I think worrying about hair length, male or female, is legalism. I also think hair length can be influenced by cultural or peer pressure. I like my hair long, and I have been persuaded an older woman looks better with short hair.

I tried it and it wasn't me. So growing it out again.

As far as the Scripture, which really wasn't posted except in passing, I think we have to keep Greek culture in mind when we read it. There were traditions for married women, and for men. Paul just wanted the people, who were very pagan, in the most corrupt town in the world to behave and be an example for the people coming into the church, and those on the outside.

To "Corinthinanize"meant to be engrossed in a lewd and sexually immoral lifestyle. The number of sailors and prostitutes in in Corinth was greater than any other city. So Paul needed to set the young church straight. The rest of 1 Cor. 11 concerns taking the Lord's Supper and examining oneself. I think that is why Paul started with hair and hair covering, moving on to what was really important. It was all about examining your own heart, and confessing sin.

And that is relevant in any age or culture!

We need to read the letters written to the churches in the NT with understanding of the problems of those churches for an understanding of the letters to those churches. At the church where men were not to have long hair it was looked down on for men to have long hair, very like for awhile in America long hair was a symbol of lawlessness. Now, I know of a wonderful Christian gospel singer with long hair and just seeing him on TV long hair and all, you know he isn't lawless.

God looks at the heart, it is true, but I don't think we can disregard what we do. If a person has in his heart that they are not proud of how God made them, don't respect themselves or others, their appearance will show it. If they feel they have to add a lot of primping to how God made them, it will show it in their appearance, too. God has never said He doesn't care at all what you do, it is only what you think. He instructs us in both. God wants us to be proud of how He created us, to make the most of it so we look our best, and not to overdo it with presenting clothes or makeup rather than who we are.

I have long hair and a beard. I wont cut ether. quite honestly I can't stand myself with short hair.

I seriously look like I fell off the show duck dynasty.

As for women, I have no idea why a woman would want short hair.

I'm not attracted to girls with hair THAT short but I don't think it's sinful for them.

Why a woman might want short hair? Because if she is a mom, especially a mom of several young children, she is very busy. Her attention is supposed to be on her children and short hair is much easier to take care of. She spends less time getting herself presentable and more time taking care of her kids.

Plus, some women look better with short hair.

That's subjective. I don't care for short hair on women. Though every once in a while i will see one that looks ok, i've yet to see one that looks better with short hair.

I haven't cut my hair since 97. It's uncut hair us pentecostals do, not the "long" hair. some people can't grow "long" hair. But the uncut hair.... that's the ticket.... and it is very easy to care for. shower, whip it into a style with gel and spray or clip it, what ever. but it's easy. I have naturally curly fuzzy hair. not a problem.

I'm a mom of 2 young kiddos...I keep my hair long. Granted, it's usually pulled up in this really hideous knot on top of my head...

Er...why is this even a topic?

Emma Watson (Hermione of Harry Potter fame) looks good with pixie hair. One of the few women I've seen that really can get away with the short hair look.

I disagree, Pretty hot with the long hair.. but to be when she cut it all off she might as well added in ink up and down her arms and about 20 pieces of metal hanging out of her face.

Wow. Rough. I'm not saying that she looks better with short hair, I'm saying she looks good with pixie hair. That's your opinion and you can keep it.

I've never heard of Pentecostals not being allowed to cut their hair, interesting.
