Psalm 18

18 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;
[SUP]26 [/SUP]With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
[SUP]28 [/SUP]For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
[SUP]29 [/SUP]For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
[SUP]30 [/SUP]As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
[SUP]31 [/SUP]For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?
[SUP]32 [/SUP]It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
[SUP]33 [/SUP]He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
[SUP]34 [/SUP]He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
[SUP]35 [/SUP]Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
[SUP]36 [/SUP]Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
[SUP]37 [/SUP]I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
[SUP]38 [/SUP]I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
[SUP]39 [/SUP]For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
[SUP]40 [/SUP]Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.
[SUP]41 [/SUP]They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the Lord, but he answered them not.
[SUP]42 [/SUP]Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.
[SUP]43 [/SUP]Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
[SUP]44 [/SUP]As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.
[SUP]45 [/SUP]The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.
[SUP]46 [/SUP]The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
[SUP]47 [/SUP]It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
[SUP]48 [/SUP]He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
[SUP]49 [/SUP]Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
[SUP]50 [/SUP]Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

Jon, you have to realise a good kick up the backside works for some, but it doesn't for others. For those whom it doesn't work, it's counter-productive. They just become more resentful and are more likely to ignore or stir you up. It's not worth it. If you see there's an issue here, you take it to God and let him deal with it. Street preachers in Rundle Mall. You know the one. Truth in Love.

Ok let me just ask a logical sequence of questions if the answers yes then proceed to the next question...
A) Do you believe God created the universe?
B) Do you think a being powerful enough to create universes has the ability to leave us an accurate guide to learn about him?
C) Now choose between following this guide or following man made doctrine loosley based on parts of this guide but at the same time directly contradicting alot of it.
If Jesus is the son of God it would make sence to do EXACTLY what he says.

God is watching your response and you will be judged on it accordingly.

I have given you truths, I am truly sorry that your eye's and heart have been blinded to those truths. I will pray for you though

UOTE=7seven7;948924]Carey, I have argued these EXACT same points in earlier forums. Please read the Catholic Church's position on all these. And PLEASE! INQUISITION? Do you not know about the Protestants killing Catholics in England for not following their way? Come on Carey, there's evil in EVERY Church. Including the Catholic. But Her teachings are sound if you allign them all together. Believe me! I really wouldn't be here otherwise. When I was saved last year, I almost converted to SDA, until I researched all the Catholic Churches positions on all the SDA's accusations about Her. Have there been evil people in the Catholic Church? OF COURSE! AND THERE STILL IS!! But the Church as a whole is NOT evil. It is so beautiful! You can really see Christ's work being done in the Catholic Church. Do you know how many missionaries She has? Do you have ANY IDEA how much good She does in this world? Or will you all just keep concentrating on Her human flaws? If so, then you must see the same in the other Churches too, because they are ALL GUILTY!![/QUOTE]

My answers, brother.
(A) Yes
(B) Yes
(C) I choose this Guide, through the guidance and advice given to me by the Holy Spirit. You want to ask me how the Holy Spirit has told me to go about it? By using the tool He has placed here on Earth in order to guide us weak humans. Just the same as you listening to your preachers and pastors, who you put so much faith in, even to the extent of calling Catholics "evil" without doing your own research on their position in regards to why you have been told that they are evil. I researched, am still researching and learning, and will always be learning. And believe me, if you can prove to me that what the Catholic Church teaches is evil and from the evil one, I will be the first to leave. But so far, I have found that all these splits from the Church are the work of the evil one, trying to weaken the Body of Christ, while deceiving millions into thinking that they can do it an easier way to suit their own weaknesses and lifestyles. And you're letting him do his work quite easily, I must say. God bless.

I dont put my faith in any pastors. Why put faith in man? Rather put it in Father Son and Holy Spirit. I learn directly from his word. Just like Jesus told me to.

I'm not going to go right through it, Carey, but i will point out the first flaw I came accross as soon as I started reading this. In the first part (about tradition not being important). Your side hasn't included every verse in the Bible which talks about this. E.g.-

1 Corinthians 11:2
[ Head Coverings ] I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I handed them on to you.

AND

2 Thessalonians 2:15So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter.

AND

2 Thessalonians 3:6[ Warning against Idleness ] Now we command you, beloved, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from believers who are living in idleness and not according to the tradition that they received from us.

You see, Carey, this study was obviously done by somebody who didn't want you to see the WHOLE TRUTH, and just picked the verses to suit his/her argument and accusations of the Catholic Church, as usual. This point I made came to me as soon as I read the first part.

So you're telling me that all these accusations you make against the Catholic Church are through your own studies and not that of educated people, which they have passed on to you?

Matthew 15

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. 3But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

In that verse the "Honour thy Father and Mother" Commandment is used.

Do you think that the behaviour of the catholic church somewhat resembles that behaviour?

The new pope took flowers to a statue of Mary...... is that a Commandment of God or a tradition of man?

lol you don't understand the position of the Church on ANY of the points you raise, nor have you taken the time to try to understand why these 1.2 billion people have so much faith in the things you talk about. Yet, you question them still. God gave you a brain and eyes, combine them and research. You will see.

One more thing, PS and big boy rambo lol, lets just say that the Catholic Church was the anti-christ. Do you really think that attacking Her by angering her members is the way to save or convert them? Do you REALLY think that talking with such spite and bitterness is the way Christ wanted you to do things? Whose the "real christian"? Think about it fellas.

And Carey, you're right! The gospel in the Holy Bible IS the only gospel that should be preached, and IS the only gospel preached by the Catholic Church. But there's alot to our faith that comes ALSO from tradition and "private revelations". So many of you think its all black and white lol. A Bible-only approach, when applied logically, runs into immediate problems. For example, can a Bible held in the hand of any Christian answer the following questions:
"How do I know that my Bible was correctly translated?"
"Does my bible have the correct number of books in both the old and new Testaments?"
"Is the interpretation of this or that verse the correct one?"

This is just the beginning of the dramas you face if you go on the Bible alone, Carey. I'm not saying by any means that the Holy Bible isn't important. But It can't be the sole rule of faith. Doesn't make sense. For goodness' sake, how many translations of it are there now?
Only the original translation is inerrant, there are many translation errors, and mostly pointing oone to work in the energy of their own flesh. Scripture manya times getsone tothink well now Loed I see and believe now watch my smoke?
When in actuality we are to be vessells like Mary, and her Job was bearing Jesus, John the baptists job was to baptize Jesus, the disciples Job was tospread the gospel but when the Israelites kept on being stubborn the Gospel came to us the Gentiles and anyone that will rsvp to go to the dinner feast. This is belief, noit a religion thefirst chosen became a religion my way and were stiff necked and are a lot today butno differant that the other denominations,
7seven7 you are loved and it is by God the almighty the Father of Jesus Christ, and so is the whole world loved. Thid was prooven by Christ going to the death for and freeing mankind actually his elect the Israelites from the Law of Moses that they were put under, having to sacrifice year after year shedding blood of an innocent animal
Hebrews 10 is a good enlightening chapter explaining this. But this is what it is today, we all are free toworship where we decide to worship and since God recieves the believer then God is able tostraighten out any errors in anyones truth that they dillgently hold onto.
Now does everyone here believe that TRUTH SETS ONE FREE.
If you do believe this scripture and anyone of you here posting against one another about where they worship, making judgemental remarks truth or not about that denomination, puts you the one (s) doing this in bondage.
Because if one is in bondage then their truth is in error, but youall decide. This brother of Christ has been put on the defensive, andallyouare all doing is convincing him andmaking him stubborn as to worship only by and through the catholic church, when their is no religion worthy of serving God and no self worthy of serving God. God is God and will not be mocked, but humans are mocking God all over this world and dividing divisions as Paul warned against to the Corinthians 1 Cor 3, and in 1 cor13 the Love chapter they finally saw the kind of Love that God has and has passed out to us human beings, and that just being mere human could not cut this type of Love no matter how hard they tried thay could not perform this type of love. So they had a Godly sorrow and God made them anew because now they knew they could not do it and understood now why Christ went to the cross to take away the sin of the world in his Father's sight so that by this Christ made them perfect no sin in the believer because of Christ all sin gone so that they can see God the Father and thank God the Father and Christ the Son, beinmg nowof the Spirit of God and actually received the Love of God spread about oin their hearts the love of 1 cor 13
love you all discuss not accuse each other we all have free choice and my choice is to love as God Loves me
Thanks
