Chuck Smith, founder of the large non-denominational network of Bible based churches known as Calvary Chapels has died. He was an incredible Christian and leader. Some credit him as the father of the non-denominational movement. Calvary Chapel, founded in Costa Mesa, California in 1965, has churches around the world. Doctrinally, Calvary Chapel is evangelical, charismatic, pretribulationist, and believes in the principle of sola scriptura.

He was one of the most humble and Godly man I know. We will miss this good and faithful servant.

I feel quite heavily for those close to him who will surely miss him dearly. He was definitely a very vocal, powerful and caring figure to a great many people.

When I consider what his philosophy about "death" was, it is very hard for me to feel too sad, at least directly, over his passing. In a way, it was what he had been wanting.

God bless him.
Though I didn't agree with his view on the pretribulation rapture, I could see by his fruits that he loved the Lord.
It is a great thing and very full of grace that we can be wrong on non-salvific issues and still be found by the Great Shepherd.
