Just my overall impression of him as a politician. I don't need to get more specific than that. I'm very favorable towards Trump as he tried to do everything he promised to do, which is extremely rare. I don't know either Pence or Trump personally and I don't get as much exposure to news and whatnot (on purpose) as the average person.

I think the answer lies in the fact that Trump has a proven record of not just talking but doing. Pence has only rhetoric.
We've passed the point of talking. Since Reagan, the only Republican President to push back against the left has been Trump.
Pence was put into what I believe was an impossible situation by Trump. And I believe he did what he thought was right. But anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows the last election was stolen. And when people see such rampant injustice, they want people in high positions on their end of the spectrum to do anything and everything in their power to correct it. Many feel Pence could have done more. Whether that's true or not means less to some than an attempt to do something.

You can never completely get rid of that. Utopia is fantasy.
Depending on government to meet needs gives the State power over you, it does not free you. Because, as one politician put it some time ago, the government big enough to give you everything you want, is also big enough to take away everything you have. This dependence can devolve into totalitarianism. And, that is the goal, but more on that later.
It also perpetuates poverty, as our inner cities demonstrate. Leftist policies have been put into place in those zones, and all they have succeeded in doing is keeping people in the same nasty state they were in decades ago. Benjamin Franklin said that he saw both public welfare and the lack thereof in his time, and it was the latter that was far more successful at driving people out of their poverty.
Welfare policies also create an entitled population. They are grateful for nothing. This is never good for a society.
Government taking care of this or that sounds nice, but in practice it is destructive.
Voting Left today is also more than voting for the welfare state. It's voting for communo-fascism. I'll try to briefly make my point, but that will be difficult.
The Left has fostered 1930s-style mob street violence by calling it peacefully protesting for justice. Think Hitler's SA, Antifa in pre-Nazi Germany, Mussolini's Black Shirts or Mao's Red Guard. All have / had the same purpose: intimidate all opposing narratives into silence; create fear and chaos until the people cry out for order and / or submit.
The Left uses crises--real and fabricated--to generate fear in its populations. Fear makes people obey whatever they're told. Global warming and covid have been some such crises in recent years, and both are being used to fuel ever more power grabs.
The Left employs divide and conquer. The communists used class warfare, e.g. Stalin ignited conflicts between richer and poorer land-owners where no conflicts existed prior. In the US, class warfare has not worked. So, they've moved to race, which is a sore spot for us. That sore spot was beginning to heal, until Obama, then Biden, and college campuses, and news media started to fan those flames deliberately again. A population divided against itself is too worried about one another to think about what's happening with those in power. The latter sits and watches. Then, when things become nuts, they offer a solution -- if you just give them enough power, with a promise to relinquish it once peace has been reestablished. Only... those emergency powers are never relinquished, the various crises used to start the whole mess are perpetuated, and the population is permanently collectivized and militarized against the perpetual crisis.
The Left is now outrightly condemning free speech, calling it white supremacist. But, out of their same mouths they labels the Right fascist. Sooo.. what is fascism exactly, if not the elimination of freedom of expression and belief??
The Left is pushing transexualism on our kids by encouraging their gender dysphoria, and also by allowing perverted men to dance sexually in front of minors -- and all with no repercussions. Why would anyone vote for politicians who push this or even just turn a blind eye to it? While some conservative pols have not held the line on this -- and their offices should be up for grabs next election season -- it is being feverishly pushed by the Left. This is ultimately to destroy family norms while distracting the population with hedonism. The former breaks a bulwark against tyranny, while the latter gives the illusion of liberty.
Everything the Left is doing in the West today has its parallels in the last century's totalitarian movements. Fascism comes from the Left, not the Right. That is why you should vote Right. It is not because we are perfect, or because we promise you Utopia... but because conservativism aims to conserve and perpetuate that which is good and has stood the test of time (e.g., political freedom, freedom of belief or speech without being cancelled, etc.). Under conservatives, you will be able to speak and worship freely -- generally speaking (there will always be jerks who'll give you trouble, but I speak for the society as a whole).
Leftists, on the other hand, believe that they have a sacred right to burn your business down or smash your skull with a 2x4 for not getting line with their narrative. Or... to shoot up your school while condemning guns. Or, to storm your state capitol (while simultaneously condemning Jan 6th, 2021). They scream tolerance while violently attacking all dissent. This started with James Hodgkinson in 2017 and has only escalated since.
