No town was hit so hard by the Titanic tragedy as my home town Southampton, more than a third of the crew came from there. I used to see this memorial to the crew and engineers of SS. Titanic every day on my way to school.
They stayed at their posts and worked to keep the ship alive for as long as possible in order to save lives ... they perished with the ship.
One school more than half the pupils lost a dad.
