(These are two of my posts pasted from another thread. I thought this should have it's own thread, as I want to hear thoughts on this)

Why is it that some believe Zech 12:10 to be fulfilled already?

As I understand it, Zech 12:10 is the precondition of Christ's second coming.

There will be no second coming until Israel's plea and confession that they rejected Jesus as their Messiah. He will not return until they look to the one they pierced, and cry out for Him to return, mourning for Him.

Matthew 23:37-39: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ "

Hosea 5:15: "I will go and return to My place Till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”

Clearly, Zech 12:10 has not yet been fulfilled.

Before there can be a cleansing of Israel's sins, and before there can be a Second Coming, Israel must first look to the one they have pierced and mourn for Him as a person that mourns for their only son. As I quoted in Matthew 23, before Jesus will come back, Israel must plead for Him to return, with the words "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord" (the confession first and then the plea for His return). They don't see Him until these two things happen.

Just like the Jewish leaders once led all to reject Jesus, the Messiah, the leaders will some day lead many Jews to the acceptance of Jesus.

Hosea 6:1-3: Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight. Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth"

From what I have studied, it will be in the last 3 days of the tribulation.

Jesus returns at the request of the Jews. Scripture says this will happen in the future.

It is for this purpose God has sent me unto you. That for 3 days and 3 nights our Lord lay in the heart of the earth as in the days of Jonah.

Right now mankind has the technology and resources to house, feed and clothe everyone. That every family truly be together and to rest from labor. But we are a stubborn people, and my message will again fall on deaf ears.

But if I have the heart of Jonah, knowing that I MUST preach this word unto you, then surely there are more that feel the same. We must not be afraid!

When will we listen?
LOL that's just it, mankind will never listen. We are stubborn and like to do things our way. But blessed are those who submit to the ways of the lord, the kingdom is at hand and we hold the key. So wehen will mankind listen? Only when it is too late

Who is that “One whom they pierced through” and to whom “they will certainly look”? Cutting through the entanglement of human guesses, we go direct to the inspired answer furnished by the One who made this prophetic “pronouncement.” From the record written down by the Galilean John, who was an eyewitness of the impalement of Jesus Christ between two impaled evildoers on Friday, Nisan 14, 33 C.E.-John 19:31-37.

is also another connecting of this Jesus Christ with the ‘piercing through’ that the same apostle John wrote.-Revelation 1:5-7.

Thus the piercing of Jesus’ side occurred sometime after he had expired, not before.-Luke 23:44-49; Mark 15:33-41.

The pierced side of Jesus Christ was also an important item that entered into the proof that Jesus was later raised from the dead. The apostle Thomas, who did not get to see Jesus on the day of his resurrection (Sunday, Nisan 16, 33 C.E.), said to those who had seen him materialized in the flesh that day: “Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails and stick my finger into the print of the nails and stick my hand into his side, I will certainly not believe.” A week later, Jesus again materialized in flesh, in a body like that of his impalement, and said to Thomas: “Take your hand and stick it into my side, and stop being unbelieving but become believing.”-John 20:24-27.

In fulfillment of Zechariah 12:10-14, the faithful apostles and other disciples of Jesus Christ must have wailed and lamented, there at earthly Jerusalem. Their lamenting was over the death of the “only-begotten Son” of God, “the firstborn of all creation,” “the beginning of the creation by God.” (John 3:16; Colossians 1:15; Revelation 3:14) So the lamenting over him was of greater seriousness than the previous “wailing of Hadadrimmon in the valley plain of Megiddo.” (Zechariah 12:11; compare 2 Kings 23:28-30; 2 Chronicles 35:20-25.) Jehovah did pour out upon those faithful disciples the “spirit of favor and entreaties.” Especially so, since those disciples “were hoping that this man was the one destined to deliver Israel.”-Luke 24:21

maybe bigger and in a bright color would help.

maybe somea your flashing lights, still.

it actually says clearly...those things, the things listed there in that passage about the First Advent happened....so that....

the Scripture would be fulfilled

yep...that's what it says.
so i'm wondering out loud why anyone would ask...how can anyone say this has been fulfilled.
because it actually does say right there in b&w fulfilled.

doesn't it?

well, read about what happened when the few returned from captivity to rebuild the wall - troublous times.

crossnote..look at the NEXT chapter:

Zechariah 13
1In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
2And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
3And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
4And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:
5But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.
6And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
7Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

Mark 14:27
27
And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

Hi Zone,
However you want to take ''in that day''... Zech12:8-9 doesn't appear to have been fulfilled.
Zechariah 12:8-9 fulfilled.

Chronology first.
Zech written around 520-518 BC
Nehemiah written around 445-430 BC
Ezra 7-9 written around 458 BC

Zech 12
[SUP]8 [/SUP]In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of theLord before them. [SUP]9 [/SUP]It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Let's break it down.
1. Lord will defend inhabitants of Jerusalem. Verse 8
2. Feeble will become like David, and house of David like God. Verse 8
3. Seek to destroy nations that come against Jerusalem. Verse 9

The condition of Jerusalem/Judah in beginning of Nehemiah
1.Exiles in great trouble/distress. Nehemiah 1:3
2.Jeursalem without walls. Nehemiah 1:3
3.Jeruslaem in trouble, ruined, without gates. Nehemiah 2:17

They clearly need protection and intervention by God.
Not only because of that, but because of more.

1.Arabs, Ammonites, Ashdodites, Tobiah, and Sanballat were furious and plotted against Jerusalem to attack it. Nehemiah 4:7-8
2.Enemies threatened Jerusalem and rebuilding of the wall. Nehemiah 4:11
3.Whereever the Jews turned the enemies were upon them. Nehemiah 4:12

So that's the condition and threat.
That's where Zech 12:8-10 come in.

1. Lord will defend inhabitants of Jerusalem. Verse 8

A. God frustrated their attack Nehemiah 4:15
[SUP]15 [/SUP]When our enemies heard that we knew their scheme and that God had frustrated it, every one of us returned to his own work on the wall. [SUP]16 [/SUP]From that day on, half of my men did the work while the other half held spears, shields, bows, and armor. The officers supported all the people of Judah,

B. God described as fighting for them. Nehemiah 4:20
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Wherever you hear the trumpet sound, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us!

C. Surrounding nations intimidated and lost confidence. Everyone saw this as an accomplishment of God. Nehemiah 6:16
[SUP]16 [/SUP]When all our enemies heard this, all the surrounding nations were intimidated and lost their confidence,[SUP][f][/SUP] for they realized that this task had been accomplished by our God.

2. Feeble will become like David, and house of David like God. Verse 8

A. Those once living in distress now played the instruments of King David. Nehemiah 12:36
as well as his relatives—Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David, the man of God.

B. Inhabitants of Jerusalem no longer in distress, now their rejoicing heard by those far away. Nehemiah 12:43
[SUP]43 [/SUP]On that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced because God had given them great joy. The women and children also celebrated, and Jerusalem’s rejoicing was heard far away.

3. Seek to destroy nations that come against Jerusalem. Verse 9

A. King Artaxerxes through the influence of God, granted Ezra the power to give extreme punishment to anyone who opposed God.

Ezra 7 [SUP]25 [/SUP]And you, Ezra, according to[SUP][h][/SUP] God’s wisdom that you possess, appoint magistrates and judges to judge all the people in the region west of the Euphrates who know the laws of your God and to teach anyone who does not know them. [SUP]26 [/SUP]Anyone who does not keep the law of your God and the law of the king, let a fair judgment be executed against him, whether death, banishment, confiscation of property, or imprisonment.

[SUP]27 [/SUP]Praise Yahweh the God of our fathers, who has put it into the king’s mind to glorify the house of the Lord in Jerusalem,

Im just wondering then, with all the talk about the ressurection already happening?
Why did Peter say this in Timothy 2:16- 19

2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hy-me-nae'us and Phi-le'tus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying the ressurection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from their iniquity.

God bless

You wrote the above, but ignored what it says..... "...pour out a spirit of grace on the House of David" - the House of David can only be Israel and this is talking about when the Jews get saved in the last days, which clearly hasn't happened yet, as the nation is still blinded and do not look to the One they pierced. It's through much tribulation that they will make a confession of their sins and rejection of Him, then mourn for Him.

Yes, Jesus was pierced. I agree that this was fulfilled in the past, as it is in reference to Jesus who died and was pierced. We agree on that. However, that next part of Zech is not yet fulfilled because Israel are not yet saved, they are still blinded. They are not mourning for Him like their only son and they do not look to the One they pierced. One day they will say "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord". This will happen in the last 3 days of the tribulation.

Jesus being pierced was fulfilled already. When did I deny this? He is identified as "the one whom they pierced". The Zechariah scripture goes on to mention future prophecy concerning the last days, when the Jews will get saved. This hasn't happened yet.

We will run into problems if we choose our (eschatology) view as priority over scripture. This is what the cults do and this is what believers can fall into the trap of doing. You're free to continue believing that all prophecies were fulfilled in the past, but you're in danger of using and abusing scripture, twisting them to fit with your personal view, because the reality is you will only see what you choose to see, rather than what the scriptures actually say.

I like the point this believer made on another site...... "If we want to study the word of God, we need to have an open mind to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us. A closed mind lets in no light. If the Spirit illuminates a scripture, we need to be willing to display a teachable spirit. When we align ourselves with any particular camp, we are no longer teachable.......that is elementary"

Acts 2

4 Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit

5 There were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. 6 When this sound occurred, a crowd came together and was confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language.

36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah!”

37 When they heard this, they came under deep conviction[m] and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: “Brothers, what must we do?”

41 So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them.

Katy, i like you, and appreciate your posts.
you're just wrong on this stuff. really wrong.
it's Dispensationalists who appear unteachable.
this is a stronghold and it comes from the Synagogue of Satan.
i know you don't want any part of that...so i do implore you to please reconsider.

i know it's what so many have been taught and it just rolls out like a carpet.

but -

it's Dispensationalism, it's actually Dual Covenant when you think it through.

The House of David did refer to Israel.
but Jesus is THE DAVID and Israel is His faithful people.
even if you're a futurist - everyone knows Israel the faithful is the CHURCH.

these passages were fulfilled when Israel's Messiah walked the Land seeking His lost sheep.

they got their King. He came. He saved. those who didn't believe were CUT OFF.

then He returned to the Father and the Holy Spirit came and was POURED OUT: all to Israel FIRST.

then the Gospel went to the gentiles (it was the Eternal Purpose) and those who received it were GRAFTED IN.

that's how it has gone ever since.

there's nothing left undone, no great revival for jews, no loose end land deal, no Plan A restart.

please look this over - it covers your objection to what you thought Still left out (this is just a sampling - the whole NT tells the SAME STORY - Finished!):

........................

Zechariah 12
10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

John 7
37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

the pouring out was Jesus - Grace and truth - and the Spirit - PENTECOST

John 19
33But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

Zechariah 14
8And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

John 4
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

John 4
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Titus 3
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Hebrews 10
19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21And having an high priest over the house of God;
22Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Luke 24
25Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

if you read Ezekiel, he is seeing the very same things:

Ezekiel 47
1Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
2Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.
3And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.
4Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.
5Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.
6And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.
7Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.
8Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.
9And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.
10And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
11But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.
12And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Mark 1
16Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

John 21
1After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.
2There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
4But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

Zechariah 12
10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications

Spirit poured upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem:

Acts 2
1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

then, after the promise to Israel fulfilled......poured out on the Gentiles: FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES

Acts 10
44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

ALL FULFILLED:

Zechariah 12
10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Luke 23
27And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
