fair enough.
this would be the birth from above by the Spirit of God?
regeneration as some call it?
since the Bible teaches without it no one has faith. and without faith it is impossible to please God.
that all our righteousness without the new birth is as filthy rags.
certainly unregenerate people (most people) can live 'relatively' moral lives (from man's perspective).
but i understand you to be referring to one portion or version of 'salvation' - being saved from the old nature (children of wrath).
okay. but allmen will die in this mortal body.
so you mean salvation in the eternal sense, correct?
not dying?
"God says that he has accursed all man in disobedience to have mercy on all. So that none can boast above another etc come the day."
is the above a confirmation that you believe
all men will eventually enter the eternal Glory of God?
none will suffer eternal separation from Him?
was the old Jewish gentleman a Christian?
was he teaching you what Jesus taught, and was he enabled by the Spirit of God (new birth) to teach you what Jesus taught - with understanding?
because Judaism teaches a form of reincarnation.
alright. when anyone dies
their flesh body goes to the grave. we all know that.
i was wondering about eternal separation from God for those whose sins were not blotted out by the Substitutionary Atonement of Jesus Christ, imputed to them by Grace through faith.
i know the Jewish man taught you this...and/or that this is your belief.
but all men's
bodies go to the grave.
are you saying their soul "sleeps" until the resurrection?
or that the grave is where their soul 'rests' (consciously) until the resurrection of the body?
when a man's body is laid in the grave, it is clearly dead. i agree.
are we talking about the parable of the rich man and Lazarus?
okay. the resurrection. into immortal bodies.
some to everlasting life and some to everlasting shame....i believe the bible teaches this.
doesn't it?
Emmanuel's perfect life and bitter sufferings had to have a very good and critically important reason for being ordained, yes?
so something about what happens to us concerning God and eternity is extremely serious.
actually, Jesus said those who receive His free gift by faith
are not judged.
there are multiple Books.
one is
the Book of Life - for those whose sins are blotted out - who have been raised already to everlasting life, and then there are
other Books...out of which the rest of the 'dead' are judged - each according to his works.
um...the Holy Spirit, the preaching of the Word reveals the hidden purposes of the heart (God already knows). the Word and the Law & Gospel is the two-edged sword which is intended to pierce, cut wound and heal....according to the hidden things of the heart.
the heart is deciet and wicked beyond cure.
that's why no one will enter the Kingdom of God without being born from above - the new birth, which happens in this life - through the gift of faith...wrought in us by the preaching of the gift of the Gospel, as we hear the bad news of our fate was children of wrath who have offended God and are condemned....and/but/though then hear the Good News of the gift of our salvation from God's wrath, wroguht for us through the Work of Jesus Christ on our behalf.
the heart is circumcised by The Spirit, who is God, who dwells in the one who was called and changed and is set apart and sealed. and is groomed to conform to the image of Jesus Christ. and who will be delivered Home to God without spot or wrinkle, for this is God's Will....for all who believe.
those who do not believe are condemned already.
alright. but when Paul said 'I will be known just as I am fully known', he wasn't referring to a day when he would be judged according to his works. Paul made it plain we are saved by Grace through faith and the good works God desires us to walk in we will do. because we are new creatures, who do what they were created to do. some 10, some 30, some 100.
when Paul said 'I will be known just as I am fully known' - the context was partial understanding, partial knowledge, partial abilities - he was using an illustration of trying to understand ones real self (or rather life eternal) by looking into a brushed piece of metal used as a mirror which reflects back a distorted view of Paul. the context was not trying to plumb the depths of mysteries or secret counsels of God which He has reserved only for Himself, but rather to obey and act in peace and faith
according to what we have been given.....and to remember that:
1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him..."
okay...fair enough
so basically your beliefs are those of mystical Judaism:
EDEN, GARDEN OF
The Rabbis make a distinction between Gan and Eden. Samuel bar Naḥman says that Adam dwelt only in the Gan. As to Eden—"No mortal eye ever witnesseth, O God, beside thee" (Isa. lxiv. 4, Hebr.; Ber. 34b).
Earthly and Heavenly Gan Eden.
The boundary line between the natural and supernatural Gan Eden is hardly perceptible in Talmudic literature. In fact, "Gan Eden and heaven were created by one Word [of God], and the chambers of the Gan Eden are constructed as those of heaven, and as heaven is lined with rows of stars, so Gan Eden is lined with rows of the righteous, who shine like the stars" (Aggadat Shir ha-Shirim, pp. 13, 55). The leviathan disturbs the waters of the seas, and would have destroyed the life of all human beings by the bad breath of his mouth, but for the fact that he occasionally puts his head through the opening of Gan Eden, the spicy odor issuing from which acts as an antiseptic to his bad smell (B.B.75a). Ḥiyya bar Ḥanina says that God had prepared for Adam ten canopies of various precious stones in Gan Eden, and quotes Ezek. xxviii. 13 (B. B. 75a). This, according to the Midrash, relates to the celestial Gan Eden. The Zohar claims for everything on earth a prototype above (Yitro 82a). Naḥmanides also says that the narrative of Eden in Genesis has a double meaning, that besides the earthly Gan Eden and the four rivers there are their prototypes in heaven (Commentary to Gen. iv. 13)

that's fine.
to each their own...i'm just trying to find out what you believe, and from whence came your beliefs.
the New earth is not a renewed earth, it is actually a brand new, fresh earth.
not Eden restored.
it is a new creation.
and it is real and physical, not merely an 'enlightened state'.
Matthew 25:41
"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed,
into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
okay.
did the Jewish man tell you the reincarnation they teach in mystical Judaism is for jews only?
this variation says the soul must keep choosing to come back to be more and more perfected.
if you are a gentile, you won't be purged for purity.
you'll boil in hot excrement in hell.
according to some versions.
other versions say, and i don't know what the old Jewish gentleman who taught you actually believed, that all israel (jewry as a collective) IS GOD incarnate. but that certain things have to happen before God is made whole, on earth.
one of those things is called Tikkun Olam - the divine sparks within the jews enable them to repair the world - since it's in such terrible condition due to the children of israel losing most of their divinity at the golden calf incident...and those sparks which were scattered as a result (and landed on and in gentiles) must be recovered before all will be well.
does that make sense? no?
in any case.....
God is a consuming fire.
God's Word has the power to save men's souls, for all scripture is God breathed.
the Gospel is the power of salvation to all who believe.
this is for
today...
this day...this life.
today is the day of salvation.
because without Holiness, no one will see God.
and it's not our personal holiness (apart from Christ) that will stand in His Presence.
it is the Righteousness of Christ which is our covering, and is the only Righteousness God is pleased with.
He gives it to us...
as a gift. just like he gave Adam bloody animals skins to cover his sin and nakedness.
but the Second Adam is not like the First Adam

He was made to be sin though he knew none. for us.
that we may be made the Righteousness of God.
we are not justified by anything we have done.
you know that right?
it's not how "good" we are that saves us.
oh....well there's nothing like this recorded in the Bible, but i understand some people believe this.
reincarnation of varying kinds.
oh....clearly the old Jewish man didn't understand then.
the Temple Jesus spoke of was HIS body.
which they did do - they killed Him and 3 days later he rose from the grave.
it was prophesied to happen. He was raised in His body to prove God had accepted His sacrifice for sin.
and we who are buried with Him are also raised with Him in His Resurrection - this is the First Resurrection.
the new birth.
this is when the new heart/mind is received - it's a gift...from God.
he creates it. He does the Work.
i don't know what religion this is.....
um....
He proclaimed His victory to the spirits in chains.
it doesn't say He preached the Gospel to anyone.
it doesn't say anywhere anyone "got a second chance".
so all men will ultimately enter eternal Glory with God?
k...thank you
right.
thanks very much. i hope it's okay to have taken the opportunity to express what i believe, as well.
