thread derailment by gun laws, sorry!
The random crazies are not considered part of the statistic as they are always a problem but that guy would have had a much more difficult time carrying out a shooting if the gun laws were different.
Anyhow not my point, My point is that someone who only intends to threaten you with their gun but doesn't mean to use it is far more likely to shoot you if you have a gun. The one over here is knives, you are more likely to be stabbed if you are carrying a knife.
The figures are around the same for both and at the moment it stands that you are 4.5 times more likely to be shot if you carry a gun and 4.2 times more likely to die than if you are not carrying a firearm.

Oooh, buses probably are the best place to be creeped at. I rode a Greyhound bus from here to NC when I was 17, then back here, then back, then home again...over the course of 5 months. ....

The problem I see with this is that you might be tempted to use it for much more than confidence, and the person you are telling to leave you alone may also have a weapon and no qualms about using it. You are far less likely to get shot without a gun.
Because Greyhound from NC to anywhere does take about 5 months...
That's a truly horrible story. I'm glad you woke up before the extent of his intent came to fruition.
Be it a gun, knife, tazer, mace, or "fists of fury"... Never carry a weapon that you don't know how to use well, never draw a weapon without the intent to use it, & never use a weapon unless the outcome of successfully using the weapon is superior to the outcome of not using it (eg, you have to explain to the homicide detective that it was in fact self defense or the defense of another is superior to an innocent person being the victim.)
Alright, Keychain Check! How many peeps have mace?
How many of you known how to use it?
(These are rehtorical questions that I would rather you ask yourself and, if necessary, amend the answer to the second one.)

I've lived in some pretty bad areas many times in my life. I don't know where you people are living that everyone needs a gun,but man,all I can say is I'm glad I'm not living near you. LOLMy father-in-law gave me mace a few years back when I was having to walk to and from work at night. The mace replaced the only "weapon" I could find around the house at the time, which was a small pair of very sharp scissors.
This was pre-gun purchase.
I dunno what I was going to accomplish with the scissors, but I figured anyone who got close enough for me to use them was going to lose at least one eye.

Plus,it's only a matter of time till Ugly gets me banned for exposing my 30 year love affair with Debbie Gibson. *shakes fist @ Ugly..I knew I couldn't trust him with issues of the heart* loliTOREtheSKY cn haz derailment on my threadzes.
not that many of them stick around.

Oh,no I get it...I'm sure I'd feel the same if I were a woman alone too...heck there's been times I've thought I should go buy a nice chainsaw or bat, just to have by the nightstand in case.lol I'm too lazy & both are expensive. lol Growing up in the 70's the only people who had guns were the Maffia,a few thugs in the neighborhood & hunters. Now everyone has one. I'm not against if people want to own one,I guess I just find it a bit pathetic that everyone feels like they NEED one to feel safe. It's sad. Oh & btw Cris...when I called you "dumpling" a bit ago..I meant it in an affectionate way...not that you look like one or saying you look dumpy or fat...fyi! lolI've lived in a couple different big cities, and yeah, I wish I'd had a gun when I was living in them. Things could have been prevented.
But! I know we sound like we're facing crazy gun-weilding psychos all over the place. Obviously that's not the case. But there are enough stories of crazy things happening to people (yes, even in this quiet corner of my state) that I'm not going to be left defenseless IF something crazy were to happen to ME. I will protect my home and family (in the event my husband is unable or not here) if I ever have to.
That's all![]()
SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN! I've become the very thing I loathe. Look away..I'm hideous.Haha I just figured you were being a creepy creeper, calling me names![]()
