I think that the "warm fuzzies" can come and go. There will be days when I'll look at my husband and say to myself, "I married you why?" And then there will be times I'll look at him and remember the first time I realized I loved him. Because of the tides of chemicals in the brain come and go, I'm not fooled into thinking I will always be "in love" the exact way each and every day. But I am convinced that my choice to love is mine and mine alone. If we fall out of love, it's by choice. Nothing more, nothing less.

I didn't even know you were married. :)

I want to get married but I seriously wonder if I'll ever find someone who truly understands me. I'm not complicated or anything but I want someone who loves to have deep, interesting conversations about science and nature and society and things like that and someone who is good at figuring things out in her mind and feels comfortable relating on a deep emotional level. Yea, I know.. good luck with that. :p

Sooooo, by that logic, if you are in a long-term relationship with someone, say, 5 years.... and the "warm fuzzies" have lasted through all those 5 years, does that mean that if you were married to that person for 6 months after that then the lovey feelings would mysteriously go away after that because you are now married? Or did your long relationship prove that you two are compatible for the long run without a huge amount of work?

Hypothetical everyone :) don't worry.

Edit: I am also aware that this question is probably making me look like a naive teenager. Sorry if it's annoying and making experienced people roll their eyes at me.

I wonder about that, too. Not for you, zero, but for myself. :P

I agree that marriage isn't all about gushy, lovey-dovey feelings. I know that marriage will require work, but I don't think a marriage should always be hard work. That doesn't sound very functional. It's a huge commitment. Like DuchessAimee said, I know there will be days when I question the judgement I had when I married them, but for the most part, I hope my marriage is effortless and lovely in showing the love of Christ. :)

I am sure I mentioned this already on CC before (I need to come up with new info....haha), but I was listening to a radio program that was interviewing married seniors nearing the end of their life and asked them about what they felt was the key to a last marriage. A lot of them said that, you need to learn how to love your partner again. Because you might fall out of love, the warm fuzzy feeling will go away. You might love them but not be in love with them. To try new things together, shake things up. Have a healthy sex life. Keep excitement alive.

I figure myself. honestly the way I am. it would be kinda easy for me. im a simple person so if someone never gave me a reason to leave I wouldn't leave.

If this was geared towards what i said (since you didn't specify who you were referring to, i'm not sure) this chemical averages 6 months total. Has nothing to do with marriage. From the beginning or desire to date til the average of 6 months. Its not a measure of genuine feelings. Its not true love.

I was referring to the OP mostly, but I saw your post too and this does help clear things up a little, so thanks.

My opinion for solution to this problem is being a God fearing family. Then we may not need to put an effort for building a family. No matter how we try, families can fall apart. The real effort is in living a spiritual life.
Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain Ps 127:1
