JohnDB needs a name for his shop. It will be selling coffee, baked goods and other assorted comestibles. He was talking about chicken, so he may be running a lunch bar on the side. He can explain it when he comes in. I'm just getting the thread started.

What's a good name for it?

It has to be a unique name. In times past you could have a coffee/bakery named "The Caffeinated Loaf" in Seattle and one with the same name in Chicago and nobody cared, but these days lawyers need to buy new boats so people get sued over stuff like that.

Nota bien: As far as I know there is no prize for this. Just the satisfaction of seeing the name you thought of being used for a good bakery/coffee shop.

For some reason, the first name that popped into my head was "Muffins 'N' Stuffin's," but that has absolutely nothing to do with any of the products he'll be selling (at least, not the majority of them, or the star players.)

But it just sounded so cute.

Ok, I'll just let myself out the back door now.

One thing is for sure -- for any friends interested in a future meetup, if we're anywhere near TN, we are all definitely going to have to storm the place like it's never been stormed before.

It'll be like those good old black and white monster movies where the villagers are headed to the castle, torches and pitchforks in hand.

I wonder how John will react when he gets mobbed by a group of very hangry CC villagers. :D

It's still fun to speculate. :D

How about "Watt's Up Fine Coffees & Accompaniments".

The "watt" is because John is an electrician, of course!

And I know this name is WAY too long to ever be practical (just think of the bills a big neon sign with all that would rack up!) but it's obviously going to be a first-class establishment, so something like "Beans 'N' Buns" just isn't going to cut it.

We based the name on Psalms 23

Specifically verse 5.

The Corp name is literally P235.

But it's just fine to play and speculate good names for a coffeeshop bakeshop.

$250 per letter....truth!

But we will have teas (bubble, Asian, and iced) for @Lynx and all kinds of munchies....

Everything from hand pies filled with meat, gravy, and veggies to peach pies....sandwiches on scratch breads.

One of our specialties is going to be fresh scratch sausage on fresh made Sourdough English muffins.....the McMuffin ain't gonna have anything on this. Since the sausage is fresh, muffin is fresh....no crappy uninteresting American cheese....probably Muenster or Gouda. Oh you will instantly notice the difference. My business partner ate ten pounds of this sausage in 4 days....three times a day he ate it until it was gone.

Then children get a free cookie. (As long as I have them made)

Then there's all the cookies, breads, cakes, tarts, bombes, pies, and macarons.

Eventually we will have all the seasonal treats....star breads and gingerbread for Christmas....king cake for Mardi Gras and boxing day. Coconut cake for Easter.

We are focused on our community....like being a part of it. Narrow Gate is an organization that helps young guys turn their lives around. So they get to roast the coffee. Elijas Heart is another organization we plan to help as well.

So many chains basically "take the money and run" ahem einstein/panera, Starbucks, and etc. That ain't us. We live here. OUR CITY!!!! No we don't own it but we can do the leadership thing and be a part of it and keep a focus on doing our part.

Kids making gingerbread houses....a place to have small group Bible studies....coffee and cops meetings....more than moms groups....all like that are very much welcome in our place without the stink eye or extra charges for taking up space.
However blm and rainbow flag coalition for sexual freedom groups might find that they do get the stink eye....just saying.

A place where they grab YOUR cup off the wall and already know what to fill it with when you come through the door....that's our aim. That's the goal.

Me?
I'm the guy behind the iron bars and glass because I'm not allowed out in public.

What exactly is the age limit as far as being considered a "kid"?

Just asking... For a friend... Who may or may not have kids.

Just kidding! The Bible says the laborer is worth his work and this place sounds incredible. Can't wait to visit someday and you KNOW we'll be buying one of everything. Maybe not all at once, but between whoever goes, and maybe across a couple of days and several meals.

Is there going to be a sign-up sheet for regular tours of viewings when the poor, overworked, under-socialized monkey takes his feedings and gets his cage cleaned, too??:confused::(:ROFL:

The pasty white guy won't get off work until after lunch at some point....he starts his day at 3am....

But that doesn't mean that I won't be able to talk and tour and show off the latest creations. I do as I please so long as it sells. (It's good to be the king/part owner...it also sucks to be the king/part owner.) And there might be some free tastings and evaluations allowed. Especially if you have an educated palate.

It will be just on the square in Murfreesboro. 2 hr free Parking is usually available on the square. Longer on side streets if you don't mind the walking.

The municipal building in the very center has a museum. Nice old clock that still runs. The well Where Davy Crockett gave stump speeches is still there (no drinking of that water....I think the underground tunnels(civil war era or prohibition era) hit the water source....dunno)

It's a historic building. So is ours. (We have blocked off tunnel entrances too)

He Is Risen would be a good name. Coffee helps you rise in the morning and the dough is rising in the kitchen.

By the way, about the sourdough muffins... You have got to make sourdough cinnamon rolls. They are actually easier than sourdough bread, and everybody and his brother loves them.

Would it be possible to get a peanut butter jelly sandwich, with sourdough bread, all natural peanut butter and jelly that is made from just fruit? You haven't lived until you have tried a real peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Eventually....

Not yet.
Sales volume pays for labor....which in turn allows me me to increase variety.

Plus....
We aren't exactly a lunch counter. We do no short orders of anything. All batch cooking. The only thing made short order is coffee and toast.

There's lots of things available and it is my hope to one day do some jams and jellies in house. We will have some things like honey butter and cinnamon honey butter available from the start.

Why am I suddenly imagining a marketing slogan that goes something like, "Our Buns Are Rising Faster than Inflation!" 😬

All those other ornery Hot Cross Buns better move on over. 😎

such double talk
I guess it was always kind of a joke in our family, you know, like my no-nonsense Grandma or my Dad telling us as kids, "You'd better get your buns moving, or else!"

For us, it was a sign of really rolling up your sleeves and getting to work.

Because NO one wants to see a grandma follow through on the or else!
