I also know that when a lightning strikes, there is created a "channel" first going from the colud to the area on the gound where the lightning will strike, then a small charge goes from the gound up to the colud and THEN the lightning itself goes down the channel

just as useless, but quite a bit cooler

No idea. He was checking on me at the blood plasma place to make sure my machine was working ok and we got to talking a bit.
