You're lucky because all the groceries around here are unionized labor so the prices are a lot higher than walmart or target. In fact, I noticed that the grocery's sale prices are the same as walmart's regular price. I'm not knocking the grocery workers union, just the prices..
The prices are high because unionized workers are paid more than their labor is worth.

The walmart workers here used to always seem grumpy and didnt care if they were in your way, but just about 2 months ago that seems to have stopped and now they are actually saying hi and how are you when you come near them. I wonder if maybe they found out that walmart is laying people off or something. I don't think they are, but something definitely changed and its kind of funny..
The grumpy non-union Walmart employees got raises and bonuses because Trump.

hub and I are mega-money-saving-shoppers, and keep it local, unless friends
asks me to accompany them to the other side of town while they look for 'books', etc.
at thrift-stores...

a few weeks ago, we visited the $Tree and found, 'in date', organic canned tomatoes',
bogo...now this is a REAL deal = we also found the 'large' ms. DASH, salt free, for one dollar...

Publix actually has unbelievable deals at certain times of the year - meaning that hub can buy
certain organic coffee and can get an unbelievable price...about $3.50 a bag, not to mention
Hebrew National Hot Dogs, bogo and also 'morning star veggie burgers, etc. and rarely,
we can get organic meats' at a really good cost...

we do Aldas and Walmart, Big Lots, in short, we have been taught how to price 'HOP'...
Praise God!!!

it's an 'art' and we have been blessed and have often been led by the H.S. when and where!!!\
:eek::)

This is interesting :)

I only have a Walmart and a City Market to choose from, 30 minutes away. I buy pet supplies at Walmart, fresh produce, meat, dairy, and a few other things at City Market, and most everything else (toiletries, paper products, snack and breakfast items) through Amazon Prime Pantry. This usually allows for me to come in around $25 under my budget.

I also have a veggie garden, and am learning how to can foods. I make whatever I don’t want to spend money on- seasonings, bread, tortillas, salsa, chips. I really want to try making cheese as well...I told my husband if he gets me a dairy cow I would make all our dairy products, but I think he’s a bit overwhelmed still by the chickens :D

As far as clothing, I rarely buy anything for myself...when I do, it’s from Walmart or Amazon and costs less than $30 and it lasts me forever. We’re very lucky, though, to have a generous (and more stylish) family who buy clothes for our kids and sometimes me just because (or possibly they get tired of seeing me in jeans and hoodies all year round).

I probably spend more money on my hobbies than anything else (painting/fixing up furniture). But even that, I try to buy the cans of mistinted paint and small quantities of whatever else I need. I got ridiculously excited at the hardware store this morning, finding a gallon of good quality paint in a nice color for $2.

It’s been inspiring to read how you all save money :D

Coupons are still a good way to save money at the market. Especially on things like coffee, cereal (not boxed) and canned goods. If you have time during the day to prepare supper "in advance", there are many nourishing things you can bake that would normally be bought packaged (bread, pastries, poultry etc.). That's about all I can think of.......good luck and God bless.
