I am fairly new here but I have been meeting some very interesting people here. It has been enjoyable learning pieces of interesting information about people from one thread to another. I thought it would be cool to have a thread to share some things that others might find interesting to know about you.

Please use discretion as to what you do decide to share. I don't recommend sharing any information that is too personal that could be maliciously used against you. Exercise wisdom and discretion. I hope to learn some new things about some of you, especially those that I have already had some interaction with. Of course it is always great to meet new people too.

Here's one thing about me that I haven't disclosed here that I think some of you might find interesting...

Bought one of the best houses in one of the worst areas of my city. Have been involved in neighborhood development for a number of years now and have watched the community transform. Here is a picture of the mural that I was able to get painted by a local artist on one of the buildings nearby...
The Stockyards Mural Butterfly.jpg

I have assisted in the capture of over half a dozen criminals involved in burglary and theft in the neighborhood which led to the formation of a neighborhood watch. Many of the residents that were afraid or felt there was no hope joined up after seeing me run around the neighborhood with my 20 gauge and a German Shepherd chasing down thieves. Some of them gave me the nickname, "The Neighborhood Ninja". LOL I am not a cop but the cops here all know me well and have been very supportive and helpful. Within the past two months I was able to join up with them for about 4-6 hours trying to get a warrant to search a local store acting as a fence. I provided proof that they were selling stolen goods but unfortunately we were not able to get the warrant because we couldn't prove that they KNEW the items were stolen. It was still a very exciting experience.

There is now a community garden in the lot of the mural and multiple home churches have sprung up everywhere in the area.

It has been an amazing experience and I am now in the process of selling my home and seeking God as to where He wants me to go next (probably sometime in 2014).
Understand that I have had a lot of struggles these past 6 1/2 years. Despite my failures, it has been very encouraging to see God's providence in my life.

I drive stick.
figured if I'm buying a lil' Honda Fit, it might as well be fun and got the manual transmission. people marvel at my ability to maintain conversation and shift through a turn... thought it has gotten easier with a Bluetooth.

Interesting?

Well I'm a paradox, if you like what is on the outside or the surface, what is on the inside is going to annoy you.

If you like the inside, you won't tolerate the outside.

Who am I to say what someone will find interesting about me and what they won't? Nonetheless, I think I'm a relatively interesting person to talk to. I do not open up easily though. I'm willing to share my opinion, but parts of me are on reserve for certain people.

But if I let you touch my feet, that's a big deal. I'm highly ticklish.

Most people don't like what I have to say, or the questions I ask, or how I word something. So if I get into a conversation or open up to you, that's a big deal too.

I can bake and cook better than the average chick.

I like the dichotomy of black and white.

I have geeky stickers on my laptop.

I hate sleeping in socks.

And I have too many thoughts.

I honestly don't find myself all that interesting. As far as the stuff I'm into...there's prob 200 dudes on CC that are into the same stuff as me that can do it better or know more about it.
Like Duchess,"Most people don't like what I have to say, or the questions I ask, or how I word something. So if I get into a conversation or open up to you, that's a big deal too."...I feel the same.

Well, I think you are interesting yo (sorry, bit of Cleveland coming out. lol). I can relate to you on the music thing. A lot of people would never guess that I once had hair down past the middle of my back and used to head bang with the best while blasting my electric guitar with as much distortion as I could pull off. lol

I like seeing your posts and what you have to say. Somehow you seem to remind me where I have come from and the journey that it took to get where I am. I think you offer that to a lot of others too. We have all come a long way through Christ and it sometimes seems too easy to forget that. You have a humility that I admire.

Great thread, Markum! :)

Some people probably know this about me already but:

1. I am adopted and have spent my entire life in the USA. I've had several people here on CC contact me because they want a "native" to talk to them about the Korean culture and language... I'm sorry I can't be of help! :)

2. I was found in a cardboard box in front of a theater in Seoul, Korea, when I was a few days old--hence my username. Someone once said, "Moses was found in a basket, and you were found in a box!" God really doesn't change!!

3. I visited my original orphanage as an adult--and wanted to take all the kids there home with me. There is no information about my background. I very much consider my family now to be my "REAL" family.

4. During my time of singledom, one of the volunteer projects I truly enjoyed was going to 5 maximum security prisons to talk to the inmates. Was it frightening sometimes? Yes! But, it was also one of the most interesting and valuable things I've ever done.

5. My Grandpa is a WWII veteran and I went with him to the WWII Memorial a few years ago. I try to make it a point to thank every veteran I meet, no matter which conflict they served in (I have an especially tender heart for Vietnam vets, seeing as they faced so much protest when they returned home.)

I went to visit a group home for Vietnam vets a few years ago and at first, I was scared (wondering if they'd be upset that an Asian was in their space... old feelings sometimes cross lines and die very hard), but they were very open and welcoming. I was heartbroken to learn that one of the residents I met later took his own life.

It makes me pray all the more for our service people and their families (this includes public service workers as well). Many thanks to all of you out there who have served, are serving, or are part of a military family... Much love and respect!!!

PFFFFTTTT!!! Whatever, MissCris. You always have something meaningful to say--your posts make me think and laugh simultaneously! (Sometimes you send my brain into a traffic jam because I want to laugh, cry, and hug you all at the same time.)

I totally agree, Powemm.

If anyone wants to see my superpowers, just invite me to a buffet/potluck/dinner party.

I can clear out an entire table by myself. :) And, if it was really good, I'll even offer to do the dishes.
