Yes it is what I think but witchcraft is still against what the Bible say. Christians should not read Harry Potter because of the witchcraft. It is just stories but witchcraft is still wrong in God's eyes. Stay away from Harry Potter. It is very daingerous. Other people may found nothing wrong with Harry Potter but I still say the Bible tells us to have nothing to do with witchcraft and Harry Potter is still wrong.

You seem to be basing that on nothing but fear.
As a Christian I dont like any stuff with witchcraft in. You may think I seem to be basing on nothing but fear but I will always believe Harry Potter is wrong. I hate Harry Potter.

As believers we are to be occupied with Christ, not Harry Potter. What Spirit-filled believer really cares about Harry Potter? It's all vanity, all empty and dead. To even be interested in any of it represents death. I guarantee you that 100 years from today, Harry Potter will mean absolutely nothing to you, but God's word will never pass away. If you spent hours reading and watching any of it, not matter how intriguing it may be, it is not eternal, it can't build you up in Christ or minister grace to you. Why then be occupied with any of it or anything like it? Read the book of Ecclesiastes and see what you think then. Don't be condemned by what I said, just consider the truth and love of it in your relationship with Christ. Heb 13:9

I agree if you give up Harry or Barry, or Larry, or whatever it is you like. And spend that time in God. Your spiritual life will grow exponentially. Charles Finney called these things "vain amusements" I believe. Things that don't really contribute to the physical, mental, or spiritual well-being of ourself or another person.

When I was saved, watching t.v. is something that God just faded out of my life, along with other things like smoking, drinking and cusssing. Now a days, I rarely watch t.v. or movies, and if they have bad content, I'm just not interested. Has anyone else have the same experience?

Densetzu - I agree with that blog post. God can inspire great works of art. I suppose the argument would be: is Harry Potter art inspired by God? Art inspired by God that uses the enemies tools? Or is it the work of Lucifer?

Again, I think it comes down to knowing yourself. If you can read a fiction book and know it's fiction, then reading Harry Potter would not be a danger for you. If you think you'll be too influenced by this book to put some belief into it; then you probably shouldn't.

An Atheistic view could be: The only difference between Harry Potter and The Bible is that Harry Potter doesn't advertise itself as fact.

etiennemarais - I think you should hate less. It's only a book. If you believe it threatens your view of God/Christianity/Religion, then ignore it. If it's God's will as well then, in time, we all would ignore it.

Do you think Satan is against racism, sexism, murder, hatred, pride, arrogance, corruption, etc? These are the sorts of things that Rowling is really against in the novels.

If Satan inspired the Harry Potter novels, then he sounds like a decent guy!

I spend time with God not with any thing that I believe is wrong. God has told me to tell people that the Bible clearly tells us to have nothing to do with witchcraft. The whole world who like Harry Potter need to hear that the Bible told us that witchcraft is wrong in God's eyes. I have praying many times for the salvation of JK Rowling and all the actors in the Harry Potter movies. Till the day that they retrun to Jesus I will keep on praying for their salvation.

Good grief, I can't speak for any of the actors, but JK Rowling is already a believer, mate. She's one of us.

If she a Christian then that makes her books automatically "christian" doesn't it. Like CS Lewis's LOL. Let's see how many people get saved through reading Harry Potter.

lol..this post again! Had this one a few months ago. Heres the thing if you don't like the books or movies then that is absoloutly your choice in the matter. Each person has his or her own opinion of this and when it gets right down to it that is all that matters. You think what you think...i think what i think. Noone should force their ways on someone else...a statement was made, we know where you stand on this matter and god bless you. thanks for bringing awareness to a matter that you see as harmful to christianity. done deal.

Um... Nobody is going to get saved through reading Harry Potter because that's not the point of Harry Potter. Or entertainment in general for that matter.

Your statement is sort of a non-sequitur; it's like saying "How many people are going to get saved from eating a cheeseburger?"

^^ LOL God can use anything even the foolish things of this world to turn people to Him. He can use the rich, poor, the most influential person, even an animal...Do not undermine His abilities...though I'm not saying that reading Harry Potter can get you saved but who knows...

Well my point was people get so proud of the fact that Rowling is a Christian,

Good grief, I can't speak for any of the actors, but JK Rowling is already a believer, mate. She's one of us.
as if it's like, "Oh, it's ok then, Harry Potter books were written by a Christian".

Then I ask the question, how much good has her books done as a Christian? Or how much harm has her books done leading people away from Christ?

I frankly don't care if she's a Hare Krishna or a Jew, or what religion she personally holds to. The fact is she plagiarises, writes and publishes trash.

An answer or some figures to show exactly what kind of damage the Harry Potter books have done to Christianity, or any religion really, could be quite helpful to this argument. I'm not saying you have to find them, MahoganySnail. I'm just saying that evidence of the amount of people JK Rowling has turned away from their previous religion would help answer at least the affect of the books on people. The answer of whether it's evil or not would be a personal view.
