Stupid words we say or pick up

I just text messaged a friend of mine the word "totes" in place of totally. Sigh. When did I get all slangish? Why would I use the word totes?

Do any of y'all use stupid words?
 
Cool beans. I use to say that a lot, until I got tired of hearing myself say it. Arwen! Just say 'sounds good', 'alright' or 'OK', you crazy hipster.
 
i like awk instead of awkward.
though this list is not intended to be everything, my manner of speech is impacted by the following factors (In no particular order):
laziness in typing.
living around 4 or more distinctly different kinds of rednecks throughout the years
being the token white boy at gang parties in high school
extensive travel
being bookish from an early age
being over-educated
understanding such foreign languages as Medical, Legalese, KJV, and Bakermouth (a special redneck dialect only achieved when you gots yer backer in yer mouth.)
 
I tend to over-use puns in my conversations and then get annoyed at the news for doing it. :)

LOL...ummm...*raises hand slowly* I ,use "totes" sometimes...lol sometimes even "TotesMcgoats". I say "peeps" a lot instead of "people" ...I call everyone "dude,man,or bro"....waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. & instead of swearing I say stupid stuff like "Oh My Glob!!!!",or "Sweet & Sour Chicken!!!!" I'd say I tend to have the vocabulary of a 4th grader most of the time.

Guilty of "cool beans" too. sigh...Lord help me. :rolleyes:
 
Fun fact of the day- Origin of 'Cool Beans' - Originated in America during the late 1960s. Hits of acid, ludes, and ecstacy were dubbed "cool beans" for their bean-like shape. The slang term was popularized by pop-culture as an expression to mean mildly pleasing and another word for 'sounds good' or 'cool'

LOL...that's crazy. I would have never even thought to look it up...I figured it was just some slang made-up nonsense like something a surfer would say. TY for sharing. Maybe you should start a "Fun Fact 'O The Day by Arwen" corner. lol

I'm going to have to giggle every time I hear cool beans from now on "hehe, drug reference."

I used chillax on my own for quite a few years...then it started popping up in movies...I still use it though because it sounds wicked. I also say "for reals" a lot, I think it's my inner gangster trying to get out.

Actually, the more you know the more you realize that you don't know what you once thought you did know. :)


I use probly (and sometimes prolly) instead of probably. A co-worker of mine says 'holy crap batman', and i've picked up on that...
 
I was telling someone about something my best friend did, and I said...

"Bestie".

And it was so very painful.
