Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a forum/chat room for committed Christians? I mean, where you could literally quote the word of God as it is and not enter into a debate about what God is trying to say, where people would just post, "Amen!" in response?

Okay, so as Christians we are called to count the cost. Have we counted the cost? The cost of dying daily, laying down our flesh, in order to walk with Christ, to daily take up our Cross to follow Him?

Something that amazes me is that we don't use disciples as a term to define us anymore. Why not? Because being a disciple means that you are willing to be disciplined. Look at Peter, who could speak such profound, Spirit-led words and then have the next words that came out of his mouth be so foolish and carnal that Jesus would have to rebuke him. Okay, so maybe they were literally the next words, but they were the next words in the Bible. :)

This week I have begun to truly consider what it means to walk on fire with Christ. Not cold, not lukewarm, not in the gray area of Christianity, but flaming hot fire, burning passion, for Christ. Counting the cost. Committed despite the loss. Clinging to the covenant. Fearless. Willing to be set apart. Willing to not look like the world. Radical. Zealous. Devoted.

Yup.

Not be be a naysayer, but here's a problem I see with this suggestion- Everyone's definition of what a "committed Christian" is is different. Who are you (or I for that matter) to say that your definition is correct (what God would agree with)?

I am basically saying that someone can put a Scripture down, for example John 3:16, and have people celebrate the truth of it, rather than enter into debates, such as:

"What did God mean by world?"
"What kind of love is this?"

You know, just speaking truth and accepting it. We have a forum for posting Scripture to discuss it and debate it, it'd be nice to have one that is just proclaiming it. :)

And, personally, I believe that it is pretty clear what a committed Christian is, but that we like to have our hobbies and worldly (not bad, just not godly) activities and such, and so we say there is no way to tell if one is fully committed. Romans 12 tells us what it means to be committed...just one of many places. Bodies as living sacrifices, not being like the world, not being overcome by evil, loving each other, etc. :D

I understand what you want Mysticdancer50! But what if I read your first sentence and thought of it differently? You said "Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a forum/chat room for committed Christians?" and I thought "What? Like the one's in a mental institution?". The very word commit to you could mean to entrust, or to bind, and maybe surrender. To someone else it could mean to perpetrate - for instance to commit a crime. Or to learn by heart - commit to memory. I've always liked the word pledged. Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a chat room for pledged Christians? Those souls who have promised themselves to God - those that have given over themselves. So - I know what you mean and understand what you want but I understand SparkleEyes too.

Pledged is nice, too. I think that the definitions for the word 'committed' works for Christians on all levels, though. For example:

Entrusted to God. Entrust in Jesus. Entrust in His covenant.
Bound to God, bound to Christ, bound to His covenant.
Surrendered to God, surrendered to Christ, surrendered to His covenant.
Perpetrated means doing something wrong or illegal, but it also means to commit to be responsible for something, so I would perpetrate faithfulness to God, Jesus and His covenant, to commit to be responsible for my own faithfulness.

I totally see your point, though, how, depending on where one was raised, the definition varies. :)

To add to this, the basic concept of misunderstanding words and words with dual meaning is problematic throughout all languages! There are no complex languages that are not plagued with multiple meanings for words and dialect. I believe, actually, that these "miscommunications" are remnants of the Tower of Babel.

There is such a place. It has an Outer Circle and an Inner Circle. In the latter atheists are not allowed to post. You can quote scripture and fellow Christians will complement you at every turn. If you seek only affirmation for what you believe then maybe it is the place for you. PM me and I will give you the link.

I don't understand the lingo. In what way do you die daily? What does laying down your flesh mean?

If you want to challenge your perception Google the following:

Eisenman at the Ramtha School of Enlightenment Part 1

Eisenman is a biblical scholar. In this You Tube video he discusses one of his latest books. The book itself is a very tough slog as it is written for scholars, but I should think most thinking Christians would be interested in the discussion.

Wow! You left out the word fanatical. The words you've used to describe yourself truly set you apart, but I am thinking perhaps not in a good way. Eisenman, on second consideration, is probably not for you.

I don't need a different site. I just use the ignore option. ;)

This is meant to be sarcasm...and it's a little sad that I have to say so. :) But, I'll survive.

Everyone has different views and opinions and what they perceive from the word. Having church is having a group discussion about scriptures and to separate or cast out the false perception from the truth. So discussing the scriptures will away has debate.
