I'm an American and used to teach the Filipino National Martial Art that was implemented into public schools and military training on your islands.
One of my teachers was a very famous Filipino. Professor Remy Presas who revived the history and culture of the Filipino martial arts. He had an appointment from the president to implement the island's unique historical martial art into the public school system and colleges as the official physical fitness program. It is called Modern Arnis. He spread it to the USA and Europe too. He spent times staying with our school, Eastern US and we integrated his art. I taught it and my students did demonstrations at University, churches, and festivals.
