Yes mam, you hit the nail on the head for me. I bought the lie they are selling - looks, money, cars, houses those are what gives a person value. Yes all those things have been an idol for me, some continue to be. I am still in the process of ripping idols out by the roots and it is an extremely painful process.

But I love Jesus and I try to hold on to his truths despite how loud the lies can be. I still enjoy the car but I am bearing good fruit and if the car was gone I would miss the enjoyment of it but it would not change who I am. My prayer is everyday I am moving closer to following Jesus.

You are very right Red this is a sin so many of us, even us Christians, struggle with
I think to make the struggle even more acute is the pleasure we take in good workmanship, simple design, and materials closest to how God created them. When I see this, I see God in the creation of these things. Those things are now expensive. I find keeping a balance, checking where I am with the Lord, all quite difficult to manage.

I grew up in the back seat of a '52 Nash Rambler and got car sick (puke) whenever I had to dress up and put up with the start-stops of a non air conditioned tin Lizzy...I'm starting to feel a throbbing in my throat now even as I am writing of it.
I am not going to make a joke about this. I feel for you... Before Interstates
WV was curvy roads. So car sickness is not a joking matter. Then we did
not take Dramamine. I do have a question... Have you ever had any good
experiences ? We are close in age.. okay.. I am 4 yrs older. LOL..
