BERRY TRUE SHIRLEY. OUR BODY IS A TEMPLE. THERE WAS A GIRL WHO GOT HER TONGUE PIERCED AND AN INFECTION WITH IT, THAT SPREAD TO HER BRAIN, AND LEFT HER WITH DAMAGE, I THINK SHE HAD TO HAVE SURGERY. THERE IS ALWAYS A RISK OF INFECTION. IN THE OLD TESTAMENT, GOD SAID THAT " THE AMALIKITES WERE HIS ENEMIES BECAUSE THEY WORE EARRINGS IN THEIR EARS. THE MEN DID.
I do not believe piercings are bad..Man looks at the outside, but God judges the heart
1 Samuel 16:7
New International Version (NIV)
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
I have myself some body modification..not much..piercings now. Ink yes. I would have probably gotten more at a younger age had my mother not stopped me. I am glad she did. But I mean, you can have someone who looks right, is clean cut, tattoo and piercing free and on the inside, they're corrupt, proud, sinfull..arrogant..unloving. And many the girl with the nose ring and purple hair and 3 tattoos actually is sweet, loving, doesn't judge others..a good listener..forgiving..longsuffering.
Appearances can deceive. I also believe in my honest opinion one can get a bit too legalistic regarding some scriptures. I feel if you are convicted about something then by all means, follow your convictions. I met a guy the other day with several forearm tattoos who i know has a relationship with God, is actually a former missionary to the middle east! That said, yeah, you gotta follow your convictions. But we should be like God..look at the heart, not the outside superficiality of someone.
