First, I apologize to those who have thread that are awaiting my reply. I will get to you.

Now, my trouble is this: I am a tactless human being and my friend is dying from liver failure. What do I say or not say?

I have a lot of love for my fellow human beings, but I always say things that are stupid and/or unkind without meaning to. If my friend dies and this is our last meeting, I want to do it right.

Please help me.

Let me say that I am sorry that you are loosing a friend and I understand how one can feel at a loss for words. Sometimes just being there in silence lets them know that you care. You can even be honest and tell them that in this situation you really don't know what to say, but ask if you can pray with them and direct them to Jesus. You did not say if your friend is saved or not. You can pray that they have peace and that Jesus is there with them through what they are going through.

That a lot of times on this earth because it is full of sin life is not always fair to us, but that God loved us so much He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins so that we have a way out and will someday be with Him in heaven.

Just let your friend know that you do care about them and are sorry they have this problem with their liver. Just being there should bring them some comfort.

Dear Father In Heaven please give shrimp the right words to say when she visits her friend and be with her friend through this time. If it is according to Your will please heal her friend if that is not Your will then let this friend not suffer and pass in peace knowing that salvation is available and he can rest in You. I pray in Jesus name amen.

Hello my little sister......I think you underestimate yourself....I have read some of your post....you
have good insite and are always kind and loving with your words........alot of times when people
are ill they look forward to talk about anything else...small talk is the best....giving them a break
from the thing that consumes their thoughts......and alot of times saying nothing is saying enough....
But I believe you are going to find those words once you pray for them.....
You are being a true blessing just by your loving glow and being there.....you got this....

Father God thankyou for being at work in this time of sorrow....giving peace to our brother ...
and our sister.....holding them in Your loving arms...keeping them strong...I thankyou in Jesus,s name....amen
Peace ....jo

Thanks for the kind words and prayers.
I thought I might bring ya'll up to speed.
She is going to be ok for now. Her docs want her to detox her liver, so we're going to ask if the Master Cleanse is ok for her and if it is, we're going to do it together. I hope that we can manage to get her liver to a livable state.
