1 Thessalonians 5
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Even a woman that is about to give birth is given warning beforehand. If she knows the signs and "watches" for them; that moment does not catch her unawares.
Who are "they" and "them' written above?
Those that say "Peace and safety" because they do not do as Jesus said to do, "Watch and pray", and so they deny the signs that He said to be watchful of for the day of the Lord.
It is the same as these...
Jeremiah 14
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
And these...
Matthew 24
[SUP]37 [/SUP]But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[SUP]38 [/SUP]For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
[SUP]39 [/SUP]And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
What becomes of "them"?
2 Thessalonians 2
[SUP]11 [/SUP]And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[SUP]12 [/SUP]That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
What is that lie? "Peace and safety."
Be warned that this may come here after...
2 Peter 3
[SUP]2 [/SUP]That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
So this I say to you, brethren...
2 Peter 3
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
