When God Became a Man . . .
Before the first Christmas, the world had no clue what God was like – or if there even was a god.
Even though God revealed Himself through His creation and to the Jews He proved that He was good and powerful but that He demanded certain behaviors that would result in them being as good as He was.

This resulted in several hundred laws: “Do this and don’t do that” which they obeyed from time to time. Sometimes out of gratitude for God’s kindness and protection and sometimes out of fear of punishment - and sometimes not at all!
But then came Jesus!
God became a man!
And He didn’t come as a ruler - but as a baby!
And he grew in favor with God and man.
He came to show us what God is really like!
At a certain point in His life, He went throughout Israel doing good things to show that God is good.
He healed the lame, opened the eyes of the blind, restored relationships, and raised the dead to show that God cares and has the ability to restore and heal.
But that wasn’t all.
He died a horrible death and came back to life to show us that God has power over death.
But that isn’t all!
He returned to heaven to sit beside His Father and they sent the Holy Spirit to live in those He chose who would acknowledge Jesus’ holy Lordship and invite Him to control their lives so they would choose to obey His command to love the Lord God with all their heart, mind and soul and love others as themselves.
So we, whom God chose, would become like his Son! [Rom 8:29]
