete the entire thread,it's fine by me,or I will do it. Let me know. I was not trying to go OVERBOARD...lol.

I do not honestly know. I think I am a very self-driven individual in which I have things I know I must do and currently, there is no room for a relationship, so I do not seek or want one at the moment. But that said, I am still very young, after I do what I must, I cannot imagine living the rest of my life alone.

Nothing like a mocking to distort the point.... <<<clapping>>>

I wasn't trying to distort the point, but I am glad you realized I WAS indeed mocking you. lol I'm glad you got that..I hate to have to explain the punchline. Peace out!

Well, I would say that men are told to FIND a wife.
So, to me it's not so much 'sending' for men.
As for women, God provides. (In other words, if they need a man, God will provide)
The Apostle Paul said it was better to stay single, because you can serve the Lord instead of your mate. -
- ("Oh Johnny,....blah,blah,blah")
God's grace provides either way. If you want a mate, if you want to smell someone else's socks - - go ahead.
Find Him/Her......they are out there.
But the reality is that Jesus is the Husband of the church.
So if you part of that spiritual assembly you already have a soul mate.
Waiting/searching for Mr./Ms. right? - Who isn't?
But in the final analysis, Jesus IS your soul mate.

I pose the question: why would God do the above (except when a person does not wish to get married) when marriage is divinely given to men and women as a gift from Him...Heb 13v4 (Gen 2v20,22): 'Marriage is honorable among all...'?

Yahweh Shalom

Yes[: no matter how bad things seem to us, they are always good in The Lord's sight. "For we know that God bring all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28)

Amen, ammiman. And those who love Him will know Him, Scripture tells us.

He knows our every thoughts, He knows what way is not juzt best for us but best blesses us and that way unquestionably will bring glory to His name.

"Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.' :)

This thread has stuck in my mind for a day or so now. Right this moment, I would have to answer "No!" to the question of would I be cool with God not bringing me a partner. I go through times where it's all I think about, and then I cycle back into normal thought processes. :) But I had a thought yesterday about this idea... and perhaps I NEED to be ok with the idea of being single for the rest of my life. I started journaling a week ago.. (I hope I can stick with it) I am doing my normal quiet-time/bible study, but now I am reflecting in writing about what qualities/characteristics of God I am reading about, and trying to delight in those, and hopefully learn more about God, and myself in the process. So far it's made me think more deeply about the chapters/passages I am reading, so that is a bonus!

So yeah. Maybe I need to be ok with being single. Contentment with God alone. It's a journey!

Even if the healing doesn't come. And life falls apart. And dreams are still undone. You are God. You are Good. Forever faithful One. Even if the healing- Even if the healing doesn't come.

im not cool being single for life.
i've had sad experiences about falling in love and i am hoping that God will see that and give me the "man" He created for me.
as in, i hope its now or next day or pretty soon!
i really wanna start a relationship with a Believer soon and hopefully get married and raise a family.
that is all i ever needed at this time. haha

That's one of the hardest songs for me to sing and mean the words, but I know it is truth. Thank you for sharing that. :)

If God does bring me a partner I will be very surprised and may just die of shock right then and there.

I'd love to meet a great man, marry him and have children and raise them to know the Lord. That is MY will. God's will may be the same or it may be different. You don't need to get married and have kids in order to raise others up to know the Lord.

If I'm never to marry or have kids then I guess that's a walk I'll have to undertake and take it as it coms. Many married people struggle as well because marriage is HARD work, probably harder than being single at times because your responsibilities are increased by one, two, three or more people as your family grows. Being forever single is difficult because you face the pressures of sex outside a marriage, turning to porn and masturbation, envy, loneliness and depression... although that happens within some marriages too!

I grew up in a strong family where it's the normal thing in my family to marry your first boyfriend or girlfriend and have many babies. While I have a strong desire to do the same as my family I must realize that as time passes by it may not be what God has in store for me, which hurts. I don't want to miss out on those great moments and experiencing that kind of romantic love that is so talked about. I've always been different from my family (not in a black sheep way but the closest to fit the role out of my siblings) so... who knows?

When I get down about it I have to recite Matthew 6:31-34 to myself:
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
